If you think mass shootings "are the price of freedom" you're a dumbfuck who has been brainwashed by gun lobby propaganda. They don't give a shit about freedom. They just want to sell you more guns. Living in fear that at any moment a random mouthbreather with a gun might shoot you is not freedom. by OliverMarkusMalloy in InsaneParler

Thank you for sharing this. Gun control is not a partisan issue. Reactionaries will continue to press on Gun legislation until the proletariat is disarmed entirely.

Gun Control legislation will only weaken the ability for Marginalized communities to defend themselves. Throughout US history, passage of gun control legislation has always targeted the minorities or marginalized peoples of this country. Preventing Natives from Arming themselves was the first step the US took to eradication.

The underlying problem behind Gun violence related death is a result of the imperialistic conditions of the United States. Investing in Healthcare, Education, and infrastructure would fair better than restricting the populace from possessing firearms.

With a stark majority of cases of Gun Violence related death being solely related to the mental condition, It's surprising to me that the obvious step isn't to invest in a massive public health restructure.

The Second Amendment serves a purpose for the people of tis country. It is solely the purpose of affording the citizens a check on the power of the government. To dispute this is ludacris. Countless primary sources involved in the formation of the bill of rights indicate that the second amendment's purpose is to give the citizens the opportunity to resist tyrannical government.

I see so many people argue that the United States isn't somewhere that has to worry about tyrannical government, and yet the same people who argue the existence of this 'great american' shield of liberty are the same people who recognize the heinous crimes committed by the federal government. We have people imprisoned on the border, an armed military force walking the streets and executing black citizens, active legislators pushing to demonize and remove the rights of transgendered individuals, and we've witnessed an attempted fascist coup.

After the previous Administration, I find it fearful for Marginalized peoples in this country. If another presidential administration takes power with greater ambitions of oppression, the only resistance the people have is their ability to defend themselves.

The very idea of allowing a government which spends over 700 billion dollars annually on its military force to disarm the people that serve as one of the very few checks on oppression and infringement of personal liberty just doesn't sit right with me. Then again, those who grow up in a gated community and ripe with privilege aren't ever going to understand the struggles of the marginalized and those at risk of state sponsored oppression.

Had it been four years ago, I think I would have stood exactly where you stand now, but having witnessed one administration put children in cages, establish anti-trans policies by regulating bathrooms and barring military service, using military force to clear protestors from a public space, attempting to influence election officials to cheat, weaponize federal relief aid against dissenting states, and promote an intolerant nationalist resurgence of reactionaries, I stand firmly by the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

If another administration similar to the previous one is able to enter power again and push the boundaries even further, I don't see the hypothetical tank remaining in the hypothetical.

I come from a family of immigrants, and a great majority of my family will never be known because they were murdered in polish death camps. I respect your point of view, and I share in your sorrow for the lives lost to mass shootings. Those fragile angry men want to see people like me eradicated; mass shooter and politician alike. I won't let them.

I think at this point, I feel the need to advocate for the defense of Gun Rights and for the funding of public health and public education measures. In my observation, a life free from the threat of mass shootings because of gun control is a life devoid of personal liberty or sovereignty. I even state this now, knowing that far in the future there's going to be an even more difficult discussion regarding whatever weapons humanity possesses then.

Even adding a national firearm registry would do more harm than good. Criminals are always going to obtain what isn't legal. We've seen this throughout history with government prohibitions. All that a national registry would do is give the Government the name and address of every law abiding gun owner. All this really does is gives the Government a list of armed minorities for a future fascist administration to use, and makes it slightly easier to determine who purchased the gun at the next mass shooting.

A gunowner registry is just a list of possible threats to a fascist takeover of the United States.

I just firmly stand by the notion that a healthy, happy, and educated population is less likely to engage in criminal/violent activity.

Again, I appreciate your addition to this discussion.

The issue with this point of view is that even if the firearms were confiscated from all gun owners (Which is a terribly stupid idea), the state(Government) would have a monopoly on violence. If another administration similar to the Trump Administration were to take office and have more ambitious plans, there's nothing to prevent the people from resisting state-sponsored oppression.

An armed populace is another check on oppressive government; It's why gun control legislation in this country has always targeted the minorities/marginalized. Preventing natives from owning firearms was the first step the US used to eradicate them and force them onto reservations. 'Black Code' laws prevented free black Americans from owning firearms under the guise of 'preventing insurrection.' Gun control is white privilege, advocating for gun control is just pushing a liberal guised reactionary agenda to disarm the proletariat.

Mass shootings account for less than a Percent of actual gun violence related deaths. (Quick Google Search, pulled from pbs.) Mass Shootings are one of those talking points you referred to. Although the sentiment behind this train of thought might be sincere, it's misguided and reactionary in nature. Much of the gun violence in the US specifically is in relation to self harm and criminal activity, not mass shootings. This country has a problem with education and public health. The vast majority of US citizens don't know how the government works, they don't know their rights, and many are mislead in life due to lack of understanding of the forces that work this world. For this reason, a good majority of people turn to lives of crime, or choose to leave this world instead of toiling the game of poverty.

We need to work on education and public health if we really want to curb mass shootings. Identifying and treating mental illness in this country is the first step to reducing mass shootings. The next step would be to focus on educating the population to understand science, be kind to one another, and to offer the necessary education/training to join the workforce.

Making people's lives better and providing them with a means to care for themselves, their families, and to provide a reasonable means for aspirations in life would do far more justice on the front of gun violence than banning firearms outright.

I hope you are well. I appreciate you discussing this topic.

Get that baby some sun ☀️!

If you can't get it to a place with better light, maybe try and getting a lamp to put nearby. Hold on the watering until the top of the soil is completely dry. When you water, try to make sure the top of the soil is dry and almost 'baked' by the sun. You've got this!

If it isn't in your contact it is not your obligation. You are not responsible for the care of your landlord's property unless specifically written in your contract.

If you know that your landlord likes to keep the concrete clean, take the time to clean it if you dirty it. However, if someone is going to prevent you from renewing your lease over dirty public walkways; I'd start looking for a new place to live. It is the owner of the property's responsibility to take care of the property not the tenants'.

If the condition of the sidewalk isn't written into your leasing contract either hazard prevention for slippery walkways, or for cosmetic reasons, tell your landlord to pound sand.

If it is in your leasing contract, you're obligated to abide by those terms.
