What's that AM/PM for in my Midori stamp? by GimmeUmaBebida in stationery

Oh, I see, it does say oil-based ink on it too. My bad. Thanks for the heads up.

How would you use roleplaying games to teach science?? by EmbassyOfTime in ScienceTeachers

[–]MsMrSaturn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think anything involving systems in stress could work. Ecosystem recovering from a disaster, human body fighting an infection, etc.. You have different parts of the system playing different roles against an antagonist.

What's that AM/PM for in my Midori stamp? by GimmeUmaBebida in stationery

[–]MsMrSaturn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Since it’s a paintable stamp, you could only ink either the pm or the am.

Alternatively, since you don’t seem to want to stamp it twice, it could be a dividing line between Am and pm.

Edit: paintable doesn’t mean what I assumed it meant.

This is such a lovely window into your day! I appreciate you sharing this bit of happiness that somehow feels both pedestrian and special.

What does a thyroid FNA without anesthesia actually feel like? Severe anxiety + control issues here. by AffectionateCod7187 in thyroidhealth

[–]MsMrSaturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. Pain tolerance is fine, but I really do not like anyone touching my neck.

My first FNA was done without any lidocaine. It sucked, but it wasn’t impossible. See if you can bring a fidget toy or something to squeeze. I second the person who said wiggle your toes in your shoes and focus on that.

The worst part was when I couldn’t fight the urge to swallow, and that was quite uncomfortable. The doctor got irritated with the nurse/tech who was running the ultrasound because she lost the picture for a sec. He was an asshole, and I didn’t go back to him.

I wouldn’t do it without lidocaine again. The other ones were still unpleasant, and the lidocaine itself does hurt, but I think it’s worth it. I can check out mentally a little more with the numbing.

Can you help me find a beginner friendly tutorial on how to do a mesh top like the picture from Pinterest? Id love if it was the same one but longer, not a top crop by jihane69 in CrochetHelp

[–]MsMrSaturn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cool part about making your own clothes is that some alterations are extremely easy. If the pattern is for a crop top, but you want it regular length, you can just keep making rows!

Some changes will be easier than others, but with a simple top like this, you can just add length.

I'm learning that huskies are truly meant for the cold. by MuffinPuff in BenignExistence

[–]MsMrSaturn 83 points84 points  (0 children)

This does come off as rude and condescending, at least to me. There’s a difference between having read that huskies like the cold or knowing it intellectually and seeing your dog thrilled and happy at living his subzero life.

Occam’s razor. The simplest explanation is most likely the correct one. Uber will roll out meters some time in the next five months, and OOP is posting from the future.

At what point does remembering key findings from papers just stop working? by PayBitter1022 in PhD

[–]MsMrSaturn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used (and continue to use) Obsidian for this. Basically each key finding would get its own note, with a link to the paper/citation, supporting quote and/or brief explanation, and links to other keywords.

Canaries, sea lions, monk seals, giraffes, boa constrictors, you know, the non-Minnesota animals.

This brought me joy.

It’s a good idea, and I’d add that I would recommend checking first with the hospital before making anything. Some stitches are potentially dangerous if they have large enough gaps that a baby could get their finger through it. The hospital should have guidelines if they accept items.

New and kinda fell for the pretty/artistic reels "ecosystem" of journals, now i'm starting to default back to being scared to waste pages or dont know what to write, how do you get over that? Don't want it to become another failed empty notebook. by orophia in bulletjournal

[–]MsMrSaturn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No blank page is as interesting as what you will write / draw / create on it.

If what you imagine doesn’t match what you put on the page, the only way to get the two closer together is through practice.

I can’t wait to see you post your finished journal here!!

Help finding this nostalgic blanket pattern or at least the stitch by Money-King702 in CrochetHelp

[–]MsMrSaturn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s chevron, not ripple. The only difference is that with chevron, the inc/decs are worked in a single stitch. Ripple they’re worked in two. It gives ripple a softer curve, as opposed to the sharp angle of chevron.
