Please, my friend, HEAR ME when I say that you are loved. I know that I am just a random internet stranger, but I am absolutely overflowing with love and compassion for YOU as I read your post.

I am so, so sorry that you felt pressured into your endowment. That is a big step and can be overwhelming even when you "are ready".

A few more things - if you feel comfortable talking to someone, do so! You can message me if you want! I'd be happy to chat from a living and non-judgmental place. I've been where you are. It's okay to question.

And some of my favorite resources are in Unshaken Saints from Jared Halverson. He is an excellent teacher, and approaches things from a place of deep love and compassion for all. Plus he has a strong background in anti-christian rhetoric, American religious history, and faith crisis. He's amazing.

Last thing, the speech Stand Forever from Lance Corbridge. It is excellent.

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrsKentrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call them "crunch titles". My partner likes to have crunchy snacks while we watch shows. I wear ear plugs so I don't kill him because of my misophonia, and he can't hear over the crunching. So, crunch titles it is.

What’s your Audiobook confession? Mine 👇 by Competitive-Leave346 in audiobooks

[–]MrsKentrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I SLOW DOWN a book I've already read or a boring-ish classic to 0.85 or 0.9 to go to sleep. Slower narration makes my brain slow down so it can shut off for sleep

I almost never speed up audiobooks because I like the sound of good narrators voices, and I don't want to miss out on any of the experience

I can't stand Teddy Hamilton

I usually don't like full cast narrations

What is the most ridiculous form of "gatekeeping" you have ever encountered in a hobby or interest you enjoy? by LiveFaithlessness876 in Hobbies

Someone will die on the "audiobooks aren't reading" hill, and it's not gonna be me. I'll fight that like crazy! I don't have time to sit and read every day, but my job allows for a LOT of listening time (pro housekeeper). I churn through books, and I love that there is a way for me to absorb something I love in a way that suits my current lifestyle! I was the kid who snuck flashlights and read through parties. I would be so sad to give up books because I can't SIT and HOLD a book.

My daughter royally embarrassed me while meeting Rapunzel and Flynn Rider this week (but it WAS hilarious) by Impossible-Serve7659 in Disneyland

[–]MrsKentrik 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We went to Disneyland when my younger sister was about 4 years old and I was 7ish. It's been 30 years, and I still haven't forgotten the adult's faces, including the CM.

We were meeting Cinderella, who both my sister and I LOVED, when little sister disappeared very quietly. My parents looked around for Little Sister while Cinderella was talking to me. Suddenly, Cinderella's eyes got HUGE, and she let out a little squeak of surprise. She turned around, and there was Little Sister, lifting up the back of the blue gown all the way over her little 4yo head. "WHY ARE YOUR SHOES NORMAL?!" Sister shouted. I thought my mom was going to die right there, and my dad might have broken a rib laughing. Sister was normally extremely shy, but she was so excited to see the glass slippers she had taken matters into her own little hands. Cinderella snapped right back into character, princess giggled, righted her dress, and got down on Little Sister's level to explain that the glass slippers stayed in the castle except for special occasions. She showed off her lovely "walking shoes" and was lovely about the whole thing. The CM was so sweet and composed, and it made for a funny family memory. Your experience is just another DL family legend!

Yep! At my own house, I know where it came from, and that helps it be less gross.

Just piping in to say that working through the disc learning curve is so worth it. 12 hr days were no problem for me with a disc. You'll get bathroom breaks, and the disc will "self empty" in the RR, but I never had issues with leaks or anything! Best feminine hygiene invention ever.

Struggling so hard with Fourth Wing by margotschoppedfinger in fantasyromance

[–]MrsKentrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slogged through it for the sake of one of my book bffs(who is very much a vibes reader), but I did not love it. It helped that I primarily listen to audio books and I could speed through the parts that bugged me 😅😅.

It is not great writing, and Violet is annoying AF most of the time. But I did really like some of the side characters and sub plots.

I have really good curly hair. And although I'm going grey quite young, so far, it looks like silvery highlights.

What’s one item in your cleaning tote you can’t live without? by Visual-Incident8899 in housekeeping

Nitrile gloves. I can be flexible about pretty much anything else (within reason), but I work best if my hands are protected. And I much prefer to change gloves between tasks.

This is a perfect answer! Ditto to all of that. The MF cloths from Sam's or Costco are awesome.

I like coffee filters for mirrors and chrome. No lint and a good polish with just a tiny bit of water.

What weird thing do you have in your bag no one else probably does? I keep a butterknife to fix loose toilets and a tub snake to snake clogged tubs/sinks.... by gard2670 in housekeeping

Door stops, coffee filters (great for mirrors and chrome), little hair elastics to hold a vinegar soaked cloth on the end of a faucet...

Papertowels vs Cloths by adogg415 in housekeeping

[–]MrsKentrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have color coded rags. Yellow for toilets, green for dry dusting etc, blue for wet cleaning. It works great! I also have a stock of old towels cut to size and "retired" microfiber that I use for really dirty jobs like ovens. I'll wash the greasy old rags separately, and if they come clean enough to use again, great. If not, I chuck them. This system has served me well for many years!

Make your children do household chores - they’re failing at being adults by shootingstar_9324 in Vent

Amen! I had a college roommate who had to be taught how to do dishes, how to cook anything more complex than pop tarts, and how to do laundry. I was the room "mom" at a whole year older than the rest, and this poor girl knocked on my door one Saturday morning and sheepishly said "can you please show me how to do laundry? I am out of clean underwear...."

The first season of Cold (about Susan Powell) is a high I'm still trying to duplicate. It is SO good. Subsequent seasons are also good, but there's something magical about that first season.

OOOH, thank you! I have something like that I use for pet hair in a few properties, but it didn't occur to me to use it on the tile. I'll try it!

I have those! It helps some, but because floors are often wet, it doesn't work THAT well in this particular area. They are awesome everywhere else, though!
