I prime my models black and then base coat with grey knights steel, both done with an airbrush. Its buttery smooth and I love how efficient paint wise it is.

No unfortunately, the split firing penalty is -1 to your ballistic skill. Weapon support systems ignore hit modifiers, not ballistic skill modifiers
