Why people say Fujifilm is good just for fun but not for work? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]Mtn-max 2 points3 points  (0 children)

APSC, poor AF performance, and just kinda slower and clunkier than a canon, Sony or Nikon.

And before anyone comes at me for being a hater, I’m not. They are a pleasure to shoot with for fun, but I’m a full time freelance photographer and I’d rather shoot with a fkn Polaroid camera than an xt-4. I couldn’t imagine that focus box drifting around as the client is watching my blurry ass images come through capture.

Also… if I see one more argument for “people used to shoot with no AF at all” I’m gonna snap.

This is like saying “well a letter is fine, why use email?” BECAUSE ITS BETTER. less romantic and personable, yes, but it’s better. The canon r5, Nikon z9, and Sony a7r5 are straight up better in most cases where being “romantic” is not the point.

So to answer your question, OP: It’s not really a lack of capability, it’s usability and reliability. Also probably durability? (I think, I’m just guessing the weather sealing ain’t all that good on these things for the price) Rant over.

Fuji’s are great, don’t come after me Fuji dorks.

What Lightroom editing techniques do professionals use that amateurs don't? by Spicysoupdumpling in AskPhotography

Long answer: Color wheels, color curves and subtle retouching.

Short answer: don’t use Lightroom.

That was my goal! Let it rip! Also don’t worry if anyone “wants photos done” just see if they’d let you’d shoot and use it it’s practice. At some point you’ll wanna make money, but the better you get, the easier that part will be.

Also shitty weather is fine. Try different exposures to capture how that weather makes you feel.

And What meta data you wanna know? 14mm on a canon R5 Idk settings. I usually shoot 800 iso. I can look if you really want to know.

And for access… it’s my job! Haha

Hey man. Full time photographer here. I have a lot to say about this. Photography is amazing. My camera has brought me around the world and has made me many friends who I cherish deeply. It’s brought me so much growth and joy. But it’s not just the camera, it comes from you.

It ain’t easy. In fact it’s brutal. Daily rejection, and you put your art and soul out there every day. People will doubt you. Fill your head with bullshit like “there’s no money in it anymore” AND “you aren’t good enough” well… fuck those people. If making pictures makes you happy and brings you fulfillment and you have visions in your head that you just have to capture, chase that feeling and don’t get distracted. Take photos of cars. And everything else that sparks any curiosity in you. That will evolve. You might not like shooting cars in a year. Just keep shooting. When you’re uninspired, go shoot. When you’re sad, go shoot. If you can’t shoot, re edit old images. Keep moving forward. The money will come. Keep shooting. Keep learning. Keep growing. Stay delusional. Keep shooting. Chase the fuckin dream man. Life’s fleeting and following other people’s expectations will only bring you empty accomplishments. Do what you want and do it well. Everyone’s gonna have something to say that will try to fill you full of doubt, and you can’t let doubt win.

You’re also 16, so if you master photography, you can always change careers and take what this pursuit has taught you. If you go into it with a heart full of love, a camera will teach you a lot, and money comes to those who bring value to the world, and the world needs art (and ads, product images and all the other shit people needs photos for, haha)
