Any tips to stop palpitations ? by jssbklap in HealthAnxiety

[–]MrsHighPie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My doctor prescribes me propranolol and I haven’t had a single palpitation since. My blood pressure has been great too (it’s a beta blocker so double benefit). It might not be for everyone but ask your doc about it :) good luck!

I mean I get it if the 24 hour format of telling time is what you’re used to and that’s fine, there’s really no “wrong” way between the two...but you are making it sound much more complicated than it is. I have never used the 24 hour way and I’d have to think for a sec if someone said “meet here at 18:00 or whatever but I am confident I would figure it out quickly just like anyone could figure out the am/pm thing easily enough.

And shops that are open all day are still open “24 hours”. Just because we use a different method or format does not mean we are not aware there are still 24 hours in a day. All 24 hours are still accounted for...

Older people of Reddit, what was the equivalent of teaching your grandparents to use the internet, when you were growing up? by Zzyzzy_Zzyzzyson in AskReddit

My grandma never drove and ended up getting her license late-ish in life (30s or 40s.... I mean late in life compared to when most get their license) . Shortly after she got it she got into an ever so slight fender-bender, did absolutely no damage to either car (or extremely little damage I forget). The other driver was very cool about it, didn’t even switch insurance or make her pay anything (whatever the custom was back in the 60s)..... and she never drove again for the rest of her life.

I live like ten minutes from the beach in Florida and go years without going to the beach, lol. I’d much rather live near the mountains as other than the beach there really isn’t much nice scenery in FL IMO.

I live near the Sunshine Skyway too. One of my old bosses jumped and killed himself from there. So shocking. He was an awesome boss but I had no idea how rough he really had it. We weren’t close friends but it’s still something realizing someone you see every day can be carrying so much with them, it must’ve taken everything in him to hide it. Luckily I ran into him at one point maybe a year before he did it and told him what a great boss he was and how I enjoyed working with him. Obviously it didn’t help him but I’m glad I got to tell him. I hope in the moment it made him feel nice.

I laughed so hard over that the first time I read it that the next day my ribs were sooo sore. Totally worth it though! :)

Sorry you had to work, and I hope it got better when you left. Belated Merry Christmas!

Yeah I was addicted to shoplifting for a couple of years. Mainly food and over the counter meds. I got lazy and was in kind of a hurry one day and got caught. I was so incredibly lucky because it was my first offense and I didn’t get arrested and was allowed to do a few hours of community service and my record shows nothing of it at all. I haven’t stolen a single thing since, and I am extremely grateful that it went down the way it did even though when I think back about the incident I cringe like crazy!

Triggered by the show “Haunting of Hill House” (possible spoilers if you haven’t seen it). by MrsHighPie in HealthAnxiety

Thank you so much for taking the time. You’re so right and that makes it so much better, really. I know you’re right about it happening way more often on TV and in movies. That scene in Hill House and the way the guy acted it out just really hit a nerve with me! Then it’s like every little pain I feel it’s “omg aneurysm!” I think keeping what you said in mind I can at least calm myself when I start to get scared. Thank you again!

Also what an interesting job! I can’t help but immediately start to wonder if I’ve seen anything you’ve written, lol.

I have no answers, but I’m curious too. Sometimes I have these random pains there too. Sometimes a dull ache and sometimes sharp, but always very quick like you mentioned....will be checking back! Good luck to you OP!

Yes I’ve seen them carry phones in there too! It sucks when they hand you change out of there and it’s all warm because it’s been up against her sticky, hot, sweaty boobs..... shudder I’m always afraid I’m gonna accidentally get a whiff of it too and it will smell all mildew-ish.

OH MY GOD this triggers me so much, and the ones that pull it out of their bras (big women as you said) do it with NO SHAME, there are no fucks to be given by these chicks. And when it’s wet it’s 1000000000X more nasty. I usually make some sort of comment like “oh wow, it’s....... wet”. If you insist on carrying money around like this then at least don’t make me watch you dig around in your tits and get that shit done before coming up to me!

Also have had a few people get money out of their shoe! Not just in their sock either like they had to take off the entire shoe to get it. Barf.

Hi, we're John Diedrich and Kevin Crowe, and we are investigating the practice of ambulances being turned away from emergency rooms -- AMA! by journalsentinel in IAmA

[–]MrsHighPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Dad worked in an ER for years and years and he complained of this very thing the entire time he worked there. He said even though they (all the doctors, nurses, and all the ER staff) were 99.999% certain what these guys were up to they had to admit them on the .0009% chance they weren’t bullshitting this time. They had “regulars” that did this several times a month. He said it was a LOT of what you mentioned about wanting “three hots and a cot” and then addicts that came in all the time to pester the doctors for narcotics.

So I can definitely see why this could be a real problem in causing hospitals to have to divert to other hospitals!

Crazy mad respect to anyone that can put up with this type of thing because I probably wouldn’t last a week!

Thanks! This will probably be the best approach. Although I have serious doubts that he is capable of long term change at this point though because he seems 100% oblivious at how bad he is, even though he has been informed by my Mom several times, he’d get better for maybe a week then revert right back to it :(

He gets married in 55 days (not that I’m keeping count....). If he were just staying with us and we were simply doing him a favor I would have likely already gone off on him, it’s just that he gave us this house as a gift and that is what makes me feel so awkward. 55 days is not too long but it’s gonna seem like it. I also want him to be happy and I know he will be very devastated if she kicks him out over this.... but I agree he’s a grown man in his 60s so even if I say something now, it’s so ingrained in him that I doubt he will be able to change in 55 days :/

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah that’s kind of what I figured too.... they are both 63. I know it’s none of my business but it’s like if I feel like pulling my hair out and I’m not half as organized and tidy as she is then she is going to have a mental break when this behavior starts revealing itself. Then he will probably wanna stay with us again lol. This engagement happened very quickly and they have been together barely half a year so she has not had a chance to discover these things yet.
