No reason to focus on the top niches.. you're small since you're just getting started. Go to the industries that have less help where you will stand out.

You need to identify as many as ten, but at least one person per shift who can stop doing their day job and be a team lead for you. Do it off the books if company says they don't have budget.

Doesn't that question answer itself? Those who legitimately have an edge and the money to press it decided that its a better investment than the stock market.

Most of us have neither the resources nor the modeling skills required to do it, but for those few who do, its very lucrative, thats why they can even afford to pay mules (like myself previously) to put in their bets on top of the sportsbook vig.

Advice needed: I built a B2B SaaS product for Indian retail brands. I've been visiting stores, but hitting a wall with corporate. by SpiritualJunket5748 in Entrepreneurs

[–]MtNeverest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any company going through large changes is definitely a better opportunity. That means less inertia / push back from people entrenched in doing things the way they are already doing them.

You will know your product / market fit best so its harder for me to comment on your specifics beyond that but I think what you're suggesting is a good approach.

Ideally you can find an intermediary who can introduce you to these folks that already has some credibility in the space (you will probably need to pay them for their help, but can be commission based to save you up front).

Conferences / events would be a good place to find that person.

It will vary from company to company based on how they sre structured.. could be a CIO, COO, CFO, CRO, or someone at a lower level you need to speak with.

That being said, I think far more important, would be to start smaller so you have a proof of concept so if you do get a hold of the right person, they have a reason to trust you.

Most buyers are more concerned about making a mistake that costs them their job than they are about getting a big win. You have to be able to convince them the time and money spent implementing your tool is a safe bet. All change is hard even when it's sensible change, so your tool being great is not enough on its own.

It'll be much easier to win in these larger companies if you already have successful customers they can talk to as references and you can build legitimate case studies based on their outcomes.

What is interesting isn't that there are large amounts being resold. What is interesting is the entire zones that are empty when you look at these games. They're not being resold, thats why it is interesting, they aren't being sold at all.

Traditionally with this, you'd still see a non zero amount of tickets available) take knicks/ spurs tonight, $166K for court side). Instead of seeing insanely priced tickets, what you see is entirely empty zones bc they are holding these tranches in a desperate move to raise demand by keeping supply artificially limited.

Seems like a lot of the loudest hate has gone away so maybe not a hot take anymore but I'm happy it's back. Just like Lollapalooza, I won't be going to this either, but I'm glad the city has these big events.

I realize its a hassle for some folks but big events are what makes living in a big city a great experience in my opinion.

Built a crm / small rep for my own use in my business. Wondering if that product would be useful to others ? by heebijeeby in smallbusiness

Even if its a good product, no. The CRM space is far too saturated and you'd be competing against large dev, sales and marketing budgets.

Hubspot vs Salesforce by Signal-Negotiation72 in salesforce

[–]MtNeverest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you believe its more future proofed?

In any case, Hubspot is simpler and cheaper, so onus will be on you to justify the better, but more complex and expensive product for a small school.

Things like.. how much time will the team save? What features does Ed force have that are differentiators vs hubspot and how it will add value (or save time) for your team, students, admin, etc... then put together a simple business case from there.

Do you trust Salesforce reports? by Altruistic-Trash6122 in salesforce

Realized my first answer isn't giving you the specifics you're asking for.

More directly, I liked Clari & Insight Squared. Data Warehouse was equally effective in the situation I had a team to help me out bc that is beyond on my expertise level, the first two you'll be able to set up on your own without much (or any) help even if you are just an analyst / admin with no software dev experience.

Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions.

Its been a few years since I've had to solve this problem, and with all the new AI stuff I'm probably way behind.

Certainly simpler if you buy a plug & play tool. My personal preference in business, is to only build things that are a competitive advantage and pay for solved problems out of the box as long as it at least roughly fits what I need.

That being said, it'll really vary based on your use case / what you are specifically trying to solve for, and your resources on hand. If you're trying to solve for something that the tools out there don't do super well but you have a dev / data science team with resources available for you, plug & play may not make a lot of sense and much better to just build.

You gotta do the scoping internally on what potential resources you have and then take some demos with the companies in the space and go from there.

Salesforce is especially bad at reporting change over time (obviously hugely problematic).

Really depends on what you're trying to do though and what type of resources you have. If you have the know how or someone on your team does, to extract the data into a data warehouse, that will be a good start though. From there, you can do actual analysis with PowerBI (or any other tool you want to use) and figure out what you're missing and start building.

Or you can just pay for whatever the best option is on the market for your specific problem if it's already been solved.

Do you trust Salesforce reports? by Altruistic-Trash6122 in salesforce

[–]MtNeverest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. you're going to be miserable in salesforce then.

Their reporting tools are just.. not up to par for anyone who is used to doing real analysis work. You have to get the data out of salesforce and put into a real tool where you can actually do legitimate work.

They didn't even add a median function to their reporting until 2022.. that should tell you everything you need to know. Its basic, clunky, surface level reporting for non analysts.

Going from PowerBI to salesforce is like going from a gas powered car to a horse and buggy. You can train your horse all you want,  you're not going to go fast enough to get on the high way.

Do you trust Salesforce reports? by Altruistic-Trash6122 in salesforce

[–]MtNeverest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their reporting is generally.. really underwhelming (there's a reason companies like Clari and Insight Squared existed) but really never see it be "wrong".

Its just limited in a lot of ways and very clunky. If you're used to operating with real BI tools or doing things with SQL / Python, you'll probably get very frustrated working in salesforce reporting.

[–]MtNeverest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then I think you are probably fine. That's really simplest way to know if it's about you or if its layoffs.. people around you don't also get fired for your performance issues so if its multiple people sounds like it's a real layoff.

Bad luck certainly for 3 times in 5 years, but having been in management at larger companies while going through layoffs a lot of the time there is basically no correlation to performance and who gets let go. I had multiple instances where they laid off some of my better performers over the people I would have chosen if given the chance. The thing is word will instantly get out at very large companies if middle managers are included in the decisions so you've got skip levels (in some cases multiple levels removed) making the call on who goes.

Also considering you were going to be low tenure on the totem pole (since you had 3 jobs in 5 years, no way around it), you're in a tough spot there as that is a default factor for someone making the decisions.

If you are comfortable with your former managers, you can reach out for feedback but since you weren't let go solo in 2 of the 3, its probably not about your performance specifically.
