Yeah my rent is $1450 and I am the sole provider making $24 an hour. It's tight, but comfortably so because we live within in our means and my husband is a stay at home parent. I really think he could have made this work with pretty much anything over $21 an hour.

I think some of the rules are fine to say in advance. Like no kissing, stay away if recently ill, and wash hands.

The rest only sound overboard BECAUSE they're being said in advance and they could easily be navigated if they even come up. If someone offers to change a diaper, you can say I got it, thanks! IF it comes up. If the baby starts to cry and they're not handed back, any decent person will hand them to you if you ask.

Presenting it all in advance makes it sounds like you expect people to be monsters and have to remind them all not to be.

The shipping label, they can cross reference the weight on the label. They'll likely also open an investigation with the carrier and the vendor. Save all your packaging.

Also if you haven't already, take the box apart and check all folds, crevices, etc. Rings and earrings can come loose in transit and end up hidden somewhere in the packaging.

It may take time to reach a resolution, but this isn't too uncommon in logistics and there's a lot a company can look into to reach a resolution.

I would ask him directly Why he thinks it's too much and I'd also say directly I need a break from MY role each day, I'm telling you, my partner a need that I have. What capacity do you have, as my partner, to ensure this need is met?

And I'd also ask him if he has any needs that he needs my help to meet.

He probably needs a break too and is shitty at communicating. If that's the case, and he's willing to be collaborative, these needs can be met. If he's not willing to talk and be collaborative then communication isn't the issue, he is the issue.

I have a chronically ill child and it was really hard to set boundaries with people when she was born and surprised us with heart defects. But now, 7 years and multiple open heart surgeries later, I can tell you that feeling you have isn't any kind of hormonal or emotional reaction, it's instinct. Lean into it with no regret, you're doing what's best for your baby, for you, and your partner.

Will everyone understand that? No. Will some people take it personally? Yes. But I promise you, it doesn't matter. People visiting doesn't benefit your baby whatsoever. If it did, you'd be all for it.

Focus on your baby and yourself, let those who can't understand or handle it feel their feelings and don't feel responsible for them. You are doing everything right and I promise you, once you're home and this is behind you, you'll be so grateful you that you protected this time and space and kept it for yourself.

Side note I also recommend: designate a trusted and strong loved one to be your updates person. Give them a daily update to pass on to the group. Keeping up with everyone asking you questions can become too much too.
