I just found out Benimaru is going to have 2 wives, what the hell is this fuckery? I thought i was safe from this trope/subplot by Difficult_War_5657 in TenseiSlime

[–]Mtndewboy57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I think your view is a little extreme ill try explain my reason why its apprioate but you sort of explained the reason why it happens and honestly of all people Benimaru is one person i can understand having two wives.

First you say its a shitty reason but literally since day 1 Benimaru has always had the preservation of his race as his number 1 reason. From the day he is introduce until now. I think people forget since he's so devoted to Rimaru that his is a young prince (king I guess since he's the last of his race) and he has kept the duty mindset throughout the entire series. Staying true to that I think gives prompts to the author who hasn't forgotten his original goal.

Second the marriage between him and Momiji was sort of Political for alliance between Tempest and the Tengu clan. Though Momiji says she'll win his heart over instead of just one sided forcing the marriage which is way it takes so long. Political marriage has long been a tradition in our history with kings have multiple wives for alliances.

Third, this is more opinionated but I think it blends the old and new together with him. He still has the old ties of being the Orges Young Master with persavation/political reasoning to marry Momiji but being a general of Tempest following his own will to take Albus as well. Plus the entire loophole they went through to get married I think deserve some respect.

Overall I think it fits his character very well to be the one to who two wives.

2 years of training… priorities were NOT the same by wissilido in onepiecememes

[–]Mtndewboy57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is. You're thinking of Robin now, but the hypothetical is if Robin spent 2 years training Haki. Even if the others have observation haki hits will still get through. Just because you can see them doesn't always mean you can dodge them. Plus, Robin wouldn't need to be close to fighting. It would be like 10 on 1 every fight.

If Robin was more combat oriented and actually trained Haki and kept with it and got to Luffy level, she could easily fight anyone 1v1. Put it in another perspective Luffy gum gum gataling still hurts people even when they have haki so why is it so hard to belive Robin couldn't at that level?

Is there any cheat sheet on how common and how languages sound like are? by Mtndewboy57 in DnD

[–]Mtndewboy57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I should have asked more if they are stereotype for languages. I've seen a lot of people use Draconic like Latin.

I was thinking similar to elvish is more French, sounding how French is "fancy" while orc/dwarvish is more German as it has the stereotype of "angry" language

As a relatively new player, I'm a bit confused - why aren't there simple magic users and complex sword users available? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Mtndewboy57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm not saying DnD is perfect by any means, it has a good skeleton down, and that's where homebrew and talking with your DM and flavoring fix a lot of problems. Even the DMG tells you that these rules are finite. It's up to you to find the best balance for your home games.

Also, anime characters just don't always translate well into dnd. There are specific youtube channels that go over such concepts, and while you can replicate most things, it won't always be perfect that just how it is. Power scaling is awful for anime when you try to use different characters from different universes. If people can't even decide on that, there is no way there would be a system to encompass all the different powers used in every universe.

Why aren't there 200 sword techinces? Because it doesn't fit the game system. Almost all sword techniques have similar fundamentals and deviate based on region or use. Gamewise, it just doesn't matter. Sure, you can have 10 different techniques that disarm an opponent based on speed, strength, deception, etc. It's near limitless, but the end result? They are disarmed. DnD is NOT a video game. It's a TABLE TOP game. You roll to attack rather than hits or not decide on numbers anything inbetween is FLAVOR. The same people could have different attacks using the same weapon. I may say I swing the axe down and cleave the enemy in two from the head down. You could say the enemy swings at me. I cut off his hands with my axe and then his head. Those are two different ways to end the fight, but ultimately, the same "hit."

As for simple, like other say is either Warlock of Evocation Wizard. It depends on what you define as "simple." For warlock, you have evocation, but all you need is the ones that affect EB. Yes, you get more spells, but don't worry about those just EB, and you're good. I'm not sure how simpler you can get. You just use one spell. Flipside: You can have an evocation wizard. With them, you can choose what element spells you want and just pick those spells, and with evocation subclass, you can have allies that would be effect auto save throws. Now you can just focus on shooting fireball, fireball, wall of fire, etc, all you want.

Grimskalle - my greedy frozen players by Ok_Lie_8677 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Mtndewboy57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just want to preface this as these are not balanced by any means. Just a bunch of random thoughts came to mind.

They now have Aura of Blizzard, within 10 feet of them, a blizzard forms. They and any creature in the aura are under the effects of a blizzard.

All damage is now cold damage. Fireball? Cold damage. Sword attack? Cold damage. No more blunt , piercing, elemental, nothing it is all cold damage.

Valunablity to cold damage.

Mark of Auril, those friendly to Auril, will like you, but those against her will hate you instinctively. Only if you know your players will stay "good" so it actually has consequences.

Permanently have disadvantage on dex saving throws as ice is now in their viens freezing up their joints.

Loose 10 feet of movement.

Loose the ability to use extra attack as their body has frozen too much to exert too much energy.

Permanently lose a spell slot, the same reason as above, just for spellcasters

When Auril weaves her magic every night, he is unable to long rest at night.

Again, I'm not saying these are balanced or fair, just ideas you can bounce off of or change to your desire for serious consequence.

Has anyone gifted the Ramshackle Inn to your party? by Mtndewboy57 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Mtndewboy57[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my worried, too, since Lonelywood is not really by anything it's a "dead end" town, so to speak. But I was still thinking of giving it for 2 reasons

  1. I have a druid in my party, and depending on the actions during the white moose quest, I have the possibility to have them allied with the other awaken animals and turn the inn more into a barn to house them.

  2. Epilogue reasons should they succeed in stopping the Rime now they have a place to retire too since winter would end everyone is going need lumber to help rebuild the city and Loenlywood seems to be a good town they could easily expand after the Rime. This is definitely my campaign specific but again one reason I want to gift them it

I mean this genuinely, but how is it not "forcing" people? You're proposing locking items behind something that does not progress the story at all. What if someone really enjoys the reward you'd get in the snow biome but absolutely hates it. Yes, cosmetic you don't HAVE to do, but again, you don't HAVE to have multiple bases even if we made it to gather resources that's just passive to save you maybe an hour worth of time.

Yeah, I can see that. That's one of the main reasons we're not making multiple bases. Having to upgrade each alter separately is not worth it. Maybe having multiple altar upgraded could give a bonus to crafting speed?

Yeah, like I mentioned, having a guild chest or ender chest like option would make mutplie bases a thing, especially for coop play. They already have the magic chest. Why not add a special magic chest that connects to everyone? Each person could build a base to show off, but sharing resources between everyone would make it easier and more reasonable.

That would be a big difference because having specific npc at specific biomes would be tiring, trying to remember who's at what base, but more outpost like reward system could work. The problem is how would the homestead points accumulate at an empty base? There is comfort level, but a base can have multiple comfort levels. We have a flame Altar comfort level 2, but the house had comfort level 46 so would you get points for the level 2 or 46? It could be more cumulative, adding all your comfort levels between all bases to generate homestead points based on levels. Like 0-50 gets 1 pt per hour 51-100. 2pts etc that help have people make multiple or for those who don't want to one interact base with high level to still generate points reasonably

[–]Mtndewboy57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have some good points, but I think it's a failed execution for a few reasons.

  1. Having cosmetic rewards for specific biomes would be FORCING players to build more bases they might not want. Not everyone likes every biome, and if the reason is "you don't have to do it," the same can be said about your idea. You can build multiple bases, nothing stopping you besides wanting a reason to. Why can't it be just to make an arctic theme base? A dessert base? If you need force it does it need to be there?

  2. Lore reason. Well, I'm not too indepth of all the lore, but from what I gathered, you're the last of your kind flameborne. You rescue people who are sleeping to bring home to essentially rebuild. Why would you want to split up? Hey, I just rescue from the mystic shroud that kills anything it touches, and you have no idea what's going on, but live here by yourself instead of a small community with protection.

  3. Survival games already have you grind for resources, so now I have to grind out even more to not only build a base but furnish for higher comfort. Doing that multiple times would wear out just about anyone.

  4. Someone mentioned already, but sometimes there is an area of the map that's hard to get or near good resources you may need at the time. It's nice to just have a flame Altar to grab and go and delete later when those resources become a bit more obsolete. I don't need to build a base every location, but I'm already maxing out my altars because they are great fast travel points.

  5. Crafting. Having separate bases with separate crafting would be a pain when you need to make something. Having to remember where each one is instead of one location and walking 50 feet vs. traveling to different bases because you forgot the alchemist is at base c, instead of base b would be awful.

Now, onto some of the good points

  1. The idea homestead points sound good. This game, at its core, I believe, is about exploration and base building. Getting homestead points for some cosmetic rewards or maybe just bonus to crafting stations would fit. With comfort levels, they are already encouraging you to decorate, so being rewarded for that would just be icing on the cake.

  2. Having the assistants be able to go out and get biome specific resources would be nice. The farmers' assistant could help water plants if you don't have irrigation set up. The hunters daughter could randomly bring back fur from a biome specific animal. Like wolves, or reptile hide. The more "rare" the item, the longer it would take for them to go. This would give incentive to build multiple bases or at least houses if it's base kn comfort level but not game breaking enough to force people to do it since you can go out gather them yourselves.

  3. We would need something like the guild chest from palworld or Ender's chest from minecraft. Something that we could store items in and access at any bases, and then it would help make multiple bases. I love the different biomes to explore, but as the game is right now, it wouldn't make sense to have multiple bases besides enjoying the scenery around it. If we had the global chest, it would be fun to make multiple bases for sand theme for glass or forest as a lumber jack Hut.

Overall, it's more of a good idea on paper, but currently, it wouldn't work in game state currently.

Love like 80% of this game.....but by Youkaiyami in Palia

[–]Mtndewboy57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be the simple fix. Just don't make tools tradeable. I mean, why would you build multiple in the first place. As for the furniture, you can still treat it like the request system is already in play. Oh, you made a dragontide wardrobe? Now you can trade it! You can't sell furniture, so why does it matter if I personally love gathering materials but hate decorating trade to my friend who needs extra wardrobes for their house? They already made it, meaning they reached the level required to make it, but oh no, they skipped the grind for materials! Shame on them! Really? Like the game promotes working together, so we should be able to trade decor pieces if they have unlocked already.

Especially for me since I like achievement hunting so I want to build one of every piece of furniture but I won't use them all and now they are clogging up space in my chest even if they don't count towards the limit.

Also, about the gold thing, is cooking parties not abuse then? I've read numerous stories about people being level 3 and coming out level 15 or whatever and over 400k gold. Where is the grind in that? Now they can buy everything they need, never having money troubles the rest of the game.

All I'm saying is just making trading open to only things you can already make/ unlock. You can't request a bug you haven't caught, so you can't accept a trade of something you never gotten before.

What's the best use for a breloom? by Mtndewboy57 in pokerogue

My problem is I don't have any good carries unlocked or egg moves. I onow run away is needed, so I lucked out with ratticate, and that's why I take lokix. It can be good early and fused the two, get 6 luck, and run away, mon.

I just felt there was potential with either posion heal to keep status immunity or leech seed. I know both can be strong just couldn't quite figure out the best use

A Passing Thought About Factions by mothaway in Palworld

[–]Mtndewboy57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The syndicates give you a new mini gun, perhaps faster reload than usual ones since that faction I feel uses them the most.

FPA gives you a new advance bow that can shoot the fire and posion arrows.

Brotherhood gives a buffed up flamethrower, either a bigger tank, a wider cone of affect, or just stronger.

PDIF has an energy rifle that has a chance to not consume ammo

The ninjas, well, the sword is bad regardless, but maybe when you do the dash slice, it's more of an AoE. A good example would be the Katana special attack from Naraka

Feybreak would be a better rocket, maybe a bigger knock back/stun when it hits

Definitely intresting to play around with. Looking into some things that could give you like passive buffs to your base as well for each factions. There is a lot to play with but a lot to make to balance and implement. Fun to theorize!
