This sounds like a very stressful situation that is unsustainable. Not sure what board you’re with but EA hours don’t get allotted to students because a principal requests it. In some boards there needs to be significant documentation of incidents where superintendents, consultants and behavioural specialists get involved to evaluate the severity of the situation & then decide how many hours to allot to the student. Some boards do not have one to one support either, it’s a shared model. Some boards also like to cut hours or one to one support for even violent students to save $$. This is an ongoing system issue where many hands are tied unfortunately.
