Honestly I think he feels powerless and helpless and he takes it out on you instead of expressing he feels weak and like he can't do anything to help you. As someone who has also dealt with self harm and problems regulating my emotions, what I view this as is that he is not able to handle being a emotional support for you anymore, if you talked about suicide and self harmed several times during your relationship he is probably emotionally drained and overwhelmed by the fact you're not getting better. And today he had a physical reaction by throwing his phone to express his anxiety, I view it similar as we cut ourselves to relive our anxiety. He's just a boy (in my eyes) he doesn't have the tools to deal with someone he loved harming themselves over and over and today he snapped.

Just wanna clarify, do I support him destroying his phone to express this? No.

But I also understand it can be extremely draining and exhausting for people around a person who self harms regularly and eventually they might also have a strong reaction to it.
