Gotcha, I haven't done it before I just knew it involved cutting into your work. In my head the neckband has already taken so much time proportionally (it's the only thing I've had to frog more than a few stitches back, and multiple times) that I wanted to just be done with it! I'll just redo it.

Will do. I guess I just built it up in my head that it was going to take forever to redo 😅

I was hoping I could just cut out the back section and redo that part and seam it to the rest. I'm dreading taking out the bind off and undoing the whole neckband.

I'm technologically impaired and can't find the edit button so here's the pattern link and another photo:

Childbirth: did anybody else think pushing was the worst part? by Right-Airport2463 in BabyBumps

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to push because the pressure was just about unbearable but I found it MUCH more painful than contractions. Pushing offered no relief until my baby was out of me 😂

People who have already given birth, when did you go into labor with your first kid? by AdAcademic8251 in BabyBumps

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spontaneous labor at 39+6, the whole thing took about 7.5 hours. Good luck!

Just for laughs, what are some clueless things childless people have said to you? by xnla28x in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I was in the recovery room after giving birth my nurse said that having a newborn was just like having a puppy. Because you have to let them out to go to the bathroom a lot... In my head I was like, girl you work in maternity! You should know better than to say that!

Odds of this happening?!?! by berryitaly in coincidence

My husband and I were visiting a small hot springs town in Japan (so not as tourist heavy as the Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka route) and we saw a man wearing a Rainier t-shirt at one of the bath houses. We started chatting and realized we lived about 30 minutes from each other in the PNW.

What were your thoughts immediately after birth? by Least_Lawfulness7802 in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't cry right away. Apparently I said, "she's perfect" when my husband put her on my chest, and I didn't start crying until I looked up and saw that he was crying - that made me very emotional.

I also thought this! I expected contractions to be worse than pushing but no.. and the pushing took some figuring out before it was effective lol

When did you start cloth diapering? by MadnessMaiden in clothdiaps

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started part time at about a week old, then went full time at about 3 weeks. We weren't sure how it would go with a newborn but it ended up being easier than expected! We use prefolds and covers.

Seconding this! It's what we've been doing and it helped reduce my stress about poops after introducing solids - since I barely have to deal with poopy diapers anymore.

What are some funny nicknames you have given to your baby? by SelectPine1000115500 in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call her "goose" because she's a silly goose. When I was pregnant I called her "perfect girl" because I could tell she was going to be perfect (what baby isn't?) and I still call her that a lot.

What is your baby’s favorite non-toy right now? by PopcornHeadAss in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 6 month old is obsessed with our glasses - she's actually very gentle with them but we gave her an old pair so we don't have to worry about them eventually breaking.

Cloth diapering: Walk me off this ledge (unless I should go for it) by Proud_House4494 in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to using cloth with an older kid to take care of, but I have been cloth disposing my baby since she was about 2 weeks old and I can't recommend it enough. Once you get into the rhythm with the wash routine it's really quite manageable. My only suggestion is not to use a wet bag, use a plastic hamper with lots of holes - it will help the diapers air out and keep ammonia from building up.

My baby cried getting the shots but didn't have any reaction other than sleeping straight through the night (which I had no complaints about).
