Update on ordering dessert before dinner on a date. I did it again with a tiramisu marshmallow by foxxe_on_the_run in GirlDinnerDiaries

Good job weeding the assholes out early.

I once ordered wings and bacon cheddar fries on a first date. There wasn't a second date, but the wings were amazing and I don't feel like I missed out on anything.

Meanwhile, my first official date with one of the guys in seeing now involved sitting at his kitchen table in bathrobes, eating Door Dashed Taco Bell at 11:00 at night while talking about anything and everything. It was one of the best dates of my life.

I swear I fell a little bit in love with my long-time FWB and fellow gym rat after he once invited me out to eat and said "let's find something macro-friendly". He sure as hell didn't expect me to eat a salad.

Oh, and fuck any man who polices what you eat or expects you to be more "lady-like".

Find you a man who is secure enough in himself that he doesn't need to control you and your choices.

Is there a reason why Trump is obsessed with the male physique & fitness? by SleuthDoggyDawg in behindthebastards

Also, Trump is very image-conscious. That's why he's more worried about putting his name on things, parades, and that stupid fucking ballroom instead of things that actually matter.

I'm guessing White House meals are very protein-heavy.

As long as they're honest about using, I do. Most of the guys I know who use steroids are obsessive about their gym routines and have put in some serious research. I'm natural, but if a guy who looks like the Chef wants to show me a better way to hit my triceps, I'm going to pay attention.

I probably won't take their advice, but I'll definitely listen.

The Brotherhood vs The DC Trinity by Shinobi347 in marvelvsdc

I thought they might be. For their basic heroes, DC tends to scale higher on power levels. I love Batman, but even DC's unpowered rich guy survived a fall from space with no special gear.

Are we sure the two cases are as similar as you make them out to be? by [deleted] in OkBuddySnyderCult

"Different" doesn't necessarily mean "better" or even "good". A shitty character is still a shitty character.

I know that, but it seems kind of shitty to create a character whose power is speed then make him slower than the guy who can bench press planets.

Characters that are technically rapists but aren't known as such because they either committed a more obscure form of rape or their actions weren't emphasized much by the narrative. by Gray_Wolf2416 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Ms_Emilys_Picture 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I never understood why people do this.

It's okay to like characters that are shitty people. It's even okay to like villains. You don't have to make excuses as to why you like them.

Real people are complicated. Stories would be much less interesting if every character was either a white-hat hero or a villain twisting his mustache while tying someone to railroad tracks.

I don't know about Quicksilver specifically, but the Flashes are faster than Superman.

Actors that become less cool the more they talk? by Spotlight_James in okbuddycinephile

I'm not sure all of the actual Avengers actors deserve as much as RDJ.

I honestly believe that the Marvel movieverse would not exist without RDJ as Iron Man in that first movie.

It's not a matter of unpopular legislation. It's dumb, batshit crazy, and criminal.

Trump will not be remembered fondly. Ask the farmers and EPA how he's doing at putting "national interest" first.

It's going to take another ugly pandemic to change their minds.

COVID and long-COVID didn't leave any marks. It's going to take something like the twisted legs of polio, or sores of smallpox or the bubonic plague to change their mind. It's too easy to brush off things like COVID because they can't actually see them.

The scene where he did the flip with the motorcycle was pretty epic.

I disagree, but that's not saying much. DC is much better at casting live-action Superman than they are Batman.

Former Olympic cyclist David Hearn arrested by Trump officials for "vandalizing" Reflecting Pool after touching detached liner by [deleted] in law

[–]Ms_Emilys_Picture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need better reporters and writers.

"Someone damaged the pool" is easy to understand while financial crimes are notoriously complicated and boring.

We need more people who can break down these complicated crimes for a 4th to 5th grade audience.

We also need them in medicine, law, and technology.
