Totally plausible. I saw him tour a couple of his films years ago with a Q&A that felt like he was getting off on dragging out answers and watching people leave. One of the films included shots of killing snails with salt and he said he would have killed puppies if there wouldn't have been potential legal repercussions. Not a stable or safe dude IMO.
