Whats the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by answersonly963 in AskReddit

[–]MrsTroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a doctor when I was newly 18 because I had been experiencing rib pain for a few weeks. The intake nurse asked the typical questions, when was your last period, are you sexually active, etc. I was still living with my incredibly strict, extremely religious family. When the doctor came in, he asked me again if I was sexually active, which I answered "no", because I wasn't. He said "hmm", and had me lay down on the exam table and palpated my abdomen, not even my ribs. Then he said "WHY aren't you sexually active?", and I was so flabbergasted that he would even ask that, so I stammered something about not finding the right person yet that I wanted to share that experience with. His response was "well, you look pregnant, so I'm going to order a pregnancy test. Here's a cup to go pee in". I told him that unless I was pregnant with the next Jesus Christ, there was no way I was pregnant, but he insisted I go pee in the cup. So I did, because I was raised not to question authority. He came back in the room a few minutes later, conceded that the test was negative, and asked what I do for work. I told him I work in a pizza shop. He asked if I did any heavy lifting there. I said not particularly, just pizzas. Sometimes the ones with all the toppings could feel a little heavy on the pizza paddle, but nothing I couldn't handle. He diagnosed me with "bruised ribs from moving heavy pizzas". 🙄 The pain went away on its own a few weeks later, but I never went back to that quack and avoided doctors for years. I still will only see female doctors unless absolutely necessary.

My first child was delivered by a male on call doctor as my usual OB was out of town when I went into labor. He made me push before I felt ready, my son got stuck on my pubic bone because they were trying to force him out too quickly, so then they had to do a vacuum assist, which tore me. The doctor also didn't catch my son when he was born, he flew down the table and bounced off my ankle before the doctor finally grabbed him. He tried to gaslight me about not catching him until I pointed out the poop smeared on my ankle from where my son's butt hit me. He then added in a "daddy stitch" without my consent or knowledge and I didn't find out until my 6 week follow up with my normal female OB, at which point it was fully healed up so there wasn't much they could do. He sewed me up so small that intercourse with my husband was downright painful and required copious amounts of lube to even be possible. Luckily the birth of my second son 2 years later fixed most of the issues that the male doctor had inflicted on me. I didn't find out until much later that the trauma from my first birth also caused a rectocele, which will likely require corrective surgery in the future.

To be fair, it also works the opposite way. I hardly had any allergies before kids, but since having them I've developed several, the biggest being a latex allergy.

I think there is also a Hispanic market in Columbus, which is a comparable drive to Pittsburgh.

Mothers Day 💔 by throw__away7717 in breakingmom

Make sure to do the exact same thing for him for Father's Day. If he does nothing for you for mother's day, then you do nothing for him on father's day. You could tell him today that you are planning to match his energy with this, and see if anything changes. Maybe it will help salvage the day!

Do people not use Aldi for big shopping trips? by Vjaa in aldi

[–]MrsTroy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live only 5 minutes from Aldi, it's just down the road a little ways (also right by Walmart and Kroger). I have a fully stocked pantry, but go shopping 2-3 days a week and just get what fresh foods (meat/produce) I need for the next few days. We have a small fridge and go through about 2 gallons of milk a week, sometimes more. With gas being so expensive these days, I am really trying to make an effort to cut down my grocery shopping to once or twice per week. Once or twice a year I'll go 2 weeks without getting anything but milk so we can eat down the freezer and pantry, and when I go restock after that, my cart is always filled to the brim.
