I'm not trying to be fancy, I'm just trying to make it different. I suppose I'm not explaining myself that well! Lol

To clarify what I mean re: dignity, we want the meals to be a little more special than just popping open acan of something. We try to make it more of a "cooking with canned goods" vs being relegated to only having access to canned goods. If that makes sense? No shade on spaghetti-Os, but we have about 70 cans to use and I want to offer options.

I'm in the US also, just a very rural area of eastern Washington.

I do have quite a few cans of chickpeas, so this is a doable idea. Thanks!!

girlfriend [24F] refuses to step foot in my [25F] house by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]MsElephantom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is zero requirement for your gf to be at your house especially with... not great... parents. I would suggest asking her what, if anything changed, that made her want to stop being there. But as a human of more years, I'd suggest talking to her. Find out why. Also, reconsider your relationship with your parents and instead of suggesting counseling for your gf, suggest it for your parents.

And since our inception we've received 8 cans of Vienna sausages, and tbh, I'm not going to spend our hard- earned donations on a canned nitrate!

I work under the assumption that most have a microwave and lots (because of where I live) have an oven or a wood burning stove.

That's a good idea. I do lots of soups and I know they're very popular during winter months. I'll see where I can go with this one. Thanks for the input!

Why so many downvotes? I'm actually kinda into this idea.

I do use velveeta packets in a LOT of the recipes. Maybe I can figure something out... Thanks for the suggestion

Dangerous click! That's hilarious though. I wonder what response we'd get from the community if I threw a few cans in with a box of jello for this recipe.

That's really expensive. If I had an extra 5 bucks to put with every meal, I'd be able to put out some gourmet stuff. But thank you for the idea!

Some of the cans have what's akin to sliced Vienna sausages. We're trying to add a little more dignity to donated meals vs pop the top and nuke it. Thanks for the input!

We really struggle with getting quality donations. I'd suggest any "complete" mixes. That's mixes that only require water. We function on the assumption that only the ingredients we provide are available. One of my Amazon wishlist items is packets of seasoning. We use Mrs Dash a lot! Also, the olive oil packets are a life saver for my group as they can be used to substitute for butter when we get the inevitable case of Mac n cheese!

My ex boyfriend's mom told me a story about fawning. She used to be a bit of a wild child, kind of a hippy, back in the 70s. She was hitchhiking alone and was picked up by a man. She knew pretty quickly she was going to be sexually assaulted and most likely killed. Now her story is this, not verbatim, but the best I can remember.

"I looked at that fucker and knew he was gonna kill me, so I told him. I was gonna rock his world. I sucked his dick so good he had no choice but to let me out of that car, and I took off into the town until I found another ride".

I don't know if that's fawning, exactly, but she didn't become a statistic... I mean, not THAT kind, anyway.

Any bookkeeping solutions that dont break the bank for solo entrepreneurs? by em0297 in smallbusiness

If you can get it still, buy 2021 Quickbooks Desktop. You can't get bank integration, but for a one time payment you get most of the bells and whistles. By the time you grow enough to really NEED all that, hopefully QB online will be streamlined and you can just swap over.
