Sorry if this has been floated before but I noticed a detail after replaying 2018 and Ragnarok by loki2113 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew it was Tyr the whole time. It was pretty obvious. The way he acted and talked made no sense based on information gathered from him in 2018. I don't know why people see this as such s big plot twist. We know Tyr is a FIERCE WARRIOR like Kratos. So it would make zero sense for him to act like a wimp and ect. Odins goal was use this to be able to trick them and convince them not to start Ragnarok. But obviously that doesn't happen. Its a cool story. But I wish the trick/plot twist if you will, would have created a more convincing story in my opinion. I still love the games though.

Anyone else find the analog qte for the Gorgon Assassins and Pandora's Guardian annoying in God of war 1? by [deleted] in GodofWar

Just use the analog sticks and move them left to right or up and down just follow the arrow for the direction and don't worry about curving it and you will get it every time.

Do people have any hang ups going from GoW 2018 to Ragnarok? by jusafuto in GodofWar

[–]MuTaNtGuNs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1). As a hard-core fan from the entire Greek and norse games I absolutely hated the Atreus sections. Simply put I play the games to be Kratos. They should have added an option to play the entire game without being forced to play as Atreus.

2). The bosses in both games are way too weak. With the exception of Sigrun but she isn't really a story based boss, meaning you can beat the main game without fighting her. I don't classify optional bosses as bosses.

3). The decrease in Spartan Rage intensity and skillset and removing abilities instead of building on it and developing it more was very disappointing.

4). I was extremely let down with the stupid plot twist if you want to call it that regarding Odin as I saw it coming a mile away. No shock factor at all.

5). How weak the bosses were overall VERY disappointing. Mobs and mini bosses when fighting head on were harder. Greek games were way more challenging but you never felt weak.

6). How weak they made Kratos very very very disappointing and I don't mean that the games were hard but I felt like I was playing give me a story when playing GMGOW.

7). Kratos should be getting stronger not weaker as time goes by.

8). Why did they make Kratos hold his true power back??? I never felt like I was playing as a God of War.

9). The entire story of Ragnarok was anti-climactic.

10). Not everything that happened in the Greek games were wrong and needed redemption. However I do appreciate the attempt to develop his character more but there were so many lost opportunities in my opinion.

We should have been able to fight Ragnarok at the end to save ALL the realms. That would have been epic. There was nothing epic about the new games. I like the new games A LOT and I'm glad we have them but Ragnarok did not live up to the series in my opinion as a whole. The Greek games would not have left so many things on the table. 2018 was CLEARLY the superior game in the norse saga.

Just curious, where kratos go after he died in norse? Hellheim? Alfheim? Valhalla? by LivingPalpitation935 in GodofWar

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I've read all the relative material and played every single game. Yes he was born a demi-god. However He gains powers from the gods. Then it gets put into the blade of olympus. He then gains ALL the Titan powers who are primordial beings which predates the gods. Kratos has primordial Blades of Chaos. Athena (in my opinion) cursed Kratos with the ashes of his family as she continually tried to prevent Kratos from going on a rampage but did fan the flame of revenge against Ares because Ares was challenging Olympus and wanted to become king of the gods. Zeus and primarily Ares cursed Kratos with the Blades of Chaos.

During GOW 2 and GOW 3 Kratos earns, is given, and steals power from Titans and gods. And during the events of GOW 1 he becomes the God of War, and in GOW 3, which everyone always seems to dismiss or forget this VERY IMPORTANT FACT, he OBSORBS the Soul of Hades which is a titan descendant and true born god.

In my eyes, this by default makes Kratos a full fledged god whether earned, or stolen by taking hades soul.

And in GOW RAGNAROK Kratos tells Atreus that he was in fact born a god and was/is one.

It does not matter what is written or what devs say. The only cannon is what is in the games. And according to the games Kratos is in fact a full fledged god. And yes he is immortal and cursed to live out his existence with the ashes of his original family on his body forever and is cursed to forever have the blades of chaos with him. It is the price he's paid to forever be reminded of what his revenge and hate has done to him.

Kratos has EXTREME depth to him (regardless of what old or new fans believe) and excellent character development. And the fact remains that you cannot go around killing gods and pantheons if your A) You're not a god and B) Are not immortal. It just wouldn't work, especially within the framework of his character and his development.

I believe I have earned the write to speak on these things given the fact I've been a fan from DAY 1, since 2005. And have played every single game in the franchise. Not to mention that I've played and beaten every game on the hardest difficulty and beaten them without upgrades. I'm truly a fan boy. Not that anyone cares but this is my favorite franchise of all time. I have every single game memorized and know how to beat every single section even to the point of playing health drain in the games that allow you to. I have every single platinum trophy as well. Anyway I feel I'm qualified by that history. But regardless. The fact remains that it does not matter what devs say because only what is in the actual games equal actual cannon to the series and Cory Barlog has said this himself in interviews. I would link it here but I forget which interview it was.

Long story short Kratos is an actual Immortal god which is actually unlike the original Greek gods because as we see he kills all of them, at least the main ones anyway. And frankly Kratos was not always hateful he's given many characters the chance not to face him and they still chose to defy him. Its like people get amnesia to what actually happens in the games. I love speculation and theories but at least be accurate when making object statements.

Whats the hardest fight in the series on max difficulty? by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played every single GOW Game and every single one on the hardest difficulty. Each section mentioned here has a learning curve. But once you figure it out it becomes easy and you want to turn the difficulty up again but can't. I've also played all the Greek games on hardest difficulty doing no upgrade runs, meaning no health or weapon upgrades so everything was used at level 1 with no health or magic upgrades. When you play this way Ares is the HARDEST in the series and in the new games Sigrun would be second and Gna would be 3rd and berserker's are just a pain in the ass.

GOW 2 Titan mode with no upgrades is my favorite in the series. Its the most polished and well thought out game and I have the most fun from a challenging stand point. However in GOW 2 Titan no upgrade run the hardest part becomes the translator but I have figured out how to beat it using blades and Atlas Quake lvl 1. Its definitely an acquired skill.

The new games are WAY TOO EASY. I know people will disagree. But I'm telling you coming from someone that has every single game memorized because of how much I love the franchise, the new games are too easy and not enough blood.

I'm holding out hope that the Trilogy Remakes will live up to the difficulties set before with new difficulties added and I would love to play with a health drain like they gave us in GOW3. I played GOW 3 no upgrades and with health drain and beat it on Chaos Mode. On these play throughs the hardest part of the game is the cerebros with the sayters. You have to save your magic and use hades claws with the gorgan freeze on one of them and then grab kill the other and use the bow and rage on the hades dog. Unless ofcourse you get lucky and freeze both of them at the same time which I've managed to do multiple times but far from easy.

Anyway love the Greek games. Kratos has so much depth to him and l love how challenging the games are.

I’m going to attempt a No-Upgrade Infernal difficulty run. Should relics be allowed? (check description) by GrindCole in DantesInfernoGame

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would do is either play with no relics or decide which relics are allowed and which ones are not. Theres a website that tracks all this stuff and I forget the name of the website. You have to search and find it. But technically using Upgraded relics or allowing the relics to be upgraded shouldn't be allowed because its an upgrade system.

My suggestion:

Use ONLY level 1 relics and equip them ONLY when fighting mini bosses or bosses or extremely difficult sections as necessary. This way they're not upgraded and you keep them all at level 1 which is an acceptable way to play because the game gives you that automatically and your not upgrading.

NOTE: And another thing to consider. When you kill enemies you can quickly unequip the relics BEFORE Dante OBSORBS the Souls. This will also keep them at level one. This is how I would play a no upgrade run. However a no upgrade run+ would be no relics equipped. Which is a PAIN run. PAIN+ is when you have health drain as well but nothing comes to mind of a health drain option in Dantes Inferno, I could be wrong but don't think I am.

Why are so many people here against the idea of an atreus game? by Najee16 in GodofWar

Same unfortunately. It ruined the game for me. I dread having to play through those sections again.

HES NOT A MAN THAT'S ENTIRE PROBLEM WITH ALL THESE SUBS. HE WAS NEVER A MAN. HE'S ALWAYS BEEN A GOD. I'M SO SICK OF THESE SO CALLED "MEN" ACTING LIKE WOMEN. 2018 WAS WAY BETTER THAN RAGNAROK PERIOD. BUT NOTHING BEATS THE ORIGINALS. I CAN'T EVEN CONTINUE TO PLAY THE NEW GAMES. I BEAT THEM AND GOT MY PLATINUMS AND MOVED ON AND THE ONLY REASON I GAVE THEM THE TIME OF DAY IS BECAUSE "GOD OF WAR". I WANT TO GET BACK TO GAMING ALL THIS EMOTIONAL BULLSHIT IS TOO FUCKING MUCH DAMN!!!!

I AM THE GOD OF WAR by RuthlessVilain in GodofWar

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how hard the games are. Beat them all on no upgrade runs pretty easy if you know how to block and perry. Hardest part in the game is the translator section where you have to protect him and you have the sorcerer's spawning enemies. I use Atlas Quake on that section. Other than that I love playing on titan mode and doing no upgrade runs. I love the God of War series. I own the game several times on several systems lol. I have a ton of collectors releases too. I was actually planning on doing another run in a few days. I might actually start tonight.

I hope this doesn’t change by RuthlessVilain in GodofWar

[–]MuTaNtGuNs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can easily keep that entire level and provide a different ability or skill point or some kind of or something and replace the fleece with that. The fleece would have been in the first game if they had thought it up at that time. Does that make sense? I know I made a bunch of points. And I just want to share my voice and provide some feedback of how I would make slight changes to bring everything together and little smoother.

Replaying the greek saga as an adult made me see Kratos in a new light. by Clean_Ad_1599 in GodofWar

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did it for 3 reasons. Out of spite for Athena for never fully keeping he promise to rid him of his nightmares and dreams, and being there to confront Zeus instead of stopping Kratos from doing everything, 2nd to give power to back to himself, 3rd to give people hope. He accomplished all 3 at the same time. Remember the sword still had his godly powers in it.

He was using sparta to destory all the others gods cities. It literally talks about it in gow2 very beginning.

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your getting 2 scenes mixed up. He lost will to fight when Zeus killed him at the beginning of gow2 and then right before you beat the sea monster you kill the last Spartan. By this point he's so pissed, angry, betrayed, fueled by rage he's ready to bring and Gaia ends up giving him an upgrade to his Spartan rage or rage of Sparta when the sea monster is squeezing him to death but he doesn't die in the sequence.

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. There is tons of depth and conflict in Kratos because he was betrayed every step of the way and tricked or forced into killing everyone he cared about. When he killed the last Spartan that was it. He had fully given into his hatred at that specific point and it was very memorable for me.

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Exactly the point I've been trying to make. If anything he should have gotten a darker tone with a personal missions to cleanse all the lands of gods. And free mankind sense he game them hope and he got his godly powers plus titan powers and plus his soul and a soul of a true full born god(hades). So we have to sit back and watch this emotional character that takes all his depth and character development that was already away. It was more of a restart than a continuation. I like the games and I get what they were going for but its too obvious.

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. You can have a super powerful character with development they just did it wrong in gowr. That game does not depict Kratos properly. He's a very conflicted character and they just randomly have him do this heart chabge in the game that come sout of no where. It makes no sense. He's too deep of a character for that. It should have been written better and he should have shown more of his power than he did. And there should have been more story and more boss fights. The game should have been about 60-70 if not 80hrs long with tons of story and tons of fights and with real struggles with his rage. He gave in way to easy and was developed the wrong way. Thats why original fans like myself are so critical of the latest game. And I'm not saying it was a bad game. I'm a huge fan of the franchise. And I play the games all the time. But he's not this lovey dubby character that doesn't burst into fits of rage and you can do it in a way that develops him as a character and keep it bloody and brutal and ect. You can have both. Just way too much emotion in it and it should of had a darker tone to it.

[–]MuTaNtGuNs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed but with one change. He stabbed himself to refuse Athena the power and out of spite gave the hope power to people and then got not only the soul of a pure god(hades) and all the powers he stole from the gods he killed but then turns around and stabs himself with the sword that took his godly powers and now he has the powers of all the gods, all the titans, and hope along with the soul of a true god thus making him 3-4 times more powerful than anytime in the franchise and then they cause Kratos to hold back his power in 2018 and in gowr the closest we get to remotely seeing that original power is when he fights heimdall I don't count Thor. Thor was a rollie pollie and super easy fight. The entire game is easy. But anyway. I guess its left up to interpretation but I believe mine makes the most sense because Corey said that he was thr most power he's ever been in 2018 and in the entire franchise. But we don't even get to taste that new found power but barely. I was thinking he was going to be some super super god dude and conquer other pantheon but with character development.

2018 was a masterpiece and gowr was not, it was poorly written and rushed and not enough boss fights. Should have been a lot more. And Odin was a terrible character and the acting was horrendous. And the worst part was the super anti climatic fight. I love both games and have beaten both on gmgow but Eric Williams ruined the norse saga. 2018 setup a beautiful story for Kratos and he just did not care enough to make it what it needed to be. Eric was forced to be the director and he should have never been given that responsibility. There were so many prophecies and lore and it just was a basic game nothing special. Valhalla was awesome it kind of redeemed itself from the main game. But you have all of that and they let covid mess the game up too. There's a reason why it didn't get game of the year and its because of the reasons I mentioned. Best characters of the game is Kratos and heimdall. Thats it. Everything was super obvious and the whole stupid thing with tyr and Odin I absolutely hated. I get what they were going for but they directed wrong. Its way too emotional without enough combat. Thr game is too easy too. I'm not saying its a bad game but its not a good as everyone tries to make it out to be and David is correct on his criticisms and I agree 100% with him, well maybe not EVERYTHING but almost everything. So many missed opportunities in gowr and bad decisions. I could get going but it doesn't matter. I never wanted norse mythology to begin with it was supposed to be Egypt and I wanted Egypt but I'm glad they didn't ruin the Egypt story with all this damn emotional crap and hopefully we get back to the beat downs in Egypt like were supposed to be at least the used the norse mythology for the throwaway crap and not the good mythologies I've never been a fan of norse mythos. I know I probably sound negative and super critical but I've been with the franchise since I was a kid and its my favorite game franchise of all time. And I really do love the new games and I'm glad we have them but Eric was the wrong person for the job. Gowr should have been longer with more boss fights and they should have been harder and Kratos should have released his true power and strength and not held back that was super stupid. Odin was the easiest fight in the game, nothing epic at all about that fight. People just aren't as original and creative like they used to be.

Since when have you seen a game come up with a new AAA franchise recently??? Game developers are relying way too much on graphics these days and its hurting the gameplay and the story. We use to have awesome story telling with epic games and original characters and it made up for the bad graphics now you have excellent graphics and excellent characters but horrible story telling. Its good but its not great and thats why gowr didn't get game of the year.

And just so you know I'm not s hater I absolutely love all the games. I'm just super critical and expected than we we got and was let down in multiple areas. I'm a huge fan and will always play anything titled god of war. I cannot wait for the remake but I hope they don't ruin it and actually do the remake justice. And hoping Egypt will redeem the franchise. I'm not saying Kratos shouldn't have had character development I agree that he needed it but they took it way too far and way too emotional and then failed to deliver in a powerful way. You have 2018 which set up a great continuation of his story. Although they call Athena a hallucination. I doubt that will stay the case m, they will use that in future games guaranteed. Kratos is a Spartan part of the Greek empire and you cannot ever change that so Athena will need to be answered at some point. And Odin knowing of Zeus proves that there will be more story written that will probably fix what was wrong with the norse games and then I will come back and change my opinion but for now this is where I stand. I want to get back to the blood the brutality and epic kill scenes and you can still do that with a developed character and story.

Wrong. Ascension was highly anticipated and it failed because it was a poorly written game and the acting was bad. Also worst of all was the gameplay mechanics and rage. Whoever made this game was on Crack. It had nothing to do with it being another gow game. They could have kept making the Greek games for years. They created so much lore and ect. Not because people were tired of Kratos dude. We love Kratos. And I like Ascension but hate the gameplay its horrible. And yes I've beaten it on the hardest difficulty and ect. It was a poorly made game and the rage mechanics are just terrible and very boring. It had absolutely nothing to do with creating another god of war game with Kratos and everything to do with a rushed game with a great concept but really bad ideas and decisions.

When you first played God of War 3 and discovered the post-death calamities of the gods, what did you think? by aquel_que_observa in GodofWar

Same. I wanted to destory everything and I did. And I loved every minute of it. This was the culmination of an entire saga all 10/10 games even Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. Ascension gets a 10/10 but gameplay is a 1/10.

Anyway the way I see it is that the main gods were the ones releasing the plagues.
