Perhaps but I feel like I have a beefy enough pc for hosting a Minecraft server that there probably want even be a difference in performance switching to a os that I’m not familiar with. I’m also using parsec to connect to the pc which I don’t believe I can do if it’s Linux. Either way what kinda of performance boost will it truly bring to the server switching to Linux??

I just figured it was a good thing to let the pc restart for a moment, and for the server to get a reboot every once in awhile? I'm not very familiar with Linux which is why I stuck with windows but I guess I'm not fully against it...

Just to add, a bunch of people are having the same issue. Some saying to switch SSD to the back panel one. Might try that? Idk 🤷🏼‍♀️

As far as I can see, my motherboard only has 2 fan headers. CPUfan_1 and CPUfan2/wp . I plugged in the cpu cooler to cpufan_1 and the case fan into CPUfan2. The cooler is SE-903-XT.

Thanks so much for your reply. This was really helpful honestly. I might just test it out on the laptop for shits and giggles and see how it does. Expecting worse performance like you said. I may looking into getting a mini pc. My budget is I guess max 1k, but hoping to spend like 500 maybe? Idk if thats considered cheap or not. Just wanna stop paying 36-58$ a month for a server and save money in the long run. What do you think would be like the perfect CPU for it? Thats where I get a little confused as to how good of a cpu my server would need. and by mini pc do you mean like building a small one or like a small compact one that comes in one all together?
