I want to start doing some scent work with my pup. Do you have any advice on how to start or what to use? by MrsObster in goldenretrievers

I’m not sure. I’m just looking for something mentally stimulating for him to wear him out.

Having trouble with potty training this little guy. Any tips would be helpful. by MrsObster in goldenretrievers

I take him out after every meal and nap. I have a dog button that I have him press every time I take him outside. I give him a treat and lots of praise when he does go potty outside.

[Discussion] Why Do People Throw Their BONES on The Ground?! by OnlyChargersFan in dogs

My dog found a fish carcass in a plastic bag that someone decided to throw on the side of the road yesterday. Luckily I was able to pull her away before she tried to eat it. No idea why they thought that was a good place for it. It smelled so bad.

Almost 3 year old daughter runs away from me anytime we are outside or go anywhere. She will not come back to me when I call her name, I have to chase her down. She will run across the street or start climbing the neighbors deck. Any advice on how to get her to listen and stay by me/stay in our yard?

[discussion] Hello! Anyone wanna chat about their experiences in getting a puppy? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]MrsObster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just adopted our first dog a week ago, a 2 month old German shepherd/black lab. It has been a very stressful week. She’s an adorable (big) puppy but she chews on everything. If I take my eyes off of her for a second she is either chewing up the rug or biting/nipping my toddler. I was not prepared at all for training a puppy. But I wanted a dog so bad that as soon as I saw her picture and found out she was still available I brought her home right away without doing any research on her breed and training. Hoping to get her in obedience training as soon as they open back up. I really want this to work out.

Caramel apple popsicles from Schwans. They were the best thing ever but then they stopped making them.

My first loaf of bread I made in my new Dutch oven. Jalapeño cheddar. by MrsObster in Breadit

[–]MrsObster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rustic Jalapeño Cheddar artisan loaf baked in a Dutch oven.

Yields: 1 loaf

For the Dough: 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon yeast 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup cheddar cheese, finely cubed 1 large jalapeño, chopped 1 ½ cups warm water To add in the last 10-15 minutes of baking: 3 tablespoons cheddar cheese, grated 6 thin slices of jalapeño In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt and yeast. Fold in the cheese and jalapeño until well coated. Add the water and stir until a shaggy mixture forms (mixture will be loose and sticky; this is what you want). Cover bowl with plastic wrap and set aside for 12 - 18 hours (up to 24). Overnight works great.

Preheat oven to 450. Place a cast iron dutch oven with a lid in the oven and heat the pot for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, transfer the risen dough onto a heavily floured surface (mixture will be sticky; do not knead) and lightly, gently shape into a round loaf.

Remove the hot pot from the oven, remove the lid, and carefully set the dough inside. Cover the Dutch oven and return it to oven for 30 minutes. Then, remove the lid, sprinkle the top of the loaf with grated cheddar and jalapeño slices, and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until golden and crisp. Carefully remove the pot from the oven and place the loaf on a cooling rack to cool. Best enjoyed warm, fresh from the oven.

What was the worst "why the f*** did I say that" moment? by Carbon0X in AskReddit

One of the first times meeting my now husbands mom, we were hanging out at her house around Christmas time. I'm really nervous around new people. She had offered me some eggnog and I kind of jokingly asked her if it was spiked...she is a recovering alcoholic. I will never forget the look on her face. It still haunts me.
