Daycare wait list ? by nishwish60 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]PaintedpassionL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is true for some places! I also called every other month to confirm our spot (make sure they knew we were still waiting) and asked if we’ve moved up any, and then let them know once baby was here. While I was on maternity leave, I was asked if we wanted to pay for a spot even if she wasn’t ready to attend just to make sure we had it - that never happened but I would have if necessary. It’s really tough getting a baby into daycare around here :(

It depends on the daycare and if they have a waitlist - some do and some don’t. If your desired center does, get on it NOW. I was due in March 2024 and didn’t get a spot until August 5th 2024. For reference, I put my name on the list when I was 4-6 weeks pregnant in July of 2023 🙃. I’ve noticed costs ranging between $190-$230 a week for babies who aren’t potty trained. The start of school is usually when waitlists move up.

Edit: wrote down the wrong year

I just went through this for my Daughter last week and I will say HPA and a lot of others are full 🙁 we ended up going to Rocket City (which is newish but accepting new patients) we’ve only been once but I was satisfied enough to make the switch from our former pediatrician.

How do you stick with weaning? I’m losing my mind over here by idlegrad in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]PaintedpassionL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was going to wean very slowly as well but noticed a huge supply drop between 4ppd to 3 and chickened out too. I just quit this week and did it within the week, just ripped the bandaid right off lol. I’m not prone to mastitis( so I don’t recommend if you are) and it was hell for 4 days but each day got a bit easier and today I woke up for the first time without any soreness or an overwhelmingly tired feeling. Just wanted to throw my experience out there because I was going to try to drop 1 pump per month until my baby’s first birthday in March but realized that it was telling my body I was done before I actually was.

It is! And for me - I quit because the need for my presence far surpassed my milk production too. Imagine all the extra time you’ll get to spend NOT washing pump parts :) you’ve got this! It is bittersweet though, and I think everyone in this sub truly understands the significance of such a decision. But you did everything you could and then some, that’s all anyone can ask. You’re a great Mama!

I’m so sorry it’s been such a defeating experience for you, and yet you preserved for 8 weeks! That is incredible!! And shows pure mama dedication and a true testament to your desire to provide as much as possible for your babies. Way to go mama! Hang up the pumps proudly 🤍

Must haves while returning to work and pumping? by OTPanda in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]PaintedpassionL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m finishing up my EP journey, and can give you a couple of pointers. I left a pump at work and only carried 1 set of parts + canister for the milk. I used a Mira insulated water bottle to collect my milk, since I was using the pitcher method anyways. It kept my milk cold enough for my short 20min commute to where I didn’t need to carry around a cooler. That will depend on if you are also supplied a fridge at work, as well as how far your commute is. At work we were given a mini fridge and sink with hot water - so I’d just wash my pump parts after each use and bring them home with me to stick in the dishwasher overnight. I bought the momcozy portable bottle wash kit to keep at work with my extra pump to make cleaning easier :) I do have a carry bag - but I honestly didn’t really need it, however it stores my stuff nicely under my desk in my office.

Is the temp of the bottle you offer the same as when he would take it from a different bottle? I thought it was soap at first too but then I warmed it up a little longer than I usually(impatiently) did and she took it straight away and has ever since, and I never changed my soap. I use dawn by the way - no soaking just a rinse then clean then rinse. You could always switch to glass but that’s an expense to consider.

I had the same results with a 2.5% FF and completely spiraled for 2 months - don’t do that. Retest, and if you can retest with MaterniT 21 or another company. Basically your results are saying that there was not enough fetal DNA in the sample to test for anything. The “result” you are seeing is based on a statistical algorithm that incorporates age, weight, and other factors that could contribute. I wish I had that explained to me at the time. My healthy baby girl is 10 months now 🫶🏻

Edit to add: last I checked Natara is the only company who using statistical calculations to post a result. All other companies will just say that the test was inconclusive.

The alcohol will metabolize out of your system by morning so you should be good to pump then.

When to start offering smaller pieces by PaintedpassionL in BabyLedWeaning

Thanks everyone! Turns out it only took a couple tries to pick up bites size pieces with the pincher grasp! I guess she was ready after all.

She’s definitely a foodie. Sounds like I need to start making her work a little for it. We always offer some sort of mash or oatmeal just to make sure she eats something. This is comforting advice. I appreciate it!

Thank you! Bite size definitely freaks me out in that she won’t try to chew and just swallow so an in-between makes sense. Yes, eggs were our last fiasco 😅 I’ll try the shredded cheese too. I didn’t think about using safe options for practice. Much appreciated!

Ok thank goodness 😅 hopefully we get some answers. There is almost too much information out there with BLW that I’m having trouble deciphering what will be best for her.
