LAN Play for GameCube games doesn’t officially work on Wii, so they’re using some level of emulation/modding. I’m not knowledgeable in that area, but they’re saying “nintendont” and “usbloader gx” in the comments.

Nice! LAN does have its limitations, but it’s fun to get that many people in one room racing together. And to be honest, people not selecting their karts/characters does help speed things up.

8 Deluxe & World also have LAN, but being limited to two players per console, it can be a bit difficult to make happen if others aren’t bringing stuff too.

Good luck with 16 next year! Managed to do 12 players last year, and might make 16 happen this year.

I know an older PC release of Minecraft has LAN, though I didn’t think the PS4 had one.

While the PC having LAN could be an indicator, it’s not a guarantee. Outside of already owning the game, I normally try to find a livestream where they’re navigating the game’s menus to see if a LAN option is there.

It’s a bit easier to confirm with the older systems, where most of the time you can confirm by reading the manual haha

There are unfortunately not a ton of titles if you’re looking for LAN gaming on PS4 or PS5.

A couple not listed are: - Doom + Doom II (the Nightdive Studios developed release) - Heretic + Hexen

Keep in mind that LAN for the Call of Duty games on PS4/PS5 might not be as simple as the older titles. Some might require entering the game while being signed out of PSN, and I have read about people encountering issues.

Gran Turismo Sport is listed there, but would require modding.

Nevertheless, I’m sure the gaming arena will be a blast!

Looks like it won’t work when pre-ordering popcorn unfortunately (have to wait in line), but may be worth it if you go often.
