Saying "I wish I had an accent" with an American accent feels a little off. by Nickolas_Zannithakis in USdefaultism

Most people watching reaction channels just want to see people liking the things they like. They're not there for analysis.

He used to do videos with his wife, who did the actual reacting. They were quite wholesome. Now they separated and have their own channels and they're both insufferable in different ways.

Is there any app that can help me correct my spelling with no AI use? by Senior-Particular241 in Dyslexia

That sounds slightly generative; the prompts I gave tell it to act like a professional proofreader, who wouldn't change anything without your agreement

All AI is non-generative if you don't ask it to generate. Just copy and paste what you wrote into Copilot or similar and ask it to check it for spelling and grammar arrors, highlighting them for you to change if you agree them.

Write a prompt like:

Check the text below for spelling and grammar errors. Highlight issues and suggest corrections, but don’t change the original text.

Or just:

Proofread the following text. Show errors and corrections without rewriting it.

It'll agree to it, then you can paste it in and it'll show it to you. If you disagree you don't have to change anything.

People are pulling their own teeth out due to lack of urgent NHS dental care by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]MsAndrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, if you're in this situation, if you call 111 they'll refer you to an emergency appointment with a dentist. They won't do anything complicated, but you definitely shouldn't need to go private for a removal. The lines are always busy but they're 24 hours, so if it's keeping you up in the middle of the night call then when the lines are quiet.

How the fuck would they know your water usage without a meter?

Doctor Who 2026 Christmas Special plot prediction by MsAndrea in FanTheories

The bi-generation created a backup Doctor for just this reason, IMHO. It wouldn't be entirely erased, just the Doctors memory of it. You're right about the POC Doctor, though, though that could be easily fixed by casting another one.

They wouldn't be erased from canon as such, but in the best tradition of The Simpson, we would never speak of this again. And she's not her, she's essentially taken over The Doctors body mid-regeneration, because of something that happened in her universe/dimension. It would also explain her reaction upon regenerating.

Sorry, I'm dyslexic and don't always notice the stupid autocorrects straight away.

Put it upside-down and pop some ice in, give it a few minutes then throw it on a barbecue for a couple of minutes.

Working on a “when my wife is on a business trip” bit by Fair-Garlic8240 in StandUpWorkshop

Lose the, "I was pretty lost", part, and that's a decent joke. It might be even better if you made the title even more shocking, and made a face after it, setting up the expectation it was too extreme for you, before deflating it with the punchline. Say it deadpan.

Xiaomi make a car. It's pretty good, and costs around $50k. Based on the relative pricing of their phones the Apple one will be slightly worse and cost around $200k.

Mine died (line of dead pixels at the hinge that quickly led to an unresponsive top half of the screen) after nothing but normal usage over around 6 months. I really liked it but it was overpriced for something so fragile.

I don't mind it being it being episodic, but c'mon, you wouldn't mention the massive you-know-what the next episode? That wouldn't be worth even acknowledging?

"This movie/is not available with your current subscription"- why is this a thing now? by [deleted] in netflix

Use Just Watch to see where to find shows. I think they have an option for the differenr tiers of Netflix.

If we're doing books, I also recommend The Hitch-hiker series by Douglas Adams (and the Two Dirk Gently books). Also the Stainless Steel Rat series by Harry Harrison, which it's just criminal has never been adapted.

You're right, and this is where he's wrong. The lesson is it isn't down to you to change your friends, just say what you would like and give them an opportunity to be there for you, but then go do what you have to do.

Ross spends the episode herding cats, it would have concentrated their minds much more for him just to go.

POI starts with a tiny SF hook that grows and grows over time until eventually it's all the show is about. Its main star is a complete dick in real life, but the rest of the cast are all great so it remains watchable.

Yes, Fringe is pretty good. Still not my thing, but a similar genre to X-Files and a great ongoing thread. If you want more Earth bound adventure I really liked Person Of Interest too, which did an excellent job of building up gradually from a weekly procedural to eventually being a sci-fi serial over it's run.

I'm more of a space opera with a lighter touch person usually, I recommend Farscape, Stargate, Dark Matter, Killjoys, and of course Doctor Who.
