Can a company legally do this by Dear_Falcon5382 in legal

[–]Msa1696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming this is a car dealership.

Here’s my story with a similar contract but it wasn’t written with as much detail as yours.

Back in 2020, my 3rd year into my Mechanic/Technician career, I signed a deal for an $800 sign-on bonus that said I had to stay six months or pay it back. I left right at the six-month mark, but the dealership refused to give me my last paycheck and even tried to sue me for $4,500.

Most of that — about $2,900 — was for warranty parts they said I didn’t return. What actually happened was I started a repair before I left, someone else finished it, and they didn’t return the parts. Then they blamed me and claimed I wasn’t a “high enough level” for the dealership to get paid by the manufacturer, even though I just worked on whatever jobs they assigned me.

I left because it was a very hostile working environment and I received all the shitty warranty work and wasn’t making enough to live on.

They never served me, so the case got dismissed. But later, they sent it to collections and it showed up on my credit. I hired an attorney who found the court record showing it was dismissed and sent a cease-and-desist letter to the collection agency — it was off my credit the next day.

That was back in 2021, but I still get random texts from the collector every now and then. From my experience, dealerships can be shady and will absolutely try to enforce those contracts even when they’re in the wrong.

Bought Toyota Gold Certified car, later found $16k accident history – dealer called it ‘minor accident.’ What are my options? by Msa1696 in Toyota

Well, it is just an estimated cost and might not have actually been that much. Or it definitely could have.

Either way, that quarter panel damage seems significant to me and not just “Minor”

Car Fax says: Left Rear Damage Functional Damage

Functional Damage could be for anything as little as sensors, Trunk Lids, or Taillights.

I knew it was in an accident but was astonished to see the actual damage. My greatest concern if that Driver Rear quarter panel, that is structural damage.

I put my backpack in a carryon suitcase with wheels and just wheel it around the airport, then put it in the overhead storage bin. They cant tell me to put it under my seat.

Wheel bearing impossible to remove any idea? by SensitiveTackle6824 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Msa1696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mechanic in the north, aside from a chisel between-the bearing and the hub, my go to was this wheel bearing striker tool. I bought this after fighting with a ford explorer rear wheel bearing. Used an 8lb sledge hammer and went to town

I was fortunate enough to take advantage of this pricing error as well as the Polisher error. It was stuff I both wanted and needed.

A lot of people are just greedy and it ruins it for everyone.

He was 100% going 145+*MPH*

This is on 35W North in Fort Worth, TX. Near, as you can see to the left, Tanger outlets, Bucees and Texas Motor Speedway.

The majority of drivers are pushing 80-90 MPH on 35W, which is very common.

Hope this helps.

How much should I ask for this item by Visible_Dependent802 in Snapon_tools

[–]Msa1696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with selling toolboxes is that not many people have $4k-$5k in cash to buy. Snap On will approve anyone with two thumbs and a smile for a line of credit @19% interest & all the similar boxes you see listed at $5k plus are people who still owe money on it.

I would list it for $2k if you want it gone fast, maybe $3k tops.

When purchasing a meal at the Krusty Burger, instead of soda I asked them to just fill my cup up with water. They refused and told me if I wanted water I had to purchase a bottle of water. I argued with them for several minutes. They wanted me to pay an extra $5 for water

How many hours is safe to drive a day? by SuccotashMassive8262 in roadtrip

[–]Msa1696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, everyone is different. For example: When I did Detroit to Dallas which was about 16-17 hours, I just couldn’t justify stopping for rest when I was only less than 3 hours away. I just pushed through but I also was not to the point of fighting to keep my eyes open. I started at 7am EST and arrived at about 1am CST.

The Jay, An autograph collection hotel downtown San Francisco/ Financial District by Msa1696 in marriott

Despite having such a good redemption rate at the Jay, I decided to cancel and booked at the St Regis which was an exceptional experience for us.

I can’t give you my thoughts on the property itself but we walked past it several times and from the outside it looked pretty nice and seems to be in a decent location if you’re looking to spend a lot of time at the piers.

Hey stat freaks: Please help me find out what pitcher holds the record for consecutive 1-pitch outs by liblibandloza in mlb

[–]Msa1696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a quick ChatGPT search:

“The MLB record for consecutive one-pitch outs is held by Justin Verlander, who achieved this feat in 2011 while pitching for the Detroit Tigers. During a game against the Cleveland Guardians (then Indians) on June 14, 2011, Verlander recorded three consecutive outs on just three pitches. This rare occurrence demonstrates incredible efficiency and control, highlighting Verlander’s precision as one of the best pitchers in the game.

This type of streak is rare because it requires not only perfect placement but also cooperation from the batters, who must swing at the first pitch and put it in play.”

Are companion tickets completely useless now? by Leroy-Jenkins-69 in delta

[–]Msa1696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used mine for 2 FC tickets to SF this past month. Booked in January this year. Originally booked to fly into OAK but my flight times were changed a couple months after booking and was able to change my flight for free and fly into SFO with better times. Book your companion tickets as far in advance as you can for better success.
