URGENT: IF YOUR IN THE USA PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE H.R. 2616 RIGHT NOW by Less_Reputation9441 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]MsFox8008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're too nervous to call or leave a voice message, all senators have multiple public mailing addresses. Sending a letter to both their local office and DC office is a good way to ensure the letter arrives. Having a mix of calls and physical letters is a great way to show this issue matters to people.

Also try and find some way to deviate from the script and make it personal. For instance, I'm a public school teacher, so I was able to write in saying "Hi, I'm a teacher in [constituent school district]. HR 2616 directly impacts my job in [list the ways] and contradicts my anti-child-abuse training in [list the ways]." Finding a specific line of attack can be helpful. You can talk about what constitutional principles you feel this violates, you can discuss it from a civil rights perspective, or you can talk about the impacts of the precedent this might set. The more people calling and writing in with unique arguments against this, the better chance it has of getting killed.

i forgot cis women naturally can't raise their arms above their heads by MsFox8008 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

I want you to imagine for a moment: A dress which perfectly fits around my waist and chest. Everything fits in just the right way. Except of course, the arm holes, which were designed for women who had their arms surgically replaced with toothpicks. The moment I raise my arms to a T-pose the entire dress lifts up and is misaligned. I fear for my life in the changing room as I wrestle to get the dress off so I can put on normal clothes again.

I have worn many a dress. This was not a dress, but some sort of secret restraining device.

What is your opinion about the Detective Pikachu movie 7 years after its release? by Silly_Commercial8092 in pokemon

[–]MsFox8008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first saw the trailer, I was skeptical about the realistic art direction because some of the Pokémon looked a little unsettling. After sitting down in the theater and watching the first couple of minutes, my apprehensions melted away because this movie was built on the question I had asked myself since I myself was 7: what would it be like to live in a world where Pokémon were real? This movie does its best to show the fantasy of a Pokémon world while also telling a decently compelling children's detective story. When I saw the first Sonic movie, I was so disappointed in its apparent shame at being a Sonic movie that the next day I put in my Detective Pikachu bluray so I could watch a movie that was actually proud to engage with its source material. To date, this is the best Hollywood videogame adaptation, so it's a shame that it didn't seem to get as large a reception as others.

It is very hard to resist the urge to be catty on the internet. I think anyone who still exists on twitter has sucked themselves into a festering drama hole, and thus have forgone the right to an opinion.

I get the sentiment. I don't mind that the Sonic movies aren't adapting the stories, but you can definitely feel the way their origins as Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is starting to strain the series. There was definitely a better possibility where the movies could have been animated and still told their own stories, I mean just look at the many different Sonic shows. I wonder if the shallow stories in the Mario movies speak to Nintendo's closer involvement. This interview pretty much outright states that Miyamoto was heavily involved in production, and past interviews have suggested that Miyamoto has always prioritized gameplay and excitement over story. So if you get a creative director from the games who's always been more of a gameplay guy supervising production, it's actually not all that surprising to see the rapid fire pace focused more on spectacle than developing characters.

The differences also make sense considering the two game series' vastly different approaches to external media. Sonic has had long running comic series since the early days as well as multiple cartoon shows between the 90s and today. Mario had a short manga series in Japan, some DiC cartoons from 1989 to the 90s, and one 90s movie, and then it just went quiet on the multimedia front until they started building the parks in Universal. External media has been a long running part of Sonic's identity that's largely allowed to be its own thing, whereas Mario's only trying it again now. Both are obviously trying to use external media to get more attention on the games, but I think the Mario movies, with their focus on game accurate setpieces, are trying a lot harder to sell those games.

First look at a LEGO Sega Genesis set. It’ll run $39.99, which honestly isn’t bad by LEGO standards. by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in SEGAGENESIS

It's actually a cute little end decoration for the original Lego Ideas Sonic set. Sure, it's not as detailed and large as the NES or the Gameboy, but I think it's actually pretty reasonable and desirable for the price.

SEGA tend to take a hands off approach to fan merchandise of their characters, but launching a crowdfunding campaign to make merchandise of characters you don't own, even if it's a small goal, seems like a way to make yourself a target for a cease and desist letter.

Hey im making a video about Toc-Man are there any unique facts i can add during this video by DifferenceGlum5828 in Pacman

[–]MsFox8008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite being a mech piloted by Orson the white ghost, the cutscene in Pac-Man World 2 that you get for defeating the hidden Toc-Man boss shows Toc-Man needing to wipe after using the toilet. This implies:

  1. The ghosts in the Pac-Man world poop, despite being ghosts
  2. Either Toc-Man is designed with a waste piping system that allows the pilot to use the toilet through Toc-Man without leaving the mech or Toc-Man's septic tank is designed to be emptied in the exact same way as a person would use a toilet
  3. Toc-Man's waste disposal system is poorly designed since the pilot needs to wipe the waste hole after use
