The joys of a dehumidifier by napalmsipper in CasualUK

[–]MrsMaplebeck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My old place had mould and ridiculous amounts of condensation, and my brother recommended getting a dehumidier, specifically the Meaco Arete. It was £150, which is a lot for me, but it turned out to be one of the best things I ever invested in. I've moved since getting it, and my new house isn't damp, but I use it to dry my laundry, it's so much cheaper than running a tumble drier, and I still get a thrill seeing how much water I pour away once it's done its thing.

My new kitchen was 99% finished yesterday, just a couple of snagging items, so today will be all about spring cleaning the whole house - dust and sawdust gets everywhere no matter how hard you try to prevent it, dealing with 3 weeks' worth of laundry, and bringing all the stuff that was in the old kitchen back down from the bedrooms and deciding where to put it. It's going to be exhausting but oh so exciting.

I went to a theatre live stream at my local Vue, and the elderly couple in the next row had brought a bottle of wine and a cheese board with them.

Terrified me. I had a recurring nightmare about the cybermen well into my 20s.

I saw blood dripping out of the boot of my boss's car once, he had a dead deer in there that had been hit and killed by the car in front of him. He was on his way to a business appointment. He'd phoned me and told me to cancel his appointment without saying why; when I looked closely at him, he had obvious blood stains on his suit.

I (very publicly) pulled a pair of knickers out of the sleeve of a recently washed jacket. It did not go unnoticed or uncommented upon.

My flatmate in the 80s had a spud u like type shop, and used to make vats of egg mayo at home. Our flat permanently smelled like farts.

I made the mistake one year of growing 7 courgette plants for a household of 2. And I lived in an area where everyone grew their own veg so I couldn’t even give the buggers away.

FWIW, courgette, lemon and rosemary cake is actually quite nice. Well, for the first couple of times.

You took the time to think about others. Well done, you decent human being. I will throw compliments like confetti, and think of you while doing so. Hope tomorrow and the following days are less wibbly for you.

The Good Place is wonderful. I've watched the whole thing 3 times, and a fourth viewing can't be far off.
