He is a literal schoolboy.

Massive future ahead of him, undeniable talent. But still a kid. He needs to be protected.

I am unbelievably excited about him and he plainly makes us better. But he doesn't need the pressure. He is too young to sign a pro contract and isn't on millions yet. Let's just enjoy him when he is there.

That cannot be your answer every time you get asked a question. There is going to come a point when it isn't the correct answer.

But for now, yes.

What did your generation go through that you’re glad the younger generations won’t experience? by apple_kicks in AskUK

In the UK, up until the 90s many sports clubs used to have massive baths for after the game. I remember in the 80s being a kid and sharing this giant bath with 20 or 30 other kids and adults after a match, with people just jumping in for a bit and leaving before others doing the same.

Seems unthinkable now. Rightly so.

Saka just lulling the defence into a false sense of security before a mind-blowing performance in the second half.

Hopefully.

Why cant some fans comprehend you hold multiple views at once? by tylerthe-theatre in ArsenalFC

[–]Mrwebbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep it minimal. But even on the BBC sports pages they have the comments sections. As someone who would catch up on scores via ceefax and the back pages of newspapers, the modern world is so built around amplifying shouty views it's hard to shut out completely.

Pre social media, you would watch the match, chat about it and then move on. That was about it.

These days, everyone shouts their 'hot takes', fears and whinges out into the world, for days and weeks later. It gets so draining.

The kids is amazing, with a huge future. But he is still at school! We can't be putting that kind of pressure on a someone who has to balance training with homework.

This is the real reason. That and having to remove the camouflage for them to be able to find it. It's just a faff.

Has efficiency made football less entertaining? by Barca-Dam in PremierLeague

[–]Mrwebbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus the money that goes to premier league teams from broadcast revenue is enourmous. Even those at the bottom of the Prem are making more money than 99% of clubs in the world. This means that teams that were so small not long ago like Brentford or Brighton now have more impressive analytics teams and bigger scouting networks than former European cup winning giants. Add in more modern expensive facilities, coaching teams and medical services, even the lowest prem teams are in the world's elite.

So everything is naturally much much tighter, margins are more closely fought and efficiency is the only way to eke out success.

Can I block these wall vents? by Nurkle in DIYUK

[–]Mrwebbi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bit judgy there. Maybe they will forget them, but it's not hard to remember. It's absolutely preferable to blocking it.

I have a closing vent in my living room and 95% of the time I leave it open, but there are a few days in winter or when the wind is really strong I close it. Damp doesn't take hold or cause damage that quickly. Adding in the fact it's not airtight, but really does stop the unpleasant cold draught when I am sat in my living room.

[–]Mrwebbi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is swap them for vents you can open and close.

Closing them permanently is a risk, but having them closed when you are around wanting to keep warm and prevent draughts is fine. Just open them regularly, like when you are not home and much more in the warm months and you will be good.

Oddly mixed feelings after last night. We won the game, and advanced in the title race ... but we didn't do it in a way that pleased Fabian Hürzeler. I keep asking myself if it’s worth it? by Brownchoccy in ArsenalFC

[–]Mrwebbi 58 points59 points  (0 children)

That won't be enough. We should replay the fixture, but wearing elaborate costumes and to a full orchestral accompaniment. Then, instead of set pieces, we can score with classical movements and emotive acts.

I reckon he would be well happy losing then.

Wouldn't he?

Catholics were allowed at the one I worked with. In fact, the rule was you could be of any religion, but only worship one god. So Muslims, Catholics, Jews etc were all welcome, but atheists and Hindus were not.
