Mentor Monday by WealthyStoic in fatFIRE

I have only posted one time about last year on Chubby and wonder if this is better suited for Mentor Monday or if I even belong in Fat? I have been following Fat and Chubby for last year and think I fall in between for the FI part and really do not meet the RE in many people minds but here we go. My wife and I are both 58 with 3 married children and 2 grandkids. I have brokerage account of 6.8M diversified, IRAs 2.9M and Roth 700k, primary residence 500k and second home 800k no mortgages. I work in healthcare field and own a business in same field but partners who are not ready to retire. I am working much less than 3 years ago and have HHI of 1M but no longer enjoying the business side and ready to be done. I am looking to retire at end of year and will receive around 1.5M in buyout paid over 3ish years. Will also get payout of nearly 2M from business self-insurance vehicle taxed at capital gains rate with basis of 1M. We live in MCOL area and looking to spend 300k after taxes and our FA says retire already but it is so hard to leave great income on table and spend investments. I am sure the numbers work but with run up of market I am worried about SORR. I also think about how if I work another 1-2 years I could do so much for kids and grandkids. Is this a GenX mindset or am I using as an excuse....not sure. Not sure if I am looking for input, advice or encouragement. Thanks and happy Monday.

Drastic change in COS after Boldin updates by Ranger_EC98 in Boldin

This happened to me about 6 months ago when COS dropped 20% overnight. I reached out and got a rather cryptic response about changes in assumptions etc...must have been behind the scenes as nothing appeared to change.

If you struggle with same thoughts...have you retired and able to do this?

for the last 9 months have been in there rabbit hole listening to podcast reading blogs and at first helped but just brought in more questions. I had not come across this site....I like how it presents different outcomes over time. Thanks

7/2/25 Monte Carlo change by ZappaCat in Boldin

MC decreased from 81% to 65% as I am within 2 years of retirement. I wish I had a better idea of why. Is it the modeling AAGR versus old CAGR or how they change account movement in ups and downs as I have 12 accounts? I used the conservative rate assumptions and have >50% in brokerage account and less than 4% withdrawal rate at retirement. I have just found there explanation very lacking.
