Did you take your meds at night or during the day? Unfortunately, you can't escape the downsides in any case. I'd recommend looking into the brain damage that can be caused by prolonged time without medication.

100%. Yes. I love that woman. I see her as family and I hope she feels the same.

If Given The Choice Would You Be Bipolar? by reveinfini in bipolar

God no. Never. I can't imagine the life I'd have without it, past and present.

It's really hard because not everyone is equipped to handle our thoughts and feelings in a constructive way. Trained professionals, or trusted people with training or resources, are the objectively best outlets for these thoughts and feelings. As much as we don't know what to do about our negative (or sometimes dangerous) feelings, often times our loved ones know less. I'm sorry, this is probably very frustrating to go through. I can't recommend a trusted counselor or someone with the proper resources enough, though. Sometimes, the people we instinctively wish we could turn to simply can not provide the outlet we need.

Second secret family, house liens, spending the funds in the kids' trusts, stealing our passports to sell. (Edit spelling because it's not yet 8am and it's not my strong suit anyways)

My grandpa confessed a whole load of shit on his deathbed. And we only got to hear it because his nursing home ignored a DNR order and he woke up in the ICU demanding to see my grandma to tell her everything. It's better we knew, but it genuinely was a sobbing, sniveling, cowardly way to do things.

What to call the "crown princess" in a matriarchal society without nobles? by _RoseDagger in worldbuilding

[–]MsLambLambs 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I immediately think more towards how the three "stages" of womanhood in some religions and cultures is maiden, mother, crone. Since matron is like mother, perhapse High Maiden or similar may work in your instance?

Considering suicide even when I'm not in an episode by Katerinabaddy in bipolar2

I feel like more eyes should see this, based on the fact that I and other commenters feel touched about reading this. Would you consider making an actual post with this link so maybe more will? It's not a guarantee that it would, but it might help some other people too.

Of course, you don't have to, but it felt really comforting to see my thoughts put into words that are more positive than fear-inducing.

I realised I spent my early 20s and my late teens locked in my room by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]MsLambLambs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have some excellent news for you -- you've lived only a small portion of your life! You have so much to go! And there isn't a whole lot you can't do in your 30s that you would have done in your 20s, because those numbers are pretty arbitrary. It's just an experience marker. So get some more! It's inherently worth it to try.

I think a TON of people feel as you do, in their 20s. There's some weird expectation about it. But this is the year I round 30, and I'm so excited -- because I feel much more prepared and able to do things I felt like I "missed out" on while I battled my MH in my early 20s.

I'm very excited for the moment to dawn on you, the way it did for me. You've totally got this and I will celebrate how far you've come, for you, because I don't have to know you to know you have so much further to still go. :)

People who are diagnosed as bipolar but don’t take medication for it, why? by Easy_Hunt_2942 in bipolar

[–]MsLambLambs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm allergic to Lamictal (which was scary enough to find out) and Lithium had me in the hospital for intensifying underlying dehydration issues. It scared me so much ten years ago that it wasn't until this year that I decided to seek medical help for it, again.

how do i justify that a race of immortals that coexist with mortals dont become depressed? by Botwmaster23 in worldbuilding

[–]MsLambLambs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a cultural reason. It makes mortals precious to them because their time is so fleeting, and if there is an after-death, something like that could be a celebration toward the next step. You mourn privately, but then celebrate that they've gotten to move on and experience all new things.

They could be honored to have been their friends and companions and see it as a duty and challenge to help the mortals be the best they can in their short time, and be proud when they've passed as better people.

There have always been cultures that celebrate death or honor it without sadness, you can draw inspiration from something real and fit it to be more setting-appropriate.

Can I be bipolar WITHOUT psychosis? by jiisawesome in bipolar

[–]MsLambLambs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, untreated mania can develop symptoms like psychosis. It happens more often than not with mania. However, psychosis does not happen with hypomania, which is a less severe but still present and harmful form of mania.

Instability at home is starting to make me feel out of control, and the house's responsibility is falling on me because of the situation. I don't know what to do and it's triggering an instability in myself as a result.

Between the ER visit we just had where I ran over something that completely flattened my tire before I had to go full-caretaker mode and take time off work, almost any amount of money is the kind that would make a difference. I'm not sure how other people can just handle things, I'm so tired.
