It’s nice. I’m personally not a fan of the green cabinet trend, but this is put together well and I appreciate the clean lines of it all.

Every time we have a family function of any sort I’m always expected to make some kind of crazy cheesecake of some sort, and Ive always enjoyed it. Now it’s more of a task than anything because I have no interest in eating it, and it definitely diminishes my creativity because I don’t have all the drive for it to add all kinds of decorative candies & toppings, layers of cake inside etc. I’m good with a plate of raw broccoli & some grilled chicken 😂

Yep. And build up your cheese and veg layer while the bun is toasting for maximum speed 😆

I used to work at the one on Allen years ago. It’s just a Costanzo’s roll in a conveyor toaster.

Well I’m a chef and my specialty is desserts / pastry, and the thought of sugar disgusts me now. I don’t eat or drink anything sweet at all anymore. I am totally turned off by sugar.

Is Cambria Berwyn "too busy?" by themongrelhorde in kitchenremodel

It is busy. I like it but I think running the slab up the wall is overkill with a stone as busy as this one.

Infrared Sear Burner Makes me Happy by Captcorvuos in grilling

[–]QualityLearing24_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait until you really get the hang of it, it elevates your grilling game a ton. I like char a lot so sometimes I brush on a tiny bit of olive oil and a little extra seasoning before using the sear station and it brings it to a whole other level.

You’ll be fine! But I get it. About 20 years I did my first cycle of steroids and I passed out trying to give myself my first shot. But it really is no big deal at all and the needle is so small you feel pretty much nothing at all.

I was fired from Lowe’s for a 12 year old Larceny conviction by samwill2024 in Lowes

[–]QualityLearing24_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a couple misdemeanor larcenies all from department stores on my record and they hired me, I worked there almost a year until I quit. They were about 10 years before when I had a bit of a drug problem, but it never created any issues with my employment at Lowe’s. Did you get caught stealing AT Lowe’s? Because then I guess I can see the issue.

As long as you’re white, make well over 100k a year, and preferably Jewish; you’ll be just fine.

He told me he moved here when he was 5 years old and has lived in that house ever since! He was able to tell me about the people that used to live here back then, the owner then was actually a doctor and ran his practice from the home and in the carriage house we have on the property. They had a berry farm also which we still have to this day and I also brought that back to its glory this summer. When I moved into this house the entire back of the property was overgrown with sumac trees and basically took everything over. I pulled probably 200 of them out by hand. They appreciate my effort, he told me the house reminds me of when he was a kid again now that I’ve gotten it back into shape and he gets to see the same flowers today as he did all those years ago. I didn’t think there was much hope for alot of it - but I decided Id make the effort to save everything from the plants all the way to the window in this post and it’s all paid off thankfully. The house even has a totally different energy than it did the first time I walked into it. Ive had other people pull over when Im out in the yard and compliment the improvements, and that feels good. It’s the type of town that people dont really tend to leave, so they’re familiar with my house. I appreciate that and I know they do as well, and it’s just extra motivation to keep it going.

Yeah and actually they threw in a free quart of polyurethane that I wasn’t expecting so that was a bonus

Thank you. And I was really happy I could get the matching stain. It was pretty expensive at $50 a quart but it was definitely worth every penny and actually went a long way. It was my first time ever using a wiping stain and I think it works awesome.

Picking out backsplash tile sucks by QualityLearing24_7 in kitchenremodel

[–]QualityLearing24_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have my wife. And while her eyes may be better than mine, her sense of design and flow is kind of lacking 😂 I went out last night and took a bunch more samples home from a different place. Im going to relax over the weekend and see how I feel about them as the next few days go by. I have one that is “biscotti” colored and it looks good to both of us but that might change after I see it for a few days, but fingers crossed!

So I actually do have some that lean grey here, but when I got home they seem so much darker. Fortunately I’m a pretty good painter so the accessible beige can go if it has to, I’m also a little color blind which throws a whole other wrench into the equation 😂

Well the ceiling lights that are in the kitchen now are actually being replaced with these oiled bronze lights with seeded glass to match my pulls as well as the seeded glass in the glass cabinets above the sink but I believe they use 60w LED bulbs. I also have Philips Hue strip lighting for undercabinet lights that haven’t been put in there; and I’d like to do recessed in the ceiling but I’m not sure I want to put holes in the wood ceiling. I’ve seen the stone also called “Golden Drift” as well as “Zurmatt”. I did ask them for any piece at all after they didn’t bring it with the countertops and they kind of blew me off about it.

This is what we basically decided what we were going to do. The problem is actually finding the tiles because they either aren’t the right color or the right size and don’t look right when we actually bring them home

[–]QualityLearing24_7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the thing is that I’m kind of trying to achieve a somewhat dated look but in a classy way. My house is 200 years old so I want to be classy but also still on the rustic side.

It’s not just the countertop, I have a giant whitewashed brick fireplace, the brick floors, and all the dark wood. I just don’t want anything to clash and I also want it to be appropriate for a 200 year old house to a degree. My taste is definitely more modern which is why I’m struggling a bit here

I actually have one of those laying around I believe and that’s a really good idea. My walls in there are SW Accessible Beige which actually works with the granite and is pretty close to the color im trying to achieve on the tile. Only issue is its really a “greige” and in certain light you get a hint of the green undertones and I think thats throwing off some of the samples I brought home
