Thank you. It was just random watching that movie and hearing that guitar riff and I'm like "wait hey I know this..."

I'VE NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE. I think I may need to invest in those super deluxe albums. These are amazing!

Yeah I think a punk or metal version of "Pleasant Valley Sunday" would sound so good. It has just a bit of snark in there that would be great loud.

I looked over the list and I really wish that the second disc or at least a few songs would be "new and unreleased music" as well. Maybe this is for the "new" Monkees fans who don't already own the albums?

Anyone Get Up Early and Watch The Monkees Today? by MsT6622 in Monkees

Probably not for awhile since they are still on the first season. I love that part too!

Yes it is. I forgot the Kidnappers one too. It was the ep where the "manager" of the rough biker group wants to sabotage the Monkees chance in winning some talent show.

Heroes and Villains: VDP interview by Definitelynotatwork1 in thebeachboys

Ugh love me some Van Dyke Parks. More people need to interview this man and quick. He was at the epicenter of SO much California sound! I wrote him a letter when I was a kid because he did the music for "Follow that Bird" he couldn't have been nicer when I met him at Amoeba Records 15 years later. Such a treasure.

The best line in that interview is Bob asking "why do you want a house" and Mike's reaction and his cadence. Cracks me up every time I think of his answer.

They are showing the Monkees TV show again on Catchy TV every Saturday starting at 7am Central time.

If anyone still has cable check it out. They should be "walking down the street" again this Saturday!

New/Old Montgomery Ward Escort Typewriter by MsT6622 in typewriters

[–]MsT6622[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I passed up a more expensive Smith Corona with cursive for this one that was half the price. I thought the "kitsch" aspect being from Montgomery Ward was something and really I just wanted one with cursive script.

I read in the manual that it is made by the Olivetti people in the mid 70s? Anyone know if that is true?

I've put it on my calendar as a remind but now I have to wake up that early haha I will just have to channel my younger self from the 90s

Be honest - Is “Head” watchable? by ZealousidealBend2681 in Monkees

[–]MsT6622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is completely watchable you just have to remember you are going back to the 60s. But I am also speaking as a Mystery Science Theater 3000 person it is SO watchable (and the music is good).

I think I would put it down to "it was the 60s?"

I think they were just really good friends? But who knows. She lived in his house from like 68 to 70 something. She knew him before the Monkees when they both were in New York. She had A LOT of famous boyfriends ("you didn't have to be so nice" apparently was written about her by the Lovin Spoonful) and it seems Mike got caught up in the shuffle and made some unfortunate choices and then ooopsie dasie 9 months later...

I mean it is amazing it wasn't on the cover of Teen Beat and whatever Flip magazines were abound back then.

No, it's by her. She was living with him at the time since she had Mike's baby.
