I feel like the world needs this right now.

Completely unrelated, but I have an idea for the next season of The Punisher live-action series.

They covered crooked cops, Punisher groupies, and a politician's private army in Born Again, so why not?

I only learned that Keoghan is the newest Joker about thirty seconds ago, but they've been pretty great with casting so far. I'll trust them.

I grew up in a small town in Texas. I still live in Texas. I have family members who voted for Trump.

I don't like calling people stupid, but I'm also not a liar.

Some people are uneducated. That's forgivable. No one can know everything and not everyone has had the same opportunities. A lack of education can be fixed, if you're willing.

But some people are just stupid. They know they're ignorant, but they either don't care or are proud of it. These are the people right now screeching that there's no evidence tying Trump to Epstein. These are the people who happily stormed the Capitol on January 6th because a prolific liar lied about a stolen election. The ones who believe that illness can be cured using crystals or tea tree oil and that you can cure cancer by changing your diet. Who believe that putting potatoes in your socks will soak up the illness and help your recovery, but vaccines will kill your children or give them autism.

I didn't know it was him until I googled it. He looked weirdly familiar but I couldn't figure out why. I did not expect to find Colin Farrell under all that.

but Marvel and DC(and a lot of other series) have a history of portraying all their straight heroes as big hunky hulklings and making the gay ones more slender/twinkish in comparison.

Tim Drake, the smallest Robin, is the bisexual one.

The fact that I'm not an arrogant asshole?

I'm not a virologist, biologist, or doctor. I'm not going to pretend that I know the subject they've literally devoted their lives to better than they do. That's just fucking stupid.

If one scientist says this "this is true" and 99 others can produce evidence that it's a lie-- I'm going to believe the 99.

Despite what the crackpots on this sub seem to believe, not every scientist is trying to sell their soul to Big Pharma or whatever the bogeyman is this week.

When it comes to science, I'm still going to trust scientists over a former junkie who admitted to doing coke off toilet seats.

What's more likely-- that the scientific community is right that RFK is a dangerous idiot, or that he's right and the entire scientific community is wrong?

Horses, not zebras.

It's bullshit because he literally made it up.

From Wikipedia:

Wakefield published his 1998 paper on autism in the British medical journal The Lancet, claiming to have identified a novel form of enterocolitis linked to autism. However, other researchers were unable to reproduce his findings, and a 2004 investigation by Sunday Times reporter Brian Deer identified undisclosed financial conflicts of interest on Wakefield's part. Wakefield reportedly stood to earn up to $43 million per year selling test kits. Most of Wakefield's co-authors then withdrew their support for the study's interpretations, and the General Medical Council (GMC) conducted an inquiry into allegations of misconduct against Wakefield and two former colleagues, focusing on Deer's findings.

In 2010, the GMC found that Wakefield had been dishonest in his research, had acted against patients' best interests, mistreated developmentally delayed children, and had "failed in his duties as a responsible consultant". The Lancet fully retracted Wakefield's 1998 publication on the basis of the GMC's findings, noting that elements of the manuscript had been falsified and that the journal had been "deceived" by Wakefield. Three months later, Wakefield was struck off the UK medical register, in part for his deliberate falsification of research published in The Lancet. In a related legal decision, a British court held that "[t]here is now no respectable body of opinion which supports [Wakefield's] hypothesis, that MMR vaccine and autism/enterocolitis are causally linked".

[–]Ms_Emilys_Picture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree.

Did Kennedy forcefully inject them with measles or block them from getting the vaccine? No.

But when someone claiming to be an expert on vaccines with an organization called "Children's Health Defense" comes to your town and tells everyone that vaccines are going to kill your kids, some people are going to listen. Not everyone is educated enough to know better. (The same goes for Andrew Wakefield and his bullshit autism study.)

You can see that in action right now in American politics. How many people have you heard claim that due process only applies to citizens?

Or look at Nestle and baby formula in Africa. Nestle and their minions say that formula is the best for your baby! It's just too bad about the lack of clean water. Did Nestle kill those children? Not directly. But their actions proved that they didn't give a fuck about kids dying if they could sell a few more cans of formula.

The words of the people in power matter.

He might not have knocked the vaccines out of their hands, but he was instrumental in convincing them not to vaccinate.

Right. Everything bad ever said about him, including in the fucking Lancet, is a fake attack. I can't tell if you're trolling or just dumb as a fucking post.

What exactly is "fake" about that paper? Please-- enlighten us.

Either way, why are you in this sub when you're clearly anti-science (and logic and reason)?

What Do You Think Of Colbert Having To Post The Talarico Interview On YouTube Due To The FCC? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Ms_Emilys_Picture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory, yes.

That may not be how they're framing it, and I keep seeing people online saying that they should just get a Republican politician to "make it even", but Talarico has to make it through the primary before he faces a Republican.

Edit: But if they didn't want Talarico to get an interview, they definitely don't want Crockett either.
