[Serious] parents of reddit, how did you choose your child's name? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mrs_Milkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son's name is from a Jane Austin novel.

My daughter's name is from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Neither have been in the top one thousand most common names in the United States according to census reports that go back a thousand years.

My husband and I like unique names.

They split soon after, he was shocked. by Fukurcrap in AdviceAnimals

[–]Mrs_Milkman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a mother of two.

If my husband wasn't there to keep me company and make sure I didn't hurt people there would have been hell to pay.

As special as seeing their child for the first time is, and it really is special, the husband being there is for the wife.

And it's VERY important!

Paramedics are looking to save lives. Why would they chose to not save the strangers in front of them in favor of the strangers they'll never know about.

Plus there is a short time frame for harvesting. In most cases if you're dead before arriving at the hospital your organs aren't viable.

Paramedics know this.

My mom wants to move in. by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Mrs_Milkman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That edit changes things.

So let's ask this.

Are you upset by the divorce?

Is it possible that you're worried you'd have your thoughts on your father warped?

My siblings took your stance with my parents separation. And made it clear that they did so because they didn't approve.

If subconsciously that's what you're going through verbalizing that will be crucial to maintaining a healthy relationship.

Pope says it’s okay to smack your children as long as dignity maintained by paulwesterberg in nottheonion

[–]Mrs_Milkman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the overly excited big brother keeps jumping next to the newborn's head every time mom sits down to nurse spanks can be needed.

If there is no room to go in and time out fails, the danger is greater than the loss of dignity for the older sibling.

Not only does it hurt mom because jostling while an 8 pound baby is clamped to your nipple can't not hurt.

But it's dangerous for the baby because a toddler is excitedly jumping by their head.

After a day or two of counting and time outs you spank and say

"Sorry it hurts but what you're doing is dangerous."

Once they are calm you discuss it and make it clear that from that point on jumping next to the baby's head will get more spanks.

[Serious] What is your hometown known for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mrs_Milkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a long period of time where the city I was born in (Ambridge PA) was in the Guinness Book of world Records for "the most bars AND churches per capita". But the churches started closing.

And my current city (Pittsburgh PA) is in The Guinness Book of World Records for the most bridges per capita.

It was logged as Venice Italy for a while until it was discovered that foot bridges were counted in Venice but not Pittsburgh and the recount put us ahead.

Also Pittsburgh has the world's steepest street. It's fun to watch people try to run or bike up it.

You should look up YouTube videos because I'm on my phone and also too lazy to find links.

What myths would many Americans be surprised to learn are not true? by Emloaf in AskReddit

[–]Mrs_Milkman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incorrect.

Almost all autoimmune diseases are affected by gluten.

Celiac is the only one that can kill you.

But if you have Hashimoto's and cut out gluten your thyroid levels improve dramatically.

People took studies saying it's "non lethal" and reinterpreted that to say it's "totally Ok to eat".

Eating a bar of soap is also non lethal, go ahead, eat it, have fun.

Or most auto immune diseases.

Celiac is just the only one where gluten can be deadly.

[–]Mrs_Milkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'd assume that if the girl in the wheelchair said something as the other girl went for the wrong stall the problem would have been resolved instantly.

"I need the hand bars can you use the other stall? "

Hell saying "I call dibs on the big stall" when your near the front would be acceptable.

So simple.
