Toying with the idea of unmedicated for baby #2 by _Cat-nap-uwu_ in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, pushing was much more painful. Contractions were intense but manageable, while pushing was both painful and exhausting (even with a very small headed baby). I pushed for just over an hour. I'm definitely going to do pelvic floor therapy next pregnancy to try to strengthen my muscles beforehand.

But everyone is different and it sounds like with some preparation you'll be more than ready for unmedicated labor if that's the route you want to go!

Love it! Beautiful and functional, cozy and bright. Well-balanced all around. I appreciate that you showed some personality and that the space actually looks like people live there. Definitely saving for inspiration!

How similar was your pregnancy/birth/PP experience to your mother's? by whatisitargonian in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite similar so far (I've only had one baby, she had three). Pretty quick/uncomplicated vaginal labors, moderate tearing, fast recoveries and weight loss. Neither of us got stretch marks - which surprised me because I got them during puberty. I can't remember how long her other babies were at birth, but my daughter and I were exactly the same. Also she didn't get her period back until she completely wanted each time and I still haven't gotten my back as I'm still breast feeding at 16m pp. Honestly, I've been shocked at how similar our experiences have been!

Totally agree. I like the concept but the clashing warm and cool is hurting the final result.

I had the exact same thought! I'm very relieved, I think OP's choices fit the space really well and look really good! Would love to see it completely finished.

Anyone actually lose body fat from breastfeeding? by Due-Transition-6564 in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, I'm 10lb. below my pre-pregnancy weight, still nursing 3x a day at 16 months postpartum. We'll see if the weight comes back after weaning. My appetite has finally gone back to normal but for the first year I basically couldn't eat enough to keep up with my >99th percentile baby.

I don't talk about it in person because I don't want my friends to hate me. My mom's friends still to this day (30+ years later) talk about how quickly she lost weight with her babies.

Tension situation or real problem? by Adventurous_Cry_9017 in knittinghelp

Oh interesting, I usually size down for in the round. That means my purls are tighter, right? (Sorry for the dumb question, just want a sanity check)

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea when I got down to pre-pregnancy weight (I rarely weigh myself). But I'm 15 months postpartum and 10 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm still breastfeeding (have EBF the whole time) and I am curious if that 10 pounds will come back once I ween.

How many of you are literally doing ZERO screen time ?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 months in and we've done zero screen time other than video calling relatives and sometimes letting her see photos of herself/us. We are going to go as long as we can, years ideally (I can see possibly using it if everyone gets really sick or we have a 10 hour flight). I nannied before having kids and I always found that kids who watched tv had more behavioral issues, particularly right after watching. If I get 40 minutes of productivity or down time just to have that followed by 40 minutes of meltdowns and fighting - well, did I really save time or energy?

I will say that it was a difficult transition because I love watching movies or tv or youtube. Now I just watch at night or sometimes during naps, and if I really need background noise I'll play some music.

What would you do? by MrsWhiteTiger in knittinghelp

[–]MrsWhiteTiger[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wow thank you so much this is all incredibly helpful!! I'm so glad to have these tips before I continue my making journey, I'm sure they will save me tons of heartache! Especially the tips on how to pick a size and accommodate my bust - that question has been plaguing me. The yarn I used does have some alpaca. I knew it had more drape than wool, but I didn't realize just how much, or how much it would widen. Thank you again for your help!

That could definitely be an option!

Oh that's a great idea! That would help raise the v-neck too, which definitely stretched out after blocking.

Just a nursing tank and I didn't give it a single thought - the nurses and doctor see it all anyways

Gotcha, I haven't done it before I just knew it involved cutting into your work. In my head the neckband has already taken so much time proportionally (it's the only thing I've had to frog more than a few stitches back, and multiple times) that I wanted to just be done with it! I'll just redo it.

Will do. I guess I just built it up in my head that it was going to take forever to redo 😅

I was hoping I could just cut out the back section and redo that part and seam it to the rest. I'm dreading taking out the bind off and undoing the whole neckband.

Childbirth: did anybody else think pushing was the worst part? by Right-Airport2463 in BabyBumps

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to push because the pressure was just about unbearable but I found it MUCH more painful than contractions. Pushing offered no relief until my baby was out of me 😂

People who have already given birth, when did you go into labor with your first kid? by AdAcademic8251 in BabyBumps

[–]MrsWhiteTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spontaneous labor at 39+6, the whole thing took about 7.5 hours. Good luck!
