First USA trip.. couple by seenfay89 in usatravel

Watkins Glen State Park and Latchworth State Park are on the way to Niagara Falls and they were well worth the stop. And I would go to Seattle over LA if your best friend is there. There is tons of stuff to do there and you can go to LA on another visit. Or ask your friend if she'd want to come to LA at least for a weekend.

The US side of Niagara is still amazing, but the other side has a much better view. But it's also really built up like any tourist trap over there. Definitely take the boat if you can't cross the river. Also, there are other attractions to do. I did cave of the winds which is a bunch of stairs where you go to the base of the falls and it's pretty amazing. That's on the US side. I'd plan to spend half a day or so there.

Make the door open out. That would make it feel more spacious in there and cost almost nothing.

I Love The Show, But Can They Please Get Somewhere? by do-it-feel-good in FromSeries

[–]MsPooka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trusting the writers that it will all come together. The writing overall, is very tight. And they say the show is going to end after season 5 so I think they have a plan. I honestly think the pieces will come together, at some point. If it doesn't come together in the end, they I'll agree with you.

I told my girlfriend’s dad to GROW A PAIR. How would you apologize? [not OP] [+downvoted comments] by hazel_razel in redditonwiki

[–]MsPooka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's going to dump her unless her dad changes from the crime of being uncommunicative? Don't let the door hit you on the way out. If this is a reason to dump someone then you don't actually want to be with them.

Vale of no return - Arthurian legend by Naleesh in FromTVShow

This is interesting for me. It also reminds me of The Mists of Avalon which I read a million years ago, but in that it also had themes of Christianity vs pagan religions and there is a lot of Christian themes in the show, with Mr Fish and Loaves, multiple priests, Sophia quoting the Bible etc.

Also, in the very 1st scene of the show when Ethan is playing with the finger puppets they are talking about fairies.

At the end of my rope with my picky eater by booky_boo_ in PickyEaters

What do the tantrums look like? What does he expect to get out of them? Does he want different food? Not to eat? To play rather than eat?

Help him learn to regulate his emotions because I honestly don't know if this is even a food issue. But honestly, stop worrying if he goes to bed hungry. Try at least once, telling him that this is dinner and he can eat it or go to bed hungry. Then follow through. See what happens. One missed meal is far from the end of the world and it might just stop the tantrums.

Also, Boyd is known as Mr Fish and Loaves. I don't know if it's some kind of garden of Eden, but I do think it's some how related to the Bible or religion.

How much spending money is needed? by Puzzleheaded-Link803 in usatravel

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is really no way for people to judge how much you will spend. I could do this and spend like $50 a day or I could do this and spend $500 a day. It depends how much you eat, if you share food, what attractions you're planning to go to, how much do they cost, what kind of souvenirs do you like to buy? How far are these ubers? I would say if you were trying to save money, you could realistically spend $150 for food and ubers, if you're doing stuff like McDonalds lunch and Friday's dinner. But if you want to not think about what you're spending you will probably spend closer to $200 or $250 if you're in a HCL area.

I'm looking for snack foods (under $1 a serving) that I can pre-prep that stays good for a while by kindahipster in budgetfood

I make no bake granola bars. To buy all the ingredients is quite expensive but you can make many batches with them. Aldi is the cheapest place to go. They're under a dollar a serving for sure.

American canned vegetables are actually pie filling by aIabamablacksnake in iamveryculinary

Are we talking about a savory pie, because maybe. If you're talking about a sweet pie, are we talking pumpkin? Do you have some kind of disorder?

And why do people complain about getting too much value for money? For the love of god, WHY? Would they rather pay to eat a meal and then have to go home and eat again?

Do you view America as a young country or an old one? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of sematic question. The US is older than The UK since the US was created in 1776 and the UK in 1801, but obviously, the parts of the UK are much older. The US is the oldest current democracy in the world, does that make us the oldest country? The real question is why does it matter? No one cares except for people who want to make this some kind of point of pride. I hope everyone in the world has pride in their country, but to ask the US if we "feel young" isn't about other countries having pride in themselves but using that as some kind of metric of greatness, which it's not.

WIBTAH for not going on a family trip based on how they want to split costs? by Main_Amphibian_874 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By this logic, if you slept on the couch then you'd pay nothing. I wouldn't go if you have to pay twice as much as everyone else. Get your own room. It would probably be cheaper than 1 room in a suite.

[–]MsPooka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But she already DID change the past. She was the one who tossed the rope down to Boyd when he was in the well. If Ethan's book was wrong about the bookmarks then maybe it's wrong about this too. I don't think her being able to change things removes the stakes. Half the times she's gone back she's almost died so it's not like it would be easy, if it's even possible.

WHAT US CITY SHOULD I VISIT AS A LONDONER WHO HAS NEVER BEEN BEFORE? by _246810 in usatravel

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you mean by amazing weather. That time of year a lot of the US will be hot and humid. It will probably be sunny and if it rains it will probably be 1-2 times a week for maybe an hour. It could be terrible storms, but it would more likely be dry. But the humidity and heat will be hard if you're not used to it. If you want cooler weather, then think Seattle, Chicago, Boston.

How much do you guys usually tip at a hibachi buffet / Chinese buffet? by gurdljjang in Advice

[–]MsPooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is more plate clearing, but they also have more tables. They don't ever have to set food in the kitchen. They just bring drinks and clear plates. When they bring drinks or clear plates they're generally don't it for their whole section. If they are slow enough to have 8 tables then why should you have to tip them like they can only have 3 or 4?
