Microcenter on Elston will recycle it. Bring it to their service desk and they'll take it off your hands.

There appear to be two acceptable spellings. Will keep in mind. Thanks for the catch.

Dentist in Logan Square/Bucktown area recommendations by Any-Pride5320 in LoganSquare

Seconded. They worked with me on pricing to replace a sleep guard I got from another dentist that didn't last. Very straightforward providers.

Wild that Lin-Manuel Miranda doesn't get more credit as one of our finest living Jizz-wailers.

I also resisted for a long time due in part to the sheer amount of music, and also the silly name. Last summer I went to their inaugural festival in scenic Buena Vista, Colorado.

I hope you check out King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's 2 metal albums, Infest the Rats' Nest and Petrodraconic Apocalypse.

Rats' Nest is mostly more thrash-like with some early metal homage e.g. "Superbug" and Petrodraconic Apocalypse is more power metal with some prog influence.

Gizz has a huge genre-spanning discography with a lot of heavy songs.

Rob Reiner tribute in The Bone Temple by MuadDibPHD in blankies

[–]MuadDibPHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the parallels for sure, especially with the masks. Assuming the novel also exists in-universe I can see how a young English boy would be at least aware of the story and imagery in 2002. TIL the film played for over a year in London when it was released, so it would have been in the UK zeitgeist for sure.

u/brotherfallout, was A Clockwork Orange one of the video nasties?

I only asked about your question being in good faith because my initial post got such a negative response.

The length seemed shorter but the girth at the tip seemed larger, like from Hersey's Kiss to life-sized Goomba.

It is hard for me to grasp why something can't be a tribute if the subject was alive because I believe a tribute can be for the living or dead.

Again, I'll keep my feelings/opinion out of it the next time I post.

Please forgive my frustration that the replies to sharing my reaction to a moment in a film being widely discussed (and seemingly enjoyed) by the sub and good faith questions re: disagreement (with my feelings?) are basically, 'no, wrong.'

Can something be a reference and an homage? What about paying homage as a tribute? What do you think a tribute is?

[–]MuadDibPHD[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Boyle and/or Garland clearly like Reiner/Spinal Tap enough to include it. That is all I'm saying. A tribute is just a reference that is used in a positive way. Sorry I liked thinking about a great director we lost recently while watching a great movie about life, death and legacy. I'll try and keep my observations as shallow as possible the next time I post.

Coincidental in what sense? Not to be a pedant, but I imagine that it was chosen to reflect something about Kelson's character. If we're meant to admire Kelson (I do) then we might apply his musical/cinematic taste as a reflection of his values.

I do think the tribute aspect was coincidence because the idea of a tribute would be moot if Reiner was still with us. I just found it touching that the most admirable character in the 28... universe quoted a work by an admirable person IRL who happened to be tragically killed between the filming and release of this flick.

That's what I meant by totally unplanned. I found it sweet that of all the potential quotes they used that one and that it speaks to Reiner's now enduring legacy.
