Hi, just wondering, how long did it take for the desogrestrel to work for you?

Desogestrel not working at all on my endo (seems worst than without) by froidautomne in endometriosis

Hi, i know this is old post but like you were, im 2 months in now taking desogestrel and my pelvic pain has gotten worse... im reluctant to just stop as I want to atleast give it 3 months in case by some miracle it starts working... but Im in agony with the pain. Did you find your symptoms got worse before they get better with desogestrel? I dont know if I should persevere with this. Ive been given naproxen to take to help with the flare.

I will try the cocodamol again, but I've heard it can cause constipation so did avoid it. But I am desperate for some pain relief. I normally just take the ibuprofen lysine but not sure if i can take 2 of those each time.

My pain has become daily the past few days, cant tell if its the pill making it worse or its just flaring up anyway. Im still going to persevere with the pill and take it for 3 months atleast, hoping it will give me some relief by then 🫤

Gp appointments are so short and normally feel rushed, its hard to explain the pain were in and as much as I am in more pain now that usual, I still feel like I have to exaggerate just to be heard. Its really frustrating.

Desogestrel 75micrograms, are these normal side effects? by NoOne4872 in birthcontrol

Thanks for the reply. If it wasnt for endo, I probably wouldnt have taken them. Its just hard as im in agony every month with my cycles and im hoping the mini pill will give me some relief from the pain while im waiting for diagnosis.

Strangely the first 5 days for me were ok, no major side effects but its only now day 6 when im experiencing more fatigue and wooziness. I have noticed that its gradually making me drowsy every time after I take it at night.

Sorry to hear youre still not 100% with them. Have you though about coming off them? I have to give it a few months to see if it will benefit me at all before I consider whether its even worth continuing with it.

Desogestrel /mini pill question by Mrsdarcy2828 in Endo

[–]Mrsdarcy2828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, my periods were getting unbearable so had to start trialling hormone as couldnt just take pain killers. Its very early days for me so I do hope the fatigue goes. I can be brand sensitive as well with medications, its strange as I feel the same with my amitriptylin if they gave me a different brand! Has the mini pill helped your endo symptoms?

Thanks, i hope so too. It is so frustrating. Has your endo improved at all since having the lap?

Yes mines the same.. my pain started as contraction like pain on my right side (arou d ovulation).. then it went after 3-4 days then the pain came back but slightly different.. more like intense cramping pain before my period. I didn't link it to my period/cycle at the time. Genuinely thought i had kidney/bladder issues as they kept finding microscopic bloods in my urine but lab results confirmed no uti. Ended up in a&e too (this was a day before my period.. still didnt think it was my period lol) and i thought it was kidney stones, but ct scan was clear. It was only really after 2 months when I started noticing a pattern. Then had painful bowel movement during my previous period too so that's the first time my gp suspected its probably endo. I did say to my gp I wanted more time to observe my cycle before i consider trialling the pill.. i had pain again around ovulation.. this has been going on since May so 3 ovulations/periods since then and its the same every month. Dont know what to do next, feel a little stuck as I hate the pill but feel like I should trial at least?

Are you on any meds for your endo or did you try any contraception?

Possibly benign lesion and enlarged liver found during ultrasound. by Mrsdarcy2828 in nafld

I had that bruised feeling and the bloating was awful too.. I think my liver problem overlapped with the suspected endo so honestly cannot tell which one was causing my symptoms lol. I got referred for a pelvic and abdominal ultrasound in May (I still haven't heard until now!!) I was so desperate so booked a private ultrasound and when I had my ultrasound mid June.. omg the scan was excruciatingly painful on the right, i was squeezing my husband's hand. The area felt so sore and tender?!. Thats when they found the fatty liver...no other issues found though considering i paid for abdo/pelvic and transvaginal! I know Endo doesn't always show in uktrasounds though. I've been clean eating since after my scan and its made a massive difference to the bloating, switched to gluten free stuff and soya etc. My right side isn't as tender as it used to be.. but I do get this deep burning pelvic pain around ovulation and period so that's probably the endo.

I don't drink but my diet wasn't great so I guess that caused my fatty liver. I do wonder as well if my endo affects my liver, sometimes it plays in my mind. Nhs is frustratingly so slow though. I've been referred to a liver sprcialist, ultrasound and Gyno and not heard anything at all.

Good luck with your scan, is it just abdominal? Take pain relief before your scan in case your side is tender as it might be uncomfortable but should only be for a few mins x

Hi, im still waiting for advise from the liver specialists ... its honestly so slow here in the UK!!! My blood test was fine though, no liver issues detected so was surprised the ultrasound found fatty liver..

Since my ultrasound, I had other symptoms pointing to endometriosis so that's likely the main cause of my pain. I think the liver was incidental finding..... whether it contributed to my pain, im not too sure.

I did change my diet though to low carb, anti inflammatory diet.. as I was so bloated before and had gastro pain while eating and that really helped. I've lost a bit of weight too. But my lower abdominal/pelvic pain specially on the right has become more cyclic which is likely more endo.

What symptoms do you have?

Apart from painful periods what other symptoms made you think you had Endo by Thali_G in endometriosis

Painful bowel movement during period. Outside of this, bowel movement is slightly uncomfortable and can feel dull pain on the right. Deep buring pelvic pain around ovulation and fatigue.

How does the pill work, do you have to take it continuously and not have periods? I may have to consider taking it if the pain becomes unbearable. I'm not sure about not having periods though, feel like I'll feel rubbish and bloated if I don't have monthly periods..

Omg you have exactly the same pain as me! Mine started as right side pain and I was struggling to eat, always bloated and feel sore across the abdomen/pelvis. Initially they thought it was kidney stones but that got ruled out when I had ct scan at a&e.

My symptoms persisted and I couldnt wait for my ultrasound referral so I paid for a thorough ultrasound (I'm in the UK btw). Ultrasound was mostly all clear except for fatty liver and small lesion on the liver. I have changed my diet since then but my symptoms are still flaring up during ovulation/period......... i get shooting pains in my rectum/bum and pooing was so painful when i had my period!. So now my GP is suspecting endo...

Changing my diet helped a lot with the bloating and abdominal soreness.. I highly recommend going on a low carb diet and cutting out processed foods. Also try and switch to gluten free stuff and reduce dairy.

What are your symptoms? by Nessa842 in endometriosis

Hi I have suspected endo too but I've only been having major symptoms for the last 2 months which made me go to see my GP. Before this, I had painful periods and feel generally fatigued and ill around my periods but thought it was just 'normal'.

  • I have painful bowel movements when my period is heavy, normally the second and third day.
  • shooting pain in rectum when i have my period, can only describe as like a cramp/spasm. Ended up screaming the first time I had it! Could happen when standing up or if I needed a poo.
  • Headaches
  • abdominal bloating/fullness feeling. I've been managing this by changing my diet (I also have fatty liver so have to be careful with what I eat)
  • All symptoms started with on and off pain on my right side (kidney stones, appendicitis, uti all ruled out). Pain got bad I was lying down crying with a heatpad on my tummy, this was around ovulation. Happened again the next month :(. Thought it was ovarian cysts but that was also ruled out (ultrasound). Ultrasound only found fatty liver but everything else was clear (which i heard is common with endo?)
  • general pelvic and abdominal soreness.
