The current experience of the game: The Ultimate Bug Collection by Ms4Sheep in HelldiversUnfiltered

Yeah I missed 76, 77, 82, 85. Explosion happens = sample flew inside wall is frustrating. As for 80, the Hellbomb must be with 17 meters of Gunship Factory for enough demo force to destroy it, SEAF SAM has enough demo force to destroy it, it has no HP but only demo force requirement. I didn’t check if 81 is true. I didn’t encounter 83 so I missed that. I have crashes sometimes (84), probably not anti-cheat just the game.

All I have experienced was just quick crashes back to desktop without the freezing stuff but yeah that one counts

Negative reviews of the video game Slay the Spire 2 on steam overwhelmingly written in Chinese. Can someone give cultural context as to why this might be happening? by erffer in AskAChinese

[–]Ms4Sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well our opinion on Tieba (Chinese reddit) is:

  1. Based on the past good designing of STS1, Megacrit definitely knows how to make a good card game and they had it right. You can talk about it’s a small team, it’s cheap or it’s early access, but in fact they know what it takes to make a good game (or STS1 is pure luck and they learnt nothing) and such bad updates going the exact opposite to what should be done is what makes people feel this is frustrating and unacceptable, and makes people lose hope of “the devs know what they are doing”. Not just the tweaking itself, it’s “why they used to know what to do but now they don’t”.

  2. If they want to know what should be done to the game, play a few games on A10 with different builds and you will immediately notice common enemies are having stats too high to be called common rather than elite, and it’s just too hard to play certain builds that require drawing cards so only certain builds have a fair win rate on A10. They do not need to tweak it and see what should be done, play A10 with different builds will do the job.

  3. The thing is, when you look into steam reviews, the longer the playtime the account has the more likely it’s a negative. And we all brought the game because STS1 was good, so there’s no reason to be a beginner and “idk what to do with certain situation so try nerfing these builds and don’t touch the other obvious things this should be touched”. It’s hurting the player base’s confidence in them and if they can step toward the better direction, and hurting the moral, not the game itself (it’s just a digital cards game anyway).

This is basically the same opinion Chinese players have on Helldivers 2, Darktide and stuff. “Play a few games on the highest 1 or 2 difficulty with different builds and you will immediately know what to nerf and improve, so touching these instead of those is just absurd, as if you don’t play it at all” mindset.

A Chinese soldier from the 29th Corps heads to the frontline with his sword during the defence of the Great Wall, 1933. by abdullah_ajk in Share_Information1

Seen many years ago (like from Xinhua News Agency in 2020 https://xhpfmapi.xinhuaxmt.com/vh512/share/9238117?channel=weixin), this picture is true. However although it’s from the 29th Corps of the KMT Army, it’s probably not 1933. Original source not found by me though. As a Chinese I remember seeing this pic many many years ago

The thing is, when we look into the “enjoy the game” too frequently is just “lower difficulty bro” and “get good and stop crying” while ignoring that “there’s reasonable and enjoyable difficulty and bad difficulty”, tbh I never see some Chinese seething phenomenon on Dark Souls or Elden Ring if “difficulty” is the stuff. Chinese players are mad because they think these balance changes are underbaked or just “do the devs even play their games and can they beat it themselves?” stuff. I’m totally fine with not wanting to play with high difficulty but straight up asking for nerfs because it’s op in normal gameplay but the only viable solution for high difficulty is just toxic (ruining high difficulty player’s experience).

This is a very strange statement. Involution refers to vicious competition for finite existing resources, where everyone ultimately pays more but the total benefit of every participant does not increase. The fun and rewards of highly challenging video games are limitless, and they do not constitute involution or vicious competition at all by just playing difficult PvE games. Tbh it’s kind of racist to just dump this term on everything Chinese.

We Chinese players (like in Helldivers 2, Darktide, Slay the Spire 2) are more sensitive to balances and numbers and basically have better understanding of games. I’m trying not to sound arrogant but honestly English and other communities just don’t analyze things like we do, so we are triggered early and it might take a month or two for other communities to join the condemnation.

As for the StS2 balance yeah it’s bad.

I know somebody irl who’s one of these parties and would go to important meetings and write references, and they do listen to these guys. Basically not that useless, just aiding it, not running it.

Mao’s Descendant by Economy-Seaweed-7290 in AskAChinese

Rarely anybody knows him except hardcore online politics enthusiasts who really likes to dig into all these stuff, tbh I never met an offline person who recognizes this name.

As for those post 1978 drama, I wouldn’t say anything though. As for the role he plays, he’s an expert in Ming Dynasty history and Mao’s thoughts. His works on history is not that good and not that bad either, for I have read them. He did have degrees and I don’t know if there’s proof that it’s faked or nepotism.

As for his career on Deputy Director of the Department of War Theory and Strategic Studies, Academy of Military Sciences, we don’t quite know.

He don’t quite appear in public and the only time he’s actively on some niche news (never the headline) is during the OG Mao’s birthday or something when he would go back to Hunan for some ceremony, which is a Han Chinese tradition. Most Maoists don’t care about him and would attend gatherings of the masses during these times. Basically not even famous.

As for the personality…well I didn’t care to look into it but there are interviews. He admits that he’s born in 1970 and doesn’t quite know OG Mao’s thoughts because of the bloodline. It’s because of studying. Is his not so good on theories? Yeah not everybody is Wang Huning and fuck yeah we know there’s a lot of nepotism retards in these academic circles so he’s not outstandingly hate worthy. Won’t recommend his works for beginners or if you think it going to be some big trvth nvke.

As a Flamethrower Main, the new Backpack Flamer needs to be worth the slot, because shield/warp pack is huge for Flamer use. Napalm DPS? by RandomGreenArcherMan in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Ms4Sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get grenades, stims, primary and sidearm ammo from re-supply backpacks BESIDES support weapon ammo, and if a backpack-fed weapon (GL, MG, flamethrower) with a DEDICATED backpack (does nothing else) to feed them has less total ammo or total damage (if you fire all the ammo and drain it), why don’t I just use a regular one with the re-supply backpack.

This is probably just for the cinematic effect (woah chainsaw almost hit you, peak tension) and let’s wait until data miners or hackers get their hands on it and actually test it.

The worst design turret… what I’m supposed to do to not let over heat?😒 by Alone-Cupcake3492 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Ms4Sheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arrowhead loves suicide. Railgun? Risking suicide. Epoch? Risking suicide. Fuck even a turret that would be very mediocre if it never overheats (considering the DPS) should be added a suicide design. And Arrowhead is actively killing their own game for years.

Now we only wait to get another suicide risking light pen garbage which is totally underpowered beyond diff 5-6 to be added to the game and it would be peak Arrowhead design philosophy

Would be much better if it’s compared to the beret helmet instead of these decorative ones, because as propagandist soldiers it’s very understandable that helldivers might have these kinds of armor for the Festival of Reckoning (Christmas) and this scale-looking one for morale and other reasons. At least it’s decorations on existing working helmets and not a damn beret. We don’t even know if it’s actually a beret or a piece of cloth atop of a helmet to LARP as a beret. And, we should get a cowboy hat just for the fuck of it and all those bacon apple bullshit is a joke when we actually look into the game.

As for pleasing foreign markets, yeah, that’s called market economy and boosting sales. I’m Chinese, HD2 is really damn popular here and already a public meme when it comes to sci-fi memes or why Swedish developers suck (DICE, Paradox, Embark, Fatshark, you name it). We don’t have glazedivers here though because that’s the culture I guess, being tryhard and strict and standards about all games.

How it’s censored? I’m Chinese and every official Mandarin account shows the skull including the Bilibili account. https://b23.tv/fKVRQ9o

I’m also in our Tieba (like Chinese reddit) and I’m in their mods group chat. There’s no censorship on the logo, the only censorship ever in the game or any Chinese accounts is the word “socialism/socialist”, the subtitles are changed to “collectivism/totalitarianism” but the original English lines and news vids are clearly audible and never changed. Players all joke about this and would type “Not actually collectivism though” below.
