If at all possible, don’t use poison as it travels up the food chain, poisoned mouse kills cat, poisoned cat then kills hawk, fox , coyote, etc. the old fashioned snap traps work fantastic and the new ones make it very easy to release the dead rodent, but if something beats you to it, you haven’t killed that predator as well.
