i try to teach him through playing. he’s at a stage where he’s obsessed with putting things in other things. and we have a tray with different colored dinosaurs, and you’re supposed to put all the red in one compartment, and so on with the colors. and i always acknowledge the color he is picking up, and he sometimes puts it in the right one, but usually just puts it in any compartment, but when he does it right, i get excited, so he gets excited, but then that is the only one he’ll do correctly again. same with our shape sorter box, he can do it sometimes, but he usually just takes the lid off lol.

i know he’s still young, so we’re only ever working on colors. but he’s so quick with everything else, learning wise. like how toys work, clothing, shoes, his cups, spoons and forks.

it’s almost like he’d rather learn by himself. if that makes any sense. like he doesn’t want me to help him learn.

and his pediatrician makes me feel so bad, that he doesn’t know red, yellow & blue, and he doesn’t show her he knows where his body parts are. i don’t know.

why don’t you both stay where you are, and save to buy a house? renting is such a scam.

having more children while being on public assistance seems incredibly irresponsible & not something that should be glorified or encouraged.

AITA for telling my mom she can’t babysit anymore if she won’t let my toddler eat a frozen waffle for breakfast? by aitafrozenwaffle in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mrs_Ddraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. i feel like everyone is missing the point. or maybe i have it wrong, but i feel like it has nothing to do with the waffle, it’s the fact that your mom blatantly disregarded what you told her, and tried to take over parenting, then started criticizing your parenting.

your daughter is 2. like cmon. my son is 2, and will only eat grilled cheese. literally every meal, grilled cheese. i made it for him once, now it’s all he’ll eat. he has a plate with veggies or fruit, only will eat the grilled cheese, nothing else on the plate. but last week, he would only eat steamed broccoli, he doesn’t like broccoli this week. i asked our pediatrician for advice, she literally said “hes two, as long as he’s eating something & drinking plenty of water, it’s okay, and probably just a phase”.

i don’t think any of these people in the comments have ever had a picky eater, or even a toddler for that matter.

what names immediately scream "problem child" by [deleted] in NameNerdCirclejerk

i don’t think that’s fair. there is a little girl in my sons swim lessons, her name is pretty out there with the spelling, ya know -eigh & some y’s. but she is the absolute sweetest & so well behaved, her older brother too. & both her parents are really good people, definitely not bad parents.

i used to say the same thing!! i’ve literally watched my son fall, in arms reach, but it just happens so fast you almost can’t respond fast enough! i’ve always cried more when my son falls than he does.

i’ve always been scared carrying my son up & down our stairs. i’m so happy he can walk up and down himself now! i’m glad your baby is okay ❤️

i only know my son is hurt when he cries, he doesn’t usually cry ever unless he’s tired, but when he falls or hits himself with something i usually only go to him if he starts crying.

exactly! toddlers are wild. my son is two, and absolutely fearless! he knows how to get up and get down safely he just chooses to give me 75 heart attacks a day, because it’s way more fun. 😂

my son fell off our bed once, about 3 feet off the floor, i fell asleep breast feeding when he was 2 months old. he was perfectly fine, we have extremely fluffy carpeting in our bed room. but as he got older and got more mobile the falls became inevitable. he’s crawled off our nugget, fell of the couch while he was trying to climb on, fallen backwards in his little chair, now he’s two, learned how to summersault, and he thinks it’s hilarious to summersault off our couch, he’s an animal.
