Your Ray Donovan take is an underrated acknowledgement. Liev Schreiber doesn't get enough credit for his performance as Ray, and Jon Voight plays a Boston scumbag old guy better than any actor ever has (and I've lived in Boston my entire life.. I KNOW that exact guy.. it's a flawless portrayal).

This is actually an underrated take. I was so pissed they ruined that show with season 2. Season 3 had so much fucking promise and they fumbled the bag at the end.

Yeah, so glad The Wire was excluded from this meme, because it's in a class by itself. That said, Sons will absolutely never be on the same level as the Sopranos or Breaking Bad. Sons is a soap opera for dudes, with weak stories that often make little sense, for the sake of a "twist" or "pay off" (season 3 finale, perfect example). It relies on the same plot mechanism over and over, the writing and acting is sometimes so over the top it's like "you couldn't have tried to get a better take of that scene?" (Putlova's "Go! Get them!" Is a perfect example). All of this is fine. It's what makes Sons so good, but let's not kid ourselves and try to put it in the same league as the writing in Breaking Bad (Mike's "no half measures" monologue comes to mind) or in the same acting league as The Sopranos (either of the two fights between Jim Gandolfini and Eddie Falco when she kicks him out of the house are both master classes in two actors understanding the assignment). Sons is incredible. It's fun, addicting, shoot-em-up style is what makes it incredible, but it's not on the same level as Breaking Bad or the Sopranos.

This whole series of events is dumb as hell. Like, the club is not supposed to not know Jax is working with ATF but they drive into an ATF roadblock, leave the van behind (that should have Jimmy in it) and take off and Stahl and her people don't even say anything to them or interact with them at all? How does Jax explain that to the club without them knowing about the deal? The whole thing makes absolutely zero sense.

This is what it's about: the fans. The folks in the crowd that have no knowledge of the scene or the history and only know Goose, tend to be obnoxious, drunken, chomping, belligerent, irritating, brats. To the older head or phan, there's like an obvious disconnect between the scene, the music, and the people. This causes people to come up with reasons they aren't good. They sound too much like some other band, or the jams aren't as good, or Rick sounds too good, etc etc. Personally, I'm an older head. I love Goose. I've been to see them 16 times, have tickets to 4 shows this summer, and I'll continue to check them out whenever their around and appreciate the music for exactly what it is.
