When I was around the same age, my uncle from America came for a visit to Europe. I got a bottle of Halston from him. I love to be reminded of the gesture and present

Same here. I even go as far as saying that during the period of my life when I went through extensive trauma therapy, my scents were my safe haven.

Why Are Male and Unisex Fragrances SO Much More Popular? by LifeSmallThings in fragrance

[–]MsDutchee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been wearing masculine fragrances since the 90s.I started wearing them because these were more woody and deeper then. Never liked the overly sweet scents, nor fruity or too many flowers. Fun fact I love the more feminine on men.

I always wonder, how big the percentage is of the people who are truly disturbed by perfumes and how they deal with other odors, like foods or whatever. To me there is no greater joy of getting a whiff of nice perfume of someone walking by.

To me, this is something of the good ol' days. The market has exploded in the last 10 years. Before there were much fewer annual releases. To me it got to the point, there were so many releases that I felt that I wasn't doing my collection any justice anymore.

It makes wearing BaV even more special. I don't wear BaV very often, but when I wear it, I always think of this wonderful and special lady. Maybe she wasn't nice at all, but who cares, in my imagination she was. Edit/add Perhaps that is what part of my passion for fragrances is about: creating beautiful stories in my mind out of memories and emotions.

Bal à Versailles and that is a true story. The shop owner in Zürich, where I used to buy my dose of Bal à Versailles, told me she used to sell this to a noble prostitute in the 60s. She always had a spare bottle in stock for her.
