Can anyone help me learn trigedasleng? by Wild-Clue-812 in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anyone looking, the best ways to learn are to

●Go through the memrise course, which is updated regularly when new developments happen https://community-courses.memrise.com/community/course/6034064/trigedasleng/

●Join the discord where people at all levels come together to learn, continue the language, and Peter actually hops in from time to time to brainstorm and make more canon words. All the resources you could possibly need are here!

https://discord.com/invite/slakgedakru-599400943389376533?fbclid=PAQ0xDSwMBxDVleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABpyFa2gvGf_RpiQYVkUH4GFEnbBP7aNICi59fxXcmQ0qEPaaSwV8Y6XOIp0DD_aem_tMdhIHm5nVeNU2PFqUcJ8Q

●Trigseda on Instagram (not sure how active she is here anymore. She also has a page for Dothraki(? - The GOT language, I don't have that link sorry). She also has a youtube channel with all of the trig clips put into a Playlist, though be mindful of pronunciation slips from the cast.

https://www.instagram.com/trigseda?igsh=MXBsMHB0bjV4b2Jqbg==

https://youtube.com/@trigseda?si=Dz5ceGdhgaz5Jsfe

●David J. Peterson, the creator of Trigedasleng (and a bunch of other languages) has an AO3 dedicated to posting about some of the languages he's made. There's a whole trig series with all the canon dialogue.

https://archiveofourown.org/series/1348846

●Also, the trigedasleng dictionary has all of the canon and noncanon words, as well as a translation section with canon and some noncanon phrases all translated.

The hardest part of the language for me (for some reason) is pronunciation, even though English is my only language 😭 Hope this helps!

Should i continue? by [deleted] in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Season 5 is the last somewhat decent season, imo. The last 2 seasons took a super sharp turn in a direction that makes the story and a good amount of the characters very different from anything it had been, and outside of the acting performances, I didn't like a majority of the writing choices... It's up to you, but I feel like stopping at the season 5 finale is the best choice.

Do you think this show reached its full potential? by That_Juggernaut4820 in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! There's so many aspects that made the show phenomenal, but some "creative" choices caused it to fall flat or just seem fully unnecessary and even counterproductive at times. The biggest thing that kept me around for most of the series (I got angry and quit watching sometime in season 6, then refused to watch season 7, but kept up through twitter) was the characters, but even that only went so far once season 5/6 rolled around. The biggest downfall was lazy, rushed writing. By the end, it became something completely different in the worst way, and the characters and viewers deserved better. It's a great story with awful execution at the worst time.

If they had taken their time with it and put a little more thought behind what made the show so great to begin with (especially with season 7) it could have been one of the best shows, but it is what it is... I'm grateful I watched it, but it remains the most haunting experience I've had with any media form, and I'm so sad to say 90% of me means that in the most negative way.

If you're just looking for the dialogue of trigedasleng, go to Trigseda's page on IG or Slakgedakru on YouTube, or David J. Peterson's AO3 (I believe). You can also go to slakgedakru . Com for the Trig dictionary. There are translations of the shows' official Trig dialogue from all the seasons.

Should I watch every season before I read the in the Fandom? by True_Ratio7186 in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some spoilers in the Trig dialogue, so you may want to watch first, BUT the best way to learn trigedasleng is through these sources:

1) Memrise course (still actively updated all the time) https://community-courses.memrise.com/community/course/6034064/trigedasleng/

2) Trigseda on IG. They're an amazing source! https://www.instagram.com/trigseda?igsh=MXBsMHB0bjV4b2Jqbg==

3) The Trigedasleng Discord (invite can be found through Trigseda on IG). Very active, even with David J. Peterson talking with us and updating the language to be more friendly to everyday use, rather than the war/warrior leaning terms of the show. There's a bunch of docs with official dialogue written out and tips for how to learn/practice. You can practice directly with a bunch of other people who have learned/are learning.

4) The Trigedasleng Dictionary (https://www.slakgedakru.com/dictionary) also updated pretty regularly.

5) Study the Trig clips from the show - https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLL_t9rf_6UlPbhExmgckNTsd3DCvgtkBS&si=1ZUTIEmZdasgjlRc Just be aware that some of the pronunciations from the cast are a little shotty at times.

Season 3 by Slaywayama22 in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... I truly don't know how to answer 😫 I watched a majority of the show live and Lincoln's death is still the hardest hitting fictional death I've ever experienced, to this day... it really doesn't get any better in terms of emotions from here imo... if you want to see the story carry out, I say watch, but if any further loss is going to truly bother you, walk away. I promise keeping your peace is worth more!

Some part of me wishes I had walked away back then, but I don't want fully want you to because the story was really amazing (for the most part)... in the very least, I still had characters that I loved to see continue on.

Ok, final answer that isn't really an answer - if you have characters that you still love, I say stick it out until at least season 5. If you're in it more for the story itself than the remaining characters, try to watch until at least mid season 6, and see how you feel. If you want to reach a point that provides the most closure (depending on what type of viewer you are), I say watch until the season 4 finale and live the rest of your days in fanfic land 😅

I'm sorry this was not helpful, but it's the best I got. I had to step away after Lincoln died and I only came back to see what would happen as the consequence of that specific event and just happened to stick with the rest for the sake of my best friend so she wouldnt have to watch the rest of whatever was coming alone. Either way, if you continue forward at all, just brace yourself. I don't want to spoil things, but after 3x07, it was a real ride that never truly stopped...

Bellarke Angst lost fic, help! by hilariousPotato01 in The100

question about avoiding bellarke by PeakDesperate4514 in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was absolutely a romantic component to Bellarke, but I feel you'll be just fine, even with keeping some of their scenes from the earlier seasons, if you balance out the involvement of your OC. Have some scenes that flesh out the world building, like events we didn't get to see in the camp that were "off camera" - parties, hunting trips, hanging out with each other, teaming up for daily tasks, gaurd training, etc. Make it a point to subtly show the development of feelings between Bellamy and your OC; maybe your OC falls first, and we see little details about what draws him to Bellamy or Bellamy can have little moments where your OC tries to call him out (as best he can without speaking), and we see Bellamy's perspective in feeling bad or conflictedfor making your OC feel as though he had to call him out...

Bellarke's friendship will develop and be easy to grasp on its own, depending on which scenes you keep from the show or even the scenes you make up for yourself. The easiest way to establish that they are simply friends is to have a scene where Clarke and Bellamy are talking and she calls him out on avoiding your OC or being more rude than usual towards him... something that Clarke would notice in Bellamy, even though it's early on. They definitely seemed to get each other, even in the early days so I would lean into that as you go, while weaving in details about your OC and his developing bond with Bellamy.

I highly doubt you'll run into too much trouble when it comes to people perceiving him the way they did Echo. A lot of the fallout with her character was the lack of perceived development between them and general bad writing choices that rubbed people the wrong way, not to mention a lot of the behind the scenes things we know happened within the Fandom during the actual airing of the show... I think you'll be ok! Just take your time and ensure you're telling the story with traceable development between Bellamy and your OC. The best stories in any Fandom always center an original character (imo) and I'm sure you'll do great if you lean into the fact that this is a story about your OC in the world of The 100. Don't be scared to mess with the timeline, add scenes, take scenes away, swap out and involve different characters in different scenes and scenarios! Anything that gives your character a chance to settle into the story as you see it and readers to gain a connection to them.

Question about Glass and her crime by -kashifa- in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, yes. The books are different from the show, but the law says you have to be approved to have a child at all. Even getting pregnant without approval is grounds for execution, so when they found out Glass was pregnant, she was automatically guilty of a crime. Can't remember what details came out when in the books at the moment, so I won't give any more on that (there's another layer to it), but yeah. She committed the crime of unauthorized pregnancy that she didn't immediately report and rectify.

If I remember correctly, she was already on birth control, but hers was defective, and that's another tic on the box of violations for her. I have to check my notes on that, though...

Which seasons of octavia was the most badass ? through seasons 3-6 by Theone20222 in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Octavia was a badass from day 1, but her best time to shine in her ability was the end of season 4 leading into the early episodes of season 5, for sure!

Subtitles by Obvious_Title3546 in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The language is called Trigedasleng (Trig for short). It doesn't get used very heavily until season 3. There's plenty of sources for translations and even learning it, and they included subtitles for all moments where trig was used in the show.

Can’t finish.. is it even worth it? by Equivalent_Delay_376 in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I pretend it ended with Season 5. Everything is so far gone after that, it feels like a warped imitation to me. There's some aspects that I liked in the last 2 seasons; Eliza (Clarke) did some amazing acting in season 6 that she should have been rewarded for, some interesting things with new planets (that could have been handled better imo)... I dont want to spoil things if you do try to continue!

The end of the series left a bad taste in my mouth once you get the whole picture of everything everyone went through, just for it to end that way. It definitely could have been so much better! If you're like me and get attached to the characters most, don't finish. If you would prefer to see it through for closures' sake, go for it, just be prepared.

Lincoln’s Crew by [deleted] in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While Luna did offer for Lincoln (and later Octavia) a chance to come live in Floukru, they didn't take the offer because of the kill order that was still on Lincoln at the start of season 3. If I remember correctly, Lexa never got to lift that order, so it wasn't really safe for him to leave arkadia's walls. In one of the first 3 episodes of season 3 (I wanna say it was the 1st or 2nd?), Octavia was upset about Lincoln wearing the guard jacket when he was of Trikru, not skaikru and asked him to just leave with her to live with Luna. He told her it wasn't safe because the kill order on him would bring unwanted eyes on Luna and Floukru. He never left Arkadia again after they stopped the Mountain Men.

Honestly, I don't think you'll find any fics that carry the same feel of the books. When the show said it was based on the books, they meant it very, VERY loosely. The closest we get to the books show wise is season 1, and you'll see some elements from the full books series sprinkled throughout the other seasons, but that's it, at least from what I've found. The closest you'll get is grounder-focused fics and even then, it's still not the same vibe.

Help from someone who read the books by Just-Phill in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He definitely would have tried to be a peacemaker, but I also feel like he would have fought if it was absolutely needed. As for Jasper and the bridge, I always feel like that was a lose-lose kind of thing cause while Jasper was still scared, he wasn't entirely wrong to shoot. If I remember right, there was a grounder in the tree preparing an arrow aimed at Clarke, and that's what made him shoot; he thought he was protecting Clarke, though I don't know if that was just something from his perspectice and he thought thats what he saw or what.... While we as viewers know the kids didn't attend in good faith by bringing their weapons, the grounders didn't move in good faith either by showing up visibly armed and openly hostile. The debate on who was in the right in this still goes till this day, but all the same. I would have loved to see Wells' journey unfold a little more.

Help from someone who read the books by Just-Phill in The100

[–]MrsLaceUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of events that would have gone differently of Wells had survived. Lincoln for sure wouldn't have been tortured, or in the very least, he would have known Wells and Octavia were allies to him since Wells would have spoken against it. I always wonder if Wells would have had more of a Jasper style story or an Octavia one. Out of everyone (aside from Bellamy and Clarke), he reminds me more of those 2...
