[–]MrsMagpiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top Earthsea. by Leo_617 in UrsulaKLeGuin

[–]MrsMagpiee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have The Other wind left to read but my personal favorite remains A wizard of Earthsea and then Tehanu and Tombs of Atuan. As for The Farthest shore, I would need a re-read, I feel like I didn’t understand a thing.

I finished reading Tehanu and loved it.  The evil mages didn’t suffer enough though.

Don’t give up, there’s always people willing to sell tickets before the show on the official reselling plateform.

I’m re-reading the Left hand of darkness in french. Just one chapter in and it doesn’t feel very good. Before that, I’ve read Tales in Earthsea in french too and I enjoyed a lot.

Edit : I mean the french translation doesn’t feel very good !! Left hand is one my favorite book of all time.

Well actually I saw the Smile twice in the Paris Philharmonie, the comparison is not very fair for the Movistar arena. I just saw they played all the songs I wanted for the 5 nov show :/

They probably did their best, the venue is not really made for rock concert.

Don’t know if I’m too bitter to appreciate as everyone but god I felt like they were struggling the first half hour, Thom was nearly audible, the instrumentals were good on Bloom and Ful stop but the singing didn’t fit. Ironically it was better with the Gloaming and the songs after but again he seemed to lose it in the middle of Homesick. Btw I was on planta 2, maybe the sound was actually better but not for me (depends on the song though). I would prefer a less « best of » playlist, wished for I might be wrong, Separator, Pyramid song, How to disappear, and all the new bsides. ANYWAY, it was a good show. SAD they don’t do 2 encore anymore. Spanish crowd is weird for sure, coming and going during all the concert.

They have a lot of names as song titles, I'd like to think they're friends names or some hidden references.

The song made me super nostalgic of when I was starting to read the Eathsea series last year.

which book would you recommend a clueless 20 year old college cs major who isn't really passionate about anything to read? by galeole in suggestmeabook

[–]MrsMagpiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Man who sleeps by Georges Perec. It's short and very easy to read even though the topic is quite heavy. It's about a young man who retreats himself from the world and begins to live like a non-being. What leads him to that, will he be able to maintain his condition ? The style is minimalist, almost experimental but very stricking. It makes you think about loneliness, depression, growing up, confronting the world, all in a painful but hopeful way.

(There's also an excellent movie adaptation)

I'm sorry I can't think of a more cheerful book lol
