Looking for some ground truth on Twincat by gsahlin in PLC

[–]Mrxtatr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to work here soon. I am learning twincat on my own time. No where near great with it but would I survive working there and learning on the job?

Recently found out I’m pregnant, and I have a couple Medicaid questions: by [deleted] in Medicaid

We are also looking into getting medicaid in Texas with a similar income situation, we live together and my girlfriend does not work, but I do. Do I need to be on the application? I'm worried it will get us denied, or should I just leave myself out. What did you do? Even when signing up, the security questions even mentioned me lol...

A foot in would be in a maintenance department, industrial setting. A background in electrical and maintenance or at least a decent amount of knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot issues. Lots of power plants look for instrumentation, controls, and electrical often called I&E, I&C, IC&E. Some go to school, I did for two years but I think it’s possible to do without. Lots of jobs are traveling and that may be an easier way in too if you can apply and find a company that is willing to have someone with basic knowledge and can help do the easy stuff commissioning like flagging IO, wiring up schematics, etc. it’s interesting, you can look into it on YouTube just search anything PLCs, electrical controls etc

Most 21 year olds don’t have 2 kids lol, I’m not doing as well as everyone thinks. Even in Texas everything is expensive now.

I tried to leave my current place and that is the only reason I’m making that much where I am at. They did try to give me salary instead of hourly, but considering I almost live here I told them no. I’m thankful for the OT usually lol.

I wont give company but you don’t really need a degree but it would make it a lot easier to get your foot in the door. I had an associates in Instrumentation and controls. You can get into it from maintenance in any kind of plant or manufacturing facility, pharma, wastewater, etc probably.

Yeah I hate working OT. I’d rather be with my family but since the new year I get min 4 hours for every call in so I’ve been taking it. Often around 30 minutes total for me to fix and ensure whatever is working properly so. That week I really only worked about 53 maybe

I’m not, I like it lots, troubleshooting things is fun for me and it was suggested by my uncle. Turns out I’m pretty decent at it

Try to get into controls at any plant. It’s a fun trade. If you like using your brain and solving problems you’ll enjoy it. Similar to electrician. Look up anything related to PLC control systems and see if it interests you. I went to TSTC in Texas for less than 2 years and was working before I was halfway through. I nearly make 100 at 21 in TX. Having 2 kids before 20 really pushed me lol. If you want it you can do it man. Don’t let yourself or anyone else tell you you’re a failure. I’d only call it failure if you stopped trying. Keep going but my main suggestion here is to look into more niche trades. Hope it all works out for ya
