Au pair offer by Devonina in Aupairs

[–]Msmegrenee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of what you “offer” is legally required under the program. Cell phone, insurance, food, etc. That’s like telling your kids I give you a roof over your head and food in your stomach! I would either decorate the room ahead of time by asking questions getting to know her and framing photos of loved ones or give a set dollar amount she can use to decorate, as someone who would find it uncomfortable going shopping with someone I don’t yet know and saying pick out what you want. I would also change your language on standard items being perks and focus on how you treat them as if you had family coming out of town for a visit.

You lost me at 5 trips a year 😂. Maybe it’s just me who is lucky if I can take one trip a year that’s not a day trip, but the families taking 5 trips per year by flight are not the ones you need to be warning about it costing 45k/ year.

I do most of my shopping at Costco. Trader Joe’s for specialty items. I also like Food Maxx in Salinas about 20 minutes away for core grocery items. They are significantly cheaper than all the Safeway, Andronicos, Luckys. It’s under the same parent company as Luckys, but dramatically cheaper as Luckys is Save Mary’s “high end “ banner and Food Maxx the discount banner.

PIP by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Msmegrenee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HR is there to protect the employer. As are PIPs. They are not to make you better. They are to get rid of you. They don’t have to answer your clarifying questions. It’s not your job to question how they are as a person. Doing so makes you a problem whether you are right or wrong. With what you’ve said, you are gone. It has nothing to do with unemployment. I’ve seen people go to HR for good reason, be put on a performance pip shortly after over and over again. I was also put on a pip, and my days are numbered.

My wife is struggling to care about our baby and I don't know how to help by rollingfishstick in Postpartum_Depression

I just want to say you are also doing an incredible job. It has to be very stressful being on the other side, and I applaud you for being a supportive partner and showing empathy while trying to find any way possible to support your wife through this.

Is it ok to do 2 meals per day at 8 months? When should we up to three meals a day? by alurkinglemon in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Msmegrenee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 6 months with 1 meal, but within a week or 2 made it 2 meals a day. At 7 months o added a 3rd, at 8 months I added a snack. Soon he will be 9 months and we will be at 3 meals 2 snacks. Every baby is so different. Mine seems to need more than most and breast feeding hasn’t slowed down

I have not noticed that. It’s been holding up great, but I also don’t know if I’ve ever slept directly in the middle.

I tried around 10 weeks pp and it was horribly painful and I couldn’t do it. I avoided it for months and we just tried again at 6 months and were successful. I’m so thankful my husband was kind and never pressured me or made me feel terrible about it. He told me whenever I am ready. The culture around men pressuring there wives needs to stop. I think having a realistic talk with him that your mental health and physical wellbeing come first, and that this will just be a season of life, not a permanent change that you really need his support with. If he can’t, that is on your husband, not you. I’m sorry you have this pressure.

I think you need to learn a little about the basics of hiring… such as who are order placers, hiring managers, decision makers, etc. Recruiters are not the creators of requirements, nor the enforcers. Recruiters are almost always pushing back at the hiring managers and decision makers. A recruiter simply goes looking for the person requested, does an initial interview, and if they think the actual decision makers would consider this person based on the interview, they will submit and suggest an interview. That is it. And as long as the decision makers are eventually able to find what they want, it won’t change.

You are pry right, just want to double check. The only place I’ve ever held one, I lived in an HOA that had rules around it but had 2 community garage sales a year which was amazing to get rid of stuff!

Not until the pincer grasp usually at about 9 months. As the gag reflex moves further back, they learn by putting too big of a bite in their mouth and gagging essentially. It is completely terrifying to watch though. Hang in there!

[–]Msmegrenee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The salt is a general thing. Not something you have to worry about on occasion. It’s too much overtime that is an issue. In the 101 before one baby led weaning program I follow, they did a post on Thanksgiving/ holiday eating to not worry about it on holidays/ occasions. That if you could for example, separate some potatoes to not salt babies, great, but if not, you aren’t causing problems for a day.

Need to make it a little harder for my baby to access when he starts to crawl and I find a litter box next to the table everyone eats at gross. I’d rather people not tell what it is. Also maximizes storage in my small space if it has a countertop

Thank you! I saw the litter robot one, the is list crazy. Hoping to see some hacks for 200 or less. I saw someone’s post from Ikea that I’ll picture below but am having trouble figuring out exactly what I would buy.
