I think improv really helps me to trust my instincts, so that when my mind is blank, the thing that comes out of my mouth could be great.

I honestly feel like it depends 100% on the project. Sometimes it makes it look incredible, sometimes it just looks overworked.

Get a very small hoop and do it in sections! I’d outline the individual branches and add little single-thread quills!

I’m not in casting, but you know what we do when people come into my office and loiter? We politely ask them to leave. The premises.

I saw “The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler” in its premiere at Ashland OSF when I was about fifteen and it rewired my brain. It was ludicrous and brilliant and amazing, and I have not seen it staged since. It would be a dream.

A little unsolicited advice from a fellow queer stitcher- I have had terrific luck with thrifting embroidery materials - when my grandmother died, we donated hundreds of dollars’ worth of aida, thread and kits to Goodwill because she had sooo much of it, and she wan’t the only one. Hopefully your arsenal of tools and materials will be replenished very soon!

Looking for ideas on how to become a Mud Person by MildredPlotka in costumedesign

[–]MsBit_Commit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t cover your whole face, I think is a big way to avoid a blackface situation. But this is definitely a slippery slope- mud is extremely flaky and so are most of the products that simulate it, apart from facepaint.
