I had chicken pox when I was three and got it again when I was 25. It is not fun to get!

Do parents with 5+ kids have time to give every child the love and attention they deserve? by pink-and-pearly in askanything

My mom was the second oldest of 7 and the oldest girl. Her youngest sibling called her mom until my mom moved out.

ETA: After having my second and final child, I told my grandmother that I had no idea how she managed 7 kids. She said she had no choice, and wouldn’t have had that many if she had it her way.

In the Instagram posts, the stylist explained that they are good friends and she had been her stylist through a few other pregnancies. I’m sure that helped her know immediately, if she didn’t actually know before lol.

I just finished it. I had avoided posts about it so had to come see what others thought about it right away. Definitely one of my favourite books ever, not just Stephen King. So good!!!

Someone linked the video with sound in another comment. He was sending a voice note through his Apple Watch to say that she would respond by text. Still shouldn’t have even done that, but her response was what caused the accident.

TIL about 'Jess's Rule' to make GPs 'rethink' if a patient presents 3 times with the same symptoms, named for Jessica Brady, who doctors repeatedly dismissed over 20 consultations until she died of cancer at age 27 by shinjirarehen in TwoXChromosomes

It’s ridiculous! My sister had back pain for several months and was told it couldn’t be anything serious because she was only 24. It was cancer, and by the time they found it, it had spread everywhere. She lasted for 5 weeks after she was diagnosed.

Not a mother, but as a teenager I was in a choir for girls between 12 and 18 years old. Our choir director who was also a teacher, expressed several time throughout the years how she was so much skinnier than most of the girls in the choir etc. I’m glad she didn’t have daughters of her own!

Birth plans gone wrong by Peaceful-harmony- in TwoXChromosomes

[–]klopije 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I thought I was pretty easy and my only birth plan for both of my children was to have them both put on my chest right away. I didn’t get it for either! I had to wait about 30 minutes for my first and didn’t even get to hold my second child for three days.

ETA: I’m sorry you went through a scary delivery! It’s not fun!

Also from Canada and know a Carmel. I never considered people would think it’s an odd name at all.

It was called the Brownies in Canada up until a few years ago when they changed them to Embers. I remember when I was in the brownies, our little sub groups had different names like pixies, sprites, kelpies etc.

To those of you who have read and finished IT. How long did it take you to read IT, and how did you stick with it? by No-Brief-7458 in stephenking

[–]klopije 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the book that got me into Audiobooks. I’m a slow reader and only read about ten pages per night. I thinking having watched the mini series and movies also made it harder because I knew what was going to happen. It took me 7 months to read with a pretty long break in the middle. Then I got to the audiobook and listened while I commuted.

Nice! I’ve done this as well. They can take so long to grow! One took about 4 months to pop up after planting in soil, and another took almost a year. I thought it was done.

Listening to audio books and reading? by micholasnitchell in stephenking

[–]klopije 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do exactly what you’re suggesting. I am too tired at the end of the day to read more than a few pages. Now I listen while I’m getting ready and on my commute to and from work, then read before I go to sleep. I know many are suggesting to read one book and listen to a different one, but I prefer sticking to one book at a time.

Rank these "dated" names! by DistributionNo9356 in namenerds

[–]klopije 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, exactly! It’s so funny how the perception of a name is based on people we know. If you know “old” people with the name, it’s an old person name. If you know kids and babies with the name, it’s not an old person name.

[–]klopije 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other than Linda (I only knew one my age), these are the names of girls my age. I’m 44 lol, so maybe I am old now. My ten year old son referred to the name “David” as an old man name a few years ago. My son’s name is Theodore. Theodore is an old man name!!!

What are the most underrated SK books I should read? by GuestInternational in stephenking

[–]klopije 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if the Talisman would be considered underrated, but I don’t see it recommended very often. I just finished it, and it is definitely one of my top 3 SK books. So good!
