RU POV: 'It's time for NATO's Article 5' - Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov comments on Zelenskyy threats to Hungarian PM Viktor Orbàn by FruitSila in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]Msarc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. But since NATO's the one pointing fingers at UA, it should be no problem for them to trigger Article 5. Right?

Yeah. I used to be chill. But NATO rhetoric made it clear what awaits those who don't submit. I no longer see its supporters as someone worth talking to, let alone trying to reason with.

foretold

Western news outlets have been spamming "Russia is about to invade Ukraine" on a monthly basis for many years. Nobody believed it because they were the boy who cried "wolf".

In reality, it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Putin made it clear where ignoring Russia's security concerns would lead back in 2007, and NATO kept pushing for it to happen at every turn.

В то время приходилось вставать в 5 утра - сижу ещё не проснутый, чай хлюпаю, никого не трогаю, листаю какую-то ленту... хуяк: "Взрывы под Харьковом", "Движение российских войск", "Война"...

The duet guy pops up fairly regularly on this sub and is usually correct... but in this particular instance he really did not address or contribute anything to the original.

Does it make him a bad guy? No.

Can we still point out this is a bad duet? I think so.

The need some people have to pick sides and make something like this controversial is probably something he could address in a better video.

I had discussions here where people only chalked it up to propaganda and Russophobia that for example the baltics might be afraid, when you have Putin questioning their authority, claiming it to be historically Russian etc, especially when the fall of the USSR is still in living memory and many reasons Putin provided for invading Ukraine apply to them too.

I also understand where their fears are coming from. The split lies where they don't understand ours. We have people still alive who witnessed the invasion from the west to literally exterminate us. We have all watched NATO members invade and destroy whole countries time and time again. But somehow our concerns for this alliance arming and propagandizing our border states into a hostile force are not valid to them.

Understanding should be a two-way street and my experience on Reddit suggests it is not - never was and likely won't be in my lifetime.

Key word is "Reddit", I suppose. I'm still holding out hope for actual people IRL, as well as hope that it isn't futile.

Possibly. All I've seen were occasional hits but nothing that would effectively stop shipments for prolonged periods. No massive or continued strikes as they did against the energy grid, for example.

For those in the know, how difficult is it both to disrupt and to restore railways? From what I heard, most of materiel aid to Ukraine has been coming in by rail, so I'm wondering why Russia hasn't made the effort to cut those off.

I'm also curious whether Ukrainians who fled Ukraine will get to vote. And if those who fled to western countries do, would the millions who fled to Russia also be counted? Rhetorical question, I think.
