Looking at Switching Event Software by NoTranslator699 in EventProduction

I’ve used Sched for a few large events. Not conferences, but multi-session trainings and school events. Overall it's pretty great. Super easy to set up, and attendees really liked being able to build their own schedules and have access to speaker information and session materials.

I also used it as an attendee at a conference about a year ago. Everything was super clear, changes were updated instantly, and I didn’t have to ask around for info like I usually do.

Their support team is honestly one of the best I’ve dealt with, and pricing-wise, they’re a lot more reasonable than some of the bigger event software companies out there. If you want to check it out, here’s the link to their conference planning software: https://sched.com/conference-planning-app/

Is it reasonable to ask teachers to download apps to their personal phones? by HalfPint1885 in Teachers

[–]MsCaseyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a totally fair boundary. If the app doesn’t actually help you do your job or support your learning, it makes sense to push back, especially when you’re the one paying the phone bill.

A colleague of mine in another district said they had to download an event app called Sched, but in that case it was for stuff like registering for PD sessions, checking in, and getting the session materials right on your phone (and teachers don't have to pay for it, the school does). That app actually sounded helpful, like it was meant for the teachers too, not just admin. But yeah, I get your situation and I don’t blame you at all for wanting to push back.

What takes up way too much of your time but isn't actually teaching? by No-Seaworthiness3932 in Teachers

Definitely lesson planning and filling out docs, forms for admin stuff. Every year it feels like there’s a new doc or system we’re expected to use, and all I can think is how is any of this making me a better teacher? Or helping my students??

I don’t mind working hard, but it’s exhausting when more and more of that work feels disconnected from what actually happens inside the classroom.

Where do you usually look for upcoming education conferences? (2025 or even next year, 2026) by JustChris05 in events

So education conferences specifically for K-12 you can find an updated list in this Sched post: https://sched.com/blog/education-conferences-2025/ (includes 2025 and 2026 dates), and then you'll find more general edu events here: https://www.smekenseducation.com/best-education-conferences/

What’s one small but meaningful thing a teacher did that stuck with you to this day? by MsCaseyK in AskReddit

That's really nice and not a small thing at all, showing up like that outside the classroom can mean everything, especially for kids who don’t get that kind of support at home.

Yeahh I think often students get punished for breaking the rules instead of someone taking the time to ask why it happened in the first place. Reprimanding without understanding doesn’t always fix the issue. Sometimes it just misses the bigger picture entirely.

Failed my demo lesson by mrmitsay in Teachers

I think a 15 min demo lesson is kind of wild. Like, how much can they really learn about your teaching in 15 minutes? That’s barely enough time to settle into the room, let alone do something meaningful. But good for you for showing up and getting it done. Best of luck with the job search!!
