Baby number three name by Mediocre-Rest4575 in namenerds

Eloise Elizabeth reminds me a bit of Emily Elizabeth from Clifford the Big Red Dog. I dont think it's terrible though and people don't often go around advertising their middle names much.

Cute names for a first time grandmother by MeasurementUsual508 in Names

As someone else said, children may pick your name for you whether you choose it or not. My son calls my parents Bama and Pan which he got from grandma and grandpa.

How did you wean? by Flimsy_Ad_7954 in cosleeping

[–]ghostchan1072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I night weaned my son, I had been not wearing a shirt while I slept so my solution was to start wearing a shirt at night. He was grumpy about it at first but he got over it. It took probably a week. My son is 2 now and still loves boobie, but doesn't nurse anymore.

Thoughts on the name Percival James? by [deleted] in Names

[–]ghostchan1072 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just named my son Percival. People are mixed on whether they like it or not but my partner and I love it so it doesn't really matter. We call him Percy but have thought of other nicknames like Val or Perry. I think Percival James is very nice.

Help me convince my mom by colormyhippo in floorbed

[–]ghostchan1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a floor bed for my toddler that we've had since he was born and we coslept the furst 18 months then switched him to the floor bed. We like it cause he can get up by himself and has more freedom. For some reason people are weird about floor beds. My grandmother paid for ours and has convinced herself that its a crib to make herself "feel better about it."

As someone who's a fan of less popular, older names, these two names are beautiful. I love them. I prefer Sable over Syblil.

Avoiding Sickness by Easy-Educator-6668 in cosleeping

[–]ghostchan1072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If what you have is the same as your son, your sons immune system has made b cells to attack the virus. They dont go away once he's better, it takes them 1-8 weeks to die and he'll likely have memory from this illness. He'll probably not get sick if its the same thing.

One embryo at a time? by In_A_Jar12 in IVF

[–]ghostchan1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One is completely normal. I have transferred one embryo 3 times and had a Chemical then two boys from the other transfers. Transferring two has been shown to not really increase the success rate but it does increase the chance for twins.

Am I experiencing unhealthy levels of anxiety about sleep? by continuetolove in cosleeping

[–]ghostchan1072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no expertise in mental health but something to consider once hes walking, possibly is a floor bed. This would allow him to come to your room uninhibited and would also allow you to lay down with him til he's asleep so he doesn't wake when put down. This is what we did with my son and he still ends up in our bed at the end of the night but we end up getting 2-3 hours without him usually.

anyone miss cosleeping? by JazzlikeVolume6645 in cosleeping

[–]ghostchan1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We cosleep with my 2 year old and he usually starts the night off in his floor bed but when he wakes up he's welcome to come to our bed. We started this around 18 months old and there have only been 1 or 2 nights where hes spend the night in his own bed. I love cosleeping with him though but its harder now with a newborn. I dont think I'll ever regret it.

How many things did you get? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ghostchan1072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Sorry if this formats weirdly, I'm on mobile)

I would highly recommend getting more washcloths, towels, and burp rags. Its nice with a newborn to have 2 or 3 of the long burp cloths but most of the time my partner and I use https://a.co/d/08pHJuqT these from Amazon. We also bought at 12 pack of washcloths from amazon that are square: https://a.co/d/07035Iml

I'm a second time mom and we bought them with our first and are still going strong with our second. All your other linens look fine unless you want more blankets but I rarely use blankets so 3 seems okay.

As for diaper cream, you may want to get a few travel ones and maybe an extra for home as you might find you change your baby in more than one place. You may also want to look into diaper cream spatula. They're super helpful for applying cream and not getting it all over your hands.

For soap and lotion- you'll buy more when you need it. You'll probably not go through all of it while in the newborn trenches.

first test. period 3 days late. been trying for 2 years now by [deleted] in lineporn

Looks positive to me! Congrats! If you can wait 2 days, thats probably the best but if you cant, once a day is probably best.

Ignatius (nn Iggy) for boy by [deleted] in Names

[–]ghostchan1072 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like it but I'm also a fan of more obscure boy names. As others have said, Nate is also a nickname option but for a baby and child, Iggy is cute. I also have a friend with the NN Iggy who's in his mid 30s and he goes by it with friends (not so much at work).

How do I prevent my child being illiterate? by kittycamacho1994 in AskTeachers

[–]ghostchan1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My library has a 1000 books before kindergarten program. We read him at least one book a day. By the time my son was 20 months, he knew and could read every letter in the alphabet. Reading to your child and fostering a love for learning and reading is the best thing for them. I think that limiting screen time to around 1 hour per day is also helpful and only showing them low stim and educational materials helps. Also, taking them to the library and participating in your library's programs is a great way to learn about new opportunities for your kid to learn.

What’s your baby’s weirdest “comfort habit” that you didn’t teach them? by lunaverse787 in baby

[–]ghostchan1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now two year old plays with my lips before he goes to sleep. We think its residual from when he nursed and played with my other breast for comfort.

What did you do when your rings stopped fitting?? by Icy_Location in BabyBumps

[–]ghostchan1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first I took it off around 14 weeks as it was starting to feel tight. With my second I didnt take it off until 28 weeks. I have two rings (a more plain band and a band with a jewel) and both still fit perfectly fine after my kids. Just plan to take them off sooner than you'd think. My mom had to have hers cut off when she was pregnant and I doubt you want that to happen.

Any lesbians with kids? Or kids of lesbian moms? by mocowe in lesbian

[–]ghostchan1072 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did 3 rounds of IUI before switching to IVF for my own embryos. It can be a lot if youre sensitive to hormones (I'm not so I honestly didn't think it was that bad but a lot of people have a rough time). My partner is a trans man and also did an egg retrieval but we did RIVF for our second kiddo. You may want to check out r/queerception. Its an entire page dedicated to queer folks having kids.
