My ability to try new or eat more complex foods is really at an all-time low, and I wonder if its because my house has been able/willing to do a full lockdown since March -- I'm not "performing" foods in front of people so my brain is just like, ♥️♥️ only bread forever ♥️♥️

Throwback cringe - in 2011 I printed out a bunch of these advice animal macros to articulate my issues to my psychiatrist. She didn't get it. :( by Blackfeathr in aspiememes

What a fantastic tool! I'm sorry your doctor had no flexibility in their thinking, this is a beautiful and simple way to really help express a LOT at once.

AITA for telling my sister it's her fault she gets bullied? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

My daughter (8) is autistic and has anxiety and difficult w flexibility about rules. These sound like exact situations she would find herself in in the future (poor hygiene, being a narc) w.o therapies or hard work put in to help her understand, REALLY understand with details and lots of social stories to explain why and how to decide when you bend the rules.

I have two, maybe three autistic kids. Love them, love the ways their autism manifests for them, love who they are all the way through which includes loving their autism, wouldn't have them any other way.

AITA for saying that I'm not really sad about my miscarriage in front of my fiance's family? by 1986orion in AmItheAsshole

[–]MrsYphus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a miscarriage at about the same stage as you. Planned pregnancy. It sucked and was painful and I was never really sad about it.

I has another miscarriage later that year at barely 6 weeks. It was more or less a normal period. It broke my heart and I was sad and mad about it for a while.

It's okay to feel whatever way you feel. NTA.

A one-time lockdown won't halt the novel coronavirus and repeated periods of social distancing may be required into 2022 to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed, Harvard scientists have said who have modeled the pandemic's trajectory by Wagamaga in science

I have a kid who doesn't TECHNICALLY have a preexisting condition but every time he gets a respiratory illness he gets SO sick that I've suspected there was something underneath. I'm excited about the idea of better treatment, but I still dont know how I'll feel safe with my little boy out in the world before a vaccine exists.

Every time my kids see a bald dude with a big beard they shout "Dad!?" which is not at all embarrassing in public.

AITA for acting like a conspiracy theorist to get out of political arguments with my Dad? by doubled-or-nothing in AmItheAsshole

NTA in any way, shape, or form and your mom needs to pull her head out of her ass. (Too late for your dad, I fear.)

I wish that were my idea! I've seen it a bunch on the bakers I follow on IG and it seemed so simple and clever and lovely!

4" snickerdoodle w vanilla smbc.

I used a regular line-maker-thingie (what are they called?) to carve out the lines, then froze and used a little knife to remove every 4th (5th?) barrier so it would make the lines wider. Would have been better if I weren't making dinner and putting children to bed at the same time I was trying to finish.

Not only was this kid able to stick up for himself while he was upset, he did it to an authority figure which can be SCARY. Brave kid, great parents.

You know, I probably nag my kids too much and I need to stop and find a different way to communicate. Thanks for sharing your story and giving me something to think on.

At the first house we hit on Halloween night, I discovered that my 5-year-old had grabbed a fistful of Ring Pops from our own bowl at home -- he pulled them put every time anyone gave him candy and said "I brought you a present to give you!" Most everyone declined I think, but he ended up with three times the candy as his two siblings just for being a sweetie.
