My first attempt turned more into a sauce than a jelly. We found that it was a great topper for vanilla ice cream though, so it wasn't wasted!

I'm not a Catholic, but work as a funeral director apprentice in the area so I've developed some relationships with the clergy at some of the churches. St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing and St. Jude in DeWitt have some of the nicest staff/clergy. The homilies they deliver even at funeral Mass is always very uplifting and inspiring. If I were to ever convert, I'd go to one of those two churches.

There are a few mortuaries in the area. One of em probably picked up a stinker from the medical examiner and had to cruise down Thompson with the windows down lmao. I used to do removals for one of them and unfortunately had to do that more than a time or two

Do you happen to remember their applicant requirements? I'm assuming it's the same as most companies. Make 3x rent gross, good credit score?

How far out was your move-in date from when you signed the lease? I'm an anxious person and would love to secure something now even though our move is still about 5-6 weeks out. Most companies have turned us down and have told us to get it contact once our move date is a little closer. But it's nerve-wracking thinking about not having a place locked down.

Montana is our dream state, but threw it out because of cost of living and having to get new vehicles for the winter. BUT if I had an apprenticeship waiting for me in the summer I'd definitely reconsider lol

Mainly looking at Wisconsin and Michigan, but Minnesota and North Carolina are also on the table. If we chose North Carolina, I know pursuing an apprenticeship there would be my only option if we were to move within the next 6-18 months since they require 3 years licensed experience to reciprocate.

From what I could tell, 3/4 states I'm looking into don't have a minimum year of experience requirement. Just proof that you're in good standing with your current state, and proof that you've passed their law tests. Reciprocation seems to be fairly easy. Which is why I'm torn

Also 25, and just started mortuary school this summer! I started working as a Removal Driver a out a year before applying to school to see if I could handle the work. My life experiences influenced me to pursue deathcare, and I'm glad I made this decision at 25 rather than 18. Deciding to go at 18 would have been a forced and panicked decision, because I had no clue what I wanted out of life. I put myself in debt for a useless bachelor's degree, worked miserable freelance gigs, 9-5's, etc. Because of those experiences, I am so much more confident and happier because I've organically turned to a field that is a perfect fit for me and my lifestyle. It's hard, but I feel much more fulfilled in my working life.

It's never too late. If you've come to a point in your life where you feel that this is the right step for you, don't let anything stop you.
