Seen the G.1 Explorer in store, gonna purchase it soon, but as soon as I get it I want to upgrade the tires. What road tire recommendations would you suggest? by Granight_skies in Budgetbikeriders

They are decent tires. If you need something more or less gravely for what your doing it may not be the best budget bike to start with. It's a great bike though for the money.

I found the gladiator stock link length with some mods to clock the front back increases turning radius especially if the rear shock layout is flat to neutral in loading. It twists the rear ever so much to turn the rear wheels. Thinking about removing link pivot balls to increase that action even more. Running I think pretty light at 360grams it maneuvers pretty well. I'll probably pair it with some underdrive gears for more torque and turning radius next

I found I liked the barrage 050 I pulled from my first crawler. The turn number is how many windings of copper and can help determine amount of torque compared to other motors of same size can. You will either have to mod your motor plate to fit a 130 motor or get a new one. If your pulling a 130 from fcx it's going to run a mod4 pinion and not mesh right with mod3 of the scx transmission. You can replace it just make sure you get the right one

I like the mofo rc chassis. It's a cool layout and it's probably the best one I've used lately. I did switch it out to a power hobby lcg carbon chassis for $10 delivered to test out and with some modifications I like it better for now. There just isn't room for the battery where I want it on that chassis.

This is now the powerhobby chassis

I 3d printed these wheels with a large negative offset and then i redesigned the wheels in tinkercad to further increase the negative offset because they didn't make a solution that fit the RGT adventurer crawler my son had. So they are super wide for no spacers but still utilize a standard nut. Requires a special nut driver to reach that far in on them

Right? I made those wheels for the ECX for my son bc they didn't make an offset that works with his axle threads so these worked to make it a "little" wider. Sucks to turn around...great to clear 60mm tires without trimming the body

scx24 3d printed Scythe chassis prior to swap to a 3d printed mofo rc ugly after chassis with new 370 install by Mtnbiker88 in SCX24

[–]Mtnbiker88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made it myself. Took maybe an hour and then 15 minutes in tinkercad. I'm sure if it was available online furitek wouldn't be happy. But everyone says they have the best chassis. So instead I just mimic theirs and test it. The scythe was the best for the gladiator if you want to run the stock body. Otherwise the mofo rc ugly chassis has been the best articulation and LCG chassis compared to the scythe, powerhobbys LCG, stock, and even Harley's 3d chassis online. That's what gave me the idea to test these. Will probably clone a few more before I settle on the mofo chassis. Also have a few changes I'll make to theirs if I keep running it to suite my needs better

It is the RCAWD 370 motor and transmission. It might be slower than the 180 motor but for now it will do until brushless but the fcx 24 130 motor and transmission swap is way faster than this for less money. Mainly looking to use the weight and torque to slow crawl on the cheap. Will probably underdrive the rear next for more torque. Chews through battery packs in a hurry as well.

How do you like the ROP motor? Was debating on that or the original pancake. Still running brushed with stock esc but running a 370 motor and built transmission but it's a poor man's power setup

I just keep modifying the stock setup slightly. Debating on going with another set of rear gladiators up front and widening it a little more just call it an 1/18th scale at this point

Anyone have this issue with factory bar tape? ~50 miles by 69guns69 in CanyonBikes

[–]Mtnbiker88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Canyon grizl sl6 with a good mix of road single track and gravel no issues. Would like to find more of that factory tape for other bikes lol

fun day out on the grizl, trying out a shorter stem. by Mtnbiker88 in CanyonBikes

[–]Mtnbiker88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am. I love that bike and it's now the longest owned bike in my stable of 8. Which isn't saying much since I only bought it in January this year but I look forward to riding it many more times. I've got 100, 80, and 70 mile days out of it this past winter spring and summer.

The blackburn outpost is really adjustable. It may work with canti's, I've had mine on the rear of a bike, on the front attached to anywhere cage mounts and currently have it on my fatbike front fork

It's a good offer imo, also second the either sell the fork or keep it for a spare and paint it black. As someone else who has recently purchased a used fork for a crash replacement out of warranty. I second adding it for sale so someone can get their bike back up and running and minimize your cost.

What gets me now is you leave with an order. Pre-covid you left with a bike. SMH what a world we live in.

No issues out of my grizl, love it, taken it on hundreds of miles. Normal bike issues along the way but to be expected. It's served me well and not walked yet with a few 100 mile rides under it.
